PRESIDENT (2002 Present)

Responsible for overall leadership and performance of this 20 store buffet restaurant franchise operation,
including sales, marketing, real estate/lease negotiations, restaurant design and financial results. Same
store unit sales have grown every year since 2002 with the exception of the recession years of 2008-2009.

Conceived and led complete reinvention of Izzys protein program through the introduction of
smoke ovens (2005) and open flame grills (2008), facilitating the launch of salmon, steak, baby
back ribs and other new products which became the focus of brand advertising. Turned prior
declines into growth of over a $1,000,000/year 2005-2007. Negotiated vendor funding of project.

Initiated Rebranding project to bring all units up to a new modernized visual standard inside (slate
floors, warm colors, TV, stone walls, open flame grills) and exterior (stucco, metal roofs, stone
accents updated logos and signage) to make Izzys brand consistent, and relevant today. All units
completed within a 2 year period.

Led significant upgrade in franchisor marketing and promotion program, delivering sales growth at
lower overall promotion costs as percentage of sales.
a. Changed out of large ad agency to a virtual agency model for all production and media
buying. Improved speed and efficiencys while saving over $100k in fees yearly.
b. Created an e grill rewards club. Current membership of 65k members and growing.
Redemptions increased from (.5 -1% to 5% while distribution costs decreased $30K
c. Academic Awards program initiated in 2002 currently delivering over 108K certificates
directly into the hands of children and their extended families. 28K redeemed in 2014.
d. Players Club lottery player incentive program. This targeted marketing program
has produced an increase of over 25% in franchisor royalty revenue.

Introduced non-negotiable standards for facility, production and presentation, and an audit
system to help ensure continuous compliance. This managed locations into compliance and
contributed to sales increases of 6% average per unit. These sales increases lead to two new
franchise units.

VICE PRESIDENT MARKETING (2000-2002)

Development of all marketing campaigns, including the creative design of commercials.


Franchisee Relations and Sales including adherence to mandated business practices while
growing the franchise base.

Accomplishment: original employees have stayed for over 20 years at the OC location.
Failure: Opened a Portland store which failed due to poor site selection, poor management. As
an owner I failed, this was an expensive lesson, all my responsibility. Learned not to be repeated.

PAYLESS DRUG
VICE PRESIDENT GROCERY (1996-1997)

Wilsonville, OR

Hired by Lenard Green and Associates to initiate set up of grocery departments in this 1150 store chain.
Included selection of items to be carried, start up of dairy program in 9 states, directing all purchasing,
sales, marketing and budget accountability. Additional responsibilities included production, sales and
development of Ice Cream plant.
KROGER
DIRECTOR OF DISTRIBUTION (1995-1996)

Responsible for combining 4 Divisions, including King Soopers, Frys of Arizona, City Markets and
Dillion Stores into 2 consolidated distribution centers. These distribution centers functions were to reduce
the total supply chain cost from the manufacture to the retail customer.
DIRECTOR OF MERCHANDISING AND MARKETING (1993-1995)

Responsible for store designs, product placement, all purchasing and marketing of the highest average per
unit volume grocery chain in the US. Including advertising, budgets and profitability of retail grocery
stores averaging $1.5 million per week.
CATEGORY MANAGER (1987-1993)

Denver, CO

Buying and Merchandising of all commodity grocery products for chain. This included all sales and gross
profit. Specific goals were achieved through the development of marketing programs, item selections and
the implementation of effective shelf schematics in the retail stores.
