Types of Interviews
All job interviews have the same objective, but employers
reach that objective in a variety of ways. You might enter the room
expecting to tell stories about your professional successes and
instead find yourself selling the interviewer a bridge or editing code at
a computer. One strategy for performing your best during an interview
is to know the rules of the particular game you are playing when you
walk through the door.

Some tips for maintaining confidence during screening interviews:
METALLURGY
ISAP

Come prepared with thoughtful questions about the field and the
company.
Gain references to other people and make sure that the
interviewer would be comfortable if you contact other people and
use his or her name.
Give the interviewer your card, contact information and resume.
Write a thank you note to the interviewer.

only how you handle a fork, but also how you treat your host, any
other guests, and the serving staff.
Some basic social tips help ease the complexity of mixing food with
business:
Take cues from your interviewer, remembering that you are the
guest. Do not sit down until your host does. Order something
slightly less extravagant than your interviewer. If he badly wants
you to try a particular dish, oblige him. If he recommends an
appetizer to you, he likely intends to order one himself. Do not
begin eating until he does. If he orders coffee and dessert, do not
leave him eating alone.
If your interviewer wants to talk business, do so. If she and the
other guests discuss their upcoming travel plans or their
families, do not launch into business.
Try to set aside dietary restrictions and preferences. Remember,
the interviewer is your host. It is rude to be finicky unless you
absolutely must. If you must, be as tactful as you can. Avoid
phrases like: "I do not eat mammals," or "Shrimp makes my eyes
swell and water."
Choose manageable food items, if possible. Avoid barbeque ribs
and spaghetti.
Find a discrete way to check your teeth after eating. Excuse
yourself from the table for a moment.

Communication
Communication is defined as a process by which we assign and convey
meaning in an attempt to create shared understanding. This process requires a
vast repertoire of skills in intrapersonal and interpersonal processing,
listening, observing, speaking, questioning, analyzing, and evaluating. Use of
these processes is developmental and transfers to all areas of life: home, school,
community, work, and beyond. It is through communication that collaboration
and cooperation occur. Fundamental Beliefs About Curriculum and

Face-to-Face Conversation.
A statement of the larger factor involved in face-to-face conversation
will prove of value in helping the reader to grasp the more complex problems
encountered in the transmission of sound over telephone wires. In face-to-face
conversation the speech sounds of one person are transmitted to the ears of
another by means of the intervening air. The distance between the individuals

usually is small, so that there is very little loss (attenuation) of power in the
transmission process, and the speaker may keep their voices at a normal
conversation level. One is accustomed to the way the voice of an acquaintance
sounds during face-to-face conversation, and hears in the voice what one feels
is complete "naturalness" of tone and quality. (One even hears in one's own
voice what is thought to be complete naturalness of tone and quality, although
one becomes surprised at the difference when a voice recording is heard.)
Also in face-to-face conversation additional meanings are received 21
A Telephonic Conversation
Consider that a conversation by telephone--when
you are simply siting by and not taking any part in that
conversation--is one of the solemnest curiosities of modern
life. Yesterday I was writing a deep article on a sublime
philosophical subject while such a conversation was going
on in the room. I notice that one can always write best
when somebody is talking through a telephone close by.
Well, the thing began in this way. A member of our
household came in and asked me to have our house put
into communication with Mr. Bagley's downtown. I have
observed, in many cities, that the sex always shrink from
calling up the central office themselves. I don't know why,
but they do. So I touched the bell, and this talk ensued:

CENTRAL OFFICE:
I. Is it the Central Office?
C. O. Of course it is. What do you want?
I. Will you switch me on to the Bagleys, please?
C. O. All right. Just keep your ear to the telephone.
Then I heard k-look, k-look, k'look--klook-klook-klooklook-look! then a horrible "gritting" of teeth, and finally a
piping female voice: Y-e-s? (rising inflection.) Did you wish
to speak to me?
Without answering, I handed the telephone to the
applicant, and sat down. Then followed that queerest of all
the queer things in this world-- a conversation with only
one end of it. You hear questions asked; you don't hear the
answer. You hear invitations given; you hear no thanks in
return. You have listening pauses of dead silence, followed
by apparently irrelevant and unjustifiable exclamations of
glad surprise or sorrow or dismay. You can't make head or
tail of the talk, because you never hear anything that the
person at the other end of the wire says. Well, I heard the
following remarkable series of observations, all from the
one tongue, and all shouted-- for you can't ever persuade
the sex to speak gently into a telephone:
Yes? Why, how did that happen?
Pause.
What did you say?
Pause.

Since when?
Pause.
Why, I never heard of it.
Pause.
You astound me! It seems utterly impossible!
Pause.
Who did?
Pause. Good-ness gracious!
Pause.
Well, what is this world coming to? Was it right in church?
Pause.
And was her mother there?
Pause.
Why, Mrs. Bagley, I should have died of humiliation! What
did they do?
Long pause.
I can't be perfectly sure, because I haven't the notes by
me; but I think it goes something like this: te-rolly-loll-loll,
loll lolly-loll-loll, O tolly-loll-loll-lee-ly-li-I-do! And then
repeat, you know.
Pause.

GROUP DISCUSSION
The term group discussion is used to refer to a situation in which a small
no. of persons meet face to face & through free oral interaction among
themselves exchange information or attempt to reach a discussion on shared
problems .

The members of the groups would ensure the smooth flow of interaction
& ultimately arrive at an agreed solution to achieve the specific purpose for
which discussion was organized
Each participant should give a fair chance to choose others to speak and
express their opinion. This would ensure crystallization of thought & bring to
light different aspects of the topic under crystallization.
Occasionally when the group discussion takes place, some persons may
be invited as the observes. Then may be done for two purposes.
The Main application of the G.D is in Test/Interview.
MEETINGS
Very often, we will be required to participate in discussion groups which
may be small or large. A group may be assigned a specific time bound task or
meet at period interval when there is need. This coming together of persons is
labeled by different names on the basis of one or more of the following criteria.
The purpose for which the group meets, types of the participants &
communicative pattern, etc. Following are some of the labels used to name
different type of discussion group: meeting, seminars, conference, panel
discussion etc. Here we shall concentrate about meetings.
PURPOSE OF MEETING
There are number of purposes for which meetings are held.
