Description of the Seminar


A seminar entitled Health Education Enhancement Seminar: Patient
Awareness on Postoperative Pain and Comfort Management will be held at
Ospital ng Maynila Medical Center Audio Visual Room targeting the institutions
staff nurses on September 28, 2013. The seminar will focus on strengthening the
health education given to preoperative patients by the nurses, giving emphasis
on the causes, implications to recovery, and prevention of postoperative pain
including its corresponding management that ought to be taught to patients to
attain comfort after the surgery. The seminar will run for three hours, at
maximum. Speakers, experts on postoperative pain management, will be invited

to discuss and further elaborate the topic at hand. After the said seminar, each
will be given a certificate of appreciation for attending the said seminar.
Mission
It is the mission of the Health Education Enhancement Seminar: Patient
Awareness on Postoperative Pain and Comfort Management to help nurses
formulate a plan of intervention for the clients better understanding on the
importance of awareness on postoperative pain and likewise provide them
information that could help them make right decisions in managing their health.
This knowledge and awareness will serve as a basis for developing strategies
and techniques to encourage these clients to practice a positive comfort
management after a surgery.

Goal
It is the goal of the wellness program to improve the health education
being rendered by the nurses to preoperative patients, leading to an improved
postoperative health status, thus preventing postoperative complications.
