Answering God’s Call
This is an exciting time in the life of the church as we move from the season after Epiphany into the high holy season of
Lent and Easter. As we go into this season at Wellspring we have five young people who have been exploring their under-
standing of the Christian Faith and will come to a point of decision about Jesus Christ. We are thankful for Sally Winslow’s
Worship Times: commitment to lead our confirmands in this journey.
8:30 am-Traditional In the broader church, Boards of Ordained Ministry are beginning to meet and listen to men and women talk about their
faith journeys and God’s calling on their lives. These boards will make decisions that will have lifelong consequences for
9:30 am-Traditional both individuals and the church. These decisions will be made based on calling, gifts, and graces. It is critical for Christians
11:00 am-Celebration to remain focused on their call. Every believer is called to become a disciple and a maker of disciples. And each believer
has been equipped with spiritual gifts that are unique to them. There are many spiritual gifts listed in scriptures. Please read
the following scriptures to learn what they are: Romans 12:6-8; 1Corinthians 12:8-10; 1Corinthians 12:28-30; and Ephesians
4:11.
I have established some measurable goals for Wellspring in 2010 that will require each of us joining our gifts together.
These goals are as follows:
To maintain an average Worship attendance of 325
To increase the number of baptisms from 4 to 10 baptized adults and children
To extend the Invitation to Christ and have at least 15 professions of Faith
To increase faithful Stewardship and raise average giving for each giving unit to a minimum of
$200.00 per month.
To increase participation in Bible study/covenant groups to a minimum of 200 people actively
engaged in short and long term studies.
History Of Valentine's Day To create one hands-on Wellspring Mission project seeded by a minimum of 12 people.
To establish two sustainable outreach initiatives.
February has long been a month of romance. It is the month associated with Valentine's
Day celebrations. Valentine's Day or Saint Valentine's Day is a holiday celebrated on

well, then we must focus on using the gifts which God has given us to build up Wellspring for Christ’s ministry in the world.
It has been said that a basic mistake is “trying to do God’s work without God.” Thus, our Lenten scripture will once again
be “I am the vine, you are the branches. Those who abide in me bear much fruit…” (John 15:5, NRSV). It is our
desire to place God at the center of all things and be co-laborers in the vineyard.

Debra

The Caring Place is having their yearly Soup Supper fund raiser at St. Helen

$10. A silent auction and a drive-thru for picking up dinners has been added this
year. The cost is $10 a ticket and will be from 5:00 to 7:30 pm.

Rev. Robbins comes from a preaching lineage. His father, Rev. Thomas Q. Robbins, is a
retired UMC pastor. However, he is currently serving a local church. Joel is the youngest
of three sons and each of his brothers are United Methodist pastors. His wife Christi is
also a minister and is the pastor of Lorna UMC. I am thrilled that he will be coming to
share with Wellspring and I hope you will invite others to come and hear this dynamic
preacher.
