OIL PAN
The oil pan is availablefor the L20B G2 and
G4 as an optional part. G2 usesa wet sump system,
and G4 usesa dry sump system.
When installing the oil pan, be sure to check
for oil leakage.and thoroughly clean the inside of
pan, removing casting sand and cutting chip completely.

( I ) In this cylinder head, machining of 28 mm
(1.10 in) dia. hoie has been made halfway on
both the intake and exhaust ports. Grind the
valve insert portion, 28 mm (1.10 in) dia.
machinedportion and the portion having casting skin to removesteps.
(2) Unlike the unit for G2, the valve guide pressing
length has certainallowance.Cut off the end of
valve guide protruding into the port, along the
contour of the port.
(3) The nurirber of ports in this G4 specification
engine is geater than for G2. Care should be
taken when grinding the ports not to causeany
significantdifferencesin shapeamong them.

heat the pistonto 40 - 50'C (lO4 - 122"F).
@ Check clearanceat the valve recesson the lop
of piston.
Place cla,von the valve recessbelbre installing
the cylinder head. and correctly adjust the
valve timing. then turn the crankshaft one
completeturn. Checkdepressionof the clay,to
determine clearance.If abnormal resistanceis
felt when lurning the crankshaft. it is an
indication of interference between piston and
valve; ceaserotation of crankshaft,and correct
the valverecess.

PRECAUTIONSIN CARBURETOR SETTING
As the atmosphericpressurelises, increasethe
main jet size number (decreasethe main airjet
size number); as the atmospheric pressure
drops, make the reverseadjustments.
@ As the temperaturedrops, increasethe main jet
size number (decrease the main air jet size
number); as the temperaturerises,make the reverseadjustments.
@ When the weather is cloudy, increasethe main
jet size number (decreasethe main air jet size
number). When other than cloudy (fine or
rain). make the reverseadjustments.
@ n tnict mixture will lower the temperature of
exhaust gas (and lean mixture will cause the
temperature to rise). To lower exhaust gas
temperature,increasethe main jet size number
properly (or, decrease the main air jet size
number.)
O Whether the main jet size and main air jet size
are selectedproperly can be judged by observing the color of the center insulation of spark
plug. If an excessively large difference is
observed between the size numbers recommended above and those selectedin the field,
check whether the heat value of the spark plug
has been properly selected.
@ When the outer venturi diameter is increased,
the engine performance becomesa high-speed
type; when decreased,the engine performance
becomesa low-speedtype.
O The air horn length significantly'affectsengine
performance.When shortened,the engine exhibits higir-speedtype performance (that is,
torque characteristics).When extended, the
engineexhibits a low-speedtype.
