Brethren Home Community Services
To Be Discussed At Pleasant Hill Church
Are you providing care for an adult? Is this something that might be in your future? Perhaps you are
a deacon, pastor, or lay person who cares deeply about others and would like to have information that you
could share about community services for aging adults when the need arises.
On Thursday, Feb. 25, at 7 p.m., the Pleasant Hill Church of the Brethren will host Linda McKenzie-
Woods, manager of Home Care Services, Brethren Home Community Services. Ms. Woods will share
information about two new programs being offered by the Brethren Home Community Services. Services
are offered within a 30-mile radius of Greenville.
Services included are: Meal preparation, light housekeeping, medication reminders, shopping and
errands, companionship, recreational activities, hygiene assistance, 2- to 24-hour care, live-in care, respite
for family caregivers, weekends, holidays, short- or long-term care. Handyman services are also available.
The second program, soon to be unveiled, is the brand new Adult Day Center, which will provide care
from 7:30 a.m. until 5:30 p.m., with many options and transportation available. The Center will provide
services such as social interaction, meals, activities, diabetic and blood pressure checks, and medication
assistance. Beauty shop services and hygiene and bathing, as well as out-patient physical therapy, will be
offered.
You do not have to be a member of the Church of the Brethren to take advantage of these communi-
ty services. This informational program is FREE and open to the public. Refreshments will be served.
Registration is not necessary.

Relay for Lif e in 2010!
The Darke County Relay for Life will be kicking off the 2010 season with a FREE reception that is
open to the public. The celebration will be held from 2-4 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 28, at The Eagles in
Greenville, with a reception and hors d’oeuvres, followed by information on the 2010 Relay for Life for
all new and returning teams. All team captains, participants, cancer survivors, caregivers, and anyone who
would like to learn more about the American Cancer Society and Relay for Life are invited to attend.

I wasn’t sure if he knew what I was saying, but he took off to the bedroom lickety-

Granddaughter number two (Marie) also had a friend at the house, Brook Reineke.
You might remember her father, Carl, who used to have a Ford dealership in
Covington.

Brook was also initiated into the club, so I asked her to help Roman and me with
the sticker. Presto! In just one minute I had this beautiful rainbow tattoo. Roman
was elated.

And you thought I had gone off the deep end!

TO AUSTRALIA... TO ARUBA... TO HUNGARY...

The Swigart family – Roger, Janet, Monte, Shelley, Molly
and Emma – of West Milton and Laura, spent three
weeks in Australia in July of 2008. This picture was
taken along the Great Ocean Road with The Twelve
Apostles in the background. They enjoyed visiting the
beautiful state of Victoria, and hopped a plane to
Sydney, viewing the Opera House and Sydney Harbor
Bridge from a ferry boat. They enjoyed visiting nature
sanctuaries, a football game at the M.C.G. in
Melbourne, and many other adventures while staying in
picturesque Geelong, a suburb of Melbourne. “It was a
trip of lifetime,” claim the Swigarts.
Jim O’Donnell of Covington not only took
along his wife Betty when he attended the
Ohio State Bar Association seminar in
Aruba December 1-7, he invited the
Advertiser along, as well. While Jim attend-
ed school for 12 hours, Betty enjoyed
swimming and the beautiful beach. The
couple took a Sunset Sail Cruise along with
34 other people, and enjoyed seeing the
sights on Aruba.
Larry and Nancy Szilagyi of Bradford visited
with a former exchange student, Gabor (Gubi)
Gubicza of Veszprem, Hungary, early last year.
Gubi made his home with the Szilagyis during
the 2005-2006 school year. Also pictured are
Eva and Bela Fuchs of Budapest and Klara and
Laszlo Gubicza. Larry and Nancy enjoyed visit-
ing the villages that Larry’s grandparents had
once called home, and saw some of the castles
in Hungary.
