Chapter 1

Prince Kim.
Yes father.
Please receive this edict. You will lead our army to fight the Silla.
Yes father.
Prince Kim Taeyeon bowed down and received the imperial edict.

Prince Kim Taeyeon, riding on his horse, looked over the hill. On the other side of hill was his enemy, his
countrys enemy.
The amount of enemys troop was significant. They outnumbered Baekjes army.
Prince Kim sighed before turning his ride backwards, rode back to his camp. he jumped down the horse
and received bows from his army. He waved them up and walked towards his tent.
Tell me, advisor. How is our situation?
My lord. The advisor bowed down fretfully. Im afraid we are on the down side.
Prince Kim sighed and looked out to the far where he could see the enemy.
Theres no need to be repentant, my servant. Their number is far too enormous than us.
He turned to the advisor and thought deep.
We have to come out with another approach. A new method. Something that can hit them in
revelation.
Yes my lord. The advisor also engaged in strategy thinking.
It was not long before Prince Kim snapped his fingers in excitement.
Cheer my servant! I have got a dazzling idea!
Yes my lord, Im all ears.
We will disguise and sneak into their country. We will fish out their military information. We will have a
surprise attack from both outside and inside! The young prince spoke enthusiastically. Oh no! I will! I
will disguise and sneak into their country!
But my lord

Hush, they never saw me. They are oblivious of how I look like. I will go. And this is final.

===

The velvety voice rippled around the spacious room tilted with marble floor. Red pillars stood firmly
linking themselves with buttresses on the high end of the roof. Everything was in wood or vine, yet the
room sparkled with the decorative gold engraved in the wall. Crimson curtains made of silk draped from
the high roof, adding a feminine feel in the room.
The melodious sound riveted in the room, blew everyones mind in that room.
It took awhile after the song ended, before the audience in the room snapped back and gave a standing
ovation.
Well sang my child.
The humble vocalist bowed to her queen. Conscious of her own status, she immediately retreated back
behind the curtains to excuse herself. She needed to stay there until the banquet was over.
And so the filthy merchants and royals started to openly judge the still listening singer. Though the lady
in the middle and one young man sat beside her stayed silent throughout the conversation.
She is gorgeous my queen.
I would be ever glad to have her by myself.
So I see why this servant is the best of all women.
The woman is exactly my kind of type.
The pasty-dressed young lady scoffed inwardly, feeling pity for herself that she needed to hear those
rude old mans talk.
Enough. The old lady sat in the middle of the room closed her eyes. She too, tired of these vulgar talks.
Please forgive us, my queen. All the man bowed fretfully, fearful of the chastisement they might get.
The queen frowned and waved them off.
The banquet is over now. Please return.
The timid merchants and royals started to retreat as the queen ordered. The young man beside the
queen stood up as well.
Stay, my prince.

But I have no business here, mother. The prince stood still and bowed. Plus, I need to see my
seonseangnim for my learning.
Very well then. Be sure you are present at the dinner. Your father wished to see you.
Yes mother.
The prince bowed again and exited the hall.
It was till then that the young singer could come out from behind the curtain. She walked forward
towards the queen and kneeled down in front of her.
Very well done my child. You can stand up now. The queen gestured the girl to stand up. I shall
reward you with 300 gold and 10 carton of silk. The queen smiled pleasingly.
The meek servant bowed again.
Please take back the rewards my queen.
Oh no. You have done a spectacular job. The rewards are well deserved.
If then, may I ask your majesty another request in replace?
Speak my child.
I wish to visit my mother in our hometown, my queen.
The queen frowned a bit.
You know the circumstances out there are unstable. War is raging my child.
Thats the reason why I should visit my mother now. I would not dare to risk the last chance of seeing
my mother.
The queen looked at the determined expression on the young ladys face. She smiled pleasingly.
You have a kind heart, my child. Your wish is granted. You may stay there for a month.
The servant kneeled down happily and thanked her queen. She bowed again before going out of the hall.
And, Miyoung-ah. The queen called before she left. Take two sacks of grains with you. And dont
think of refusing.
The girl called Miyoung bowed respectfully again before retreated out of the room.

===

The prince skipped gleefully into his room. He was ought to be seeing a familiar working figure in his
room. And there she was. The prince sneaked stealthily until he stood right behind the young servant.
The girl, cleaning the glass and vase on the table, was oblivious of the well-built young man behind of
her.
The prince smiled from the bottom of his heart looking at the back of the girl. He stepped closer to the
girl and slipped his arm onto the girls waist, hugging her tightly.
Ouhh! The servant jumped a little shocked by the sudden contact. Fortunately she was able to put the
vase back onto the table without breaking it.
When she registered who was behind her, she immediately tried to struggle out of the embrace. But her
strength was no compare of the princes.
Y-your highness She squirmed in his embrace.
The prince took in a deep breath, smelling the sweet flora scent of the girl and smiled.
You dont even call me Prince Choi now?
P-P-Prince Choi, p-please She turned to look at the wooden door. Thank goodness it was locked.
Now call me Sooyoung.
P-prince
Its Sooyoung.
S-Soo Sooyoung.
The prince showed a toothy smile and finally let go of the poor girl. But before she could escape, he
caught her in his arms again, this time they were facing each other.
You dont know how boring the banquet was. I was missing you all of the time.
He took her hand and put it on his cheek affectionately.
The girl didnt reply. Her heart thumped crazily, but her mind told her not to give in. She was in no
position to be with the prince like this.
The prince could see the apprehension and worry in her eyes. He knew what was going in her mind. And
he had told the girl a thousand times before.
Quit the thinking. What did I say to you? I love you and I want you. Dont be bothered about anything
else.
The girl didnt understand how he could utter the three words so easily.

How how could you say those words so easily?

The prince looked intensely into her eyes.
Because I love you, Sooyeon-ah.
The answer left a huge impact on Sooyeons heart. Everything seemed so easy for him, but everything
was exactly the opposite in the reality. Everything was dead difficult for them.
A prince cannot be with a servant
Hush, Sooyeon. He stopped her by his index finger.
He leaned in to softly peck on Sooyeons lips. The sweet, tempting lips made him lingered there for a
few more moments before he leaned back. He touched his forehead with Sooyeons.
Now tell me. Do you love me?
Sooyeon was still dizzy from the kiss they had, closing her eyes to savor the moment as long as she could.
Sooyoung, being impatient, kiss her again before asking the same question. Do you love me?
I love you.

===

Prince Kim Taeyeon stood within his tent with his best generals and advisors all with him. He was
already dressed in normal civilians outfit, packed his belongings into a small cloth satchel.
Are you sure with this, your highness? One of the advisor asked, worrying for their wise prince.
More than ever. Now. He straightened up after finished with himself. I will entrust you all to oversee
our troops in my absent. I will be expected to back in a month time.
The proud soldiers bowed for the prince.
Dont initiate any attack while Im absent. Defend our land as best as you could.
His people nodded respectfully.
But I still worry about your safety, my prince. One of the general spoke. Its best if one of us tag along
with you, your highness.
Yes, thats a brilliant idea, my prince. The others agreed immediately.

Prince Kim Taeyeon looked at his trusted comrades.

Very well then. Ill take one of you with me.
One of the general kneeled down immediately, bowed down to offer his service.
Servant Kim Hyoyeon at your service Your Highness.
Prince Kim Taeyeon nodded approved the proposition.
Well we better be off now. Theres no time to waste.

===

The dinner was in complete silent. The King, the queen and Prince Choi ate in silent, all with poker face
on, except for Sooyoung with occasion peeks to Sooyeon, who was standing at a side, serving the royal
family.
It was how the dinners always went through.
It was not long after that they finished their dished.
The king cleared his throat, indicating he was planning to talk. The servants quickly retreat and closed
the doors, making Sooyoung pouted a bit, not able to see his lover anymore.
Prince Sooyoung my son. I have a proposition for you.
Yes father? Sooyoung sighed inside and answered solemnly.
General Park had given me a great suggestion. It seems like we are winning the war. And the attacks
had been more temperate recently. I had considered his offer, to let you lead the army from now on.
WHAT?!
Prince Sooyoung stood up abruptly shocked by the proposal his father made.
The King stared at him and frowned. Whats the matter my son?
Prince Sooyoung sat down awkwardly.
No, no nothings wrong.
Then I may appoint you to lead our army to fight the Baekje, and come back victoriously.
Y-yes father.

Chapter 2
Sooyoung stood beside the small round table in his room with his hands linked behind himself. On the
table was a plate full of traditional pastries with a pot of Korean tea.
The prince just came back from the dreadful dinner. In his mind was all about the unpleasant edict his
father just gave him. Sooyoung let out a long sigh, alarming the humble servant stood by the locked
door. She looked at the back of the prince but dared not to speak a word.
Frowning, Sooyoung turned his body and supported his weight by putting his both hands on the
exquisitely decorative table. He eyed his favorite pastries but shook his head.
Oh no this is no time for food. He mumbled but still eyeing those delicate, mouthwatering, savory
little pastries.
The tall shiksin gulped at the sight of those delicate gourmets.
In the speed of light, two of the gourmet already disappeared from the plate and another one was firmly
held in the princes hand. With mouthful of food in his mouth, Sooyoung looked up at the ceiling and let
out a sigh, a content sigh.
Gahhh Twhiss ishh juz amajjing!
He took the pot off the table and didnt even care much but just literally poured the tea into his pastriesfull mouth. He gulped down all the content in his mouth and continued to shove another few pieces of
cakes and biscuits before patting his tummy satisfyingly.
Sooyeon on the other hand witnessed the literally chaotic eating manner, was trying hard not to
laughing out loud. But the laughing was so intense that even with her both hands covering her mouth to
muffle it, Sooyoung could hear it and turned around.
He couldnt help but smiled dorkily looking at the laughing girl he loved so much.
What are you laughing at? He accused playfully.
Sooyeon lowered her head and wiped off the tears from laughing so hard before answering.
N-nothing.
Heehee The prince let out some cute chuckles, Sooyeon-ah
The girl wanted to raise her head but before she could do, she felt a pair of arms tightly held on both of
her shoulders and pulled her into a warm embrace. She whimpered slightly at the warmness and
coziness of the hug. Her hands on the princes chest while her head tucked just perfectly into his neck.
The pleasant smell of Sooyoung made her heart thumped faster as she felt heat crept up on her cheeks.
Im sorry.

Why?
Sooyeon felt something soft and warm pressed on her hair just above her forehead. The sensation
stayed there for a few seconds before leaving, immediately made her felt longing for it again.
My father is sending me to the frontline.
Sooyeons heart jumped and eyes widened hearing it.
But the war is at its end. Sooyoung said softly, I promise I will be back before you know.
Sooyeon didnt respond. She just stayed in the prince embrace quietly.
Sooyoung felt his chest tightened. Even a dinner without seeing her was that painful. Even being a wall
apart from each other hurts him that much. How would it feel when hes away from his one and only
princess for weeks and months, miles and yards away?
But he laughed, trying to pry off the uneasy feelings in his chest.
Hehe Sooyeon-ah He let go of Sooyeon and held her hands, lets go.
Go where?
Prince Sooyoung smiled mischievously and pulled the servant along and went out from his room.
To find your kind!
What is my kind?
The stars!
Loud, tinkling laugh could be heard as the two headed to somewhere quiet and hidden.
A figure walked out from the dark looking at the two. She shook her head and continued her path;
having the little conversation she just heard hanging in her mind.

===

Two danshins stood at the hills before the towns boundary. It was dawn and the sun didnt even rise yet.
The people in the town most probably were still in their sweet slumber or preparing to start their day.
Were here your highness.
Yes, I know. Taeyeon rolled his eyes as his follower just stated the obvious, And how many times
should I tell you to address me as Deoryeonim? Im your master, not prince from now on.

Oh yes Deoryeonim. The shorty called Kim Hyoyeon bowed.

Lets go. Taeyeon walked at the front while Hyoyeon followed him obediently. Oh and remember
who we are
Deoryeonim is a merchant from the Far East and Im your faithful servant.
Good.
With that, the two made their ways to the port where two sturdy guards stood at the gate, each wore a
sword nesting properly in sheathes tied to their waist. The guards noticed the two outsiders
approaching immediately got alert and stopped them before they enter the town.
Who are you people? What is your business doing here?
Ni men shi shui Rang gong zi jin qu rang gong zi jin qu!!!
Even Taeyeon was stunned by the random sound emitted from Hyoyeons mouth. The two guards
frowned looking at the talking danshin puzzled by the foreign language he was speaking.
Taeyeon coughed to stop Hyoyeon and grab attention from the two guards.
I am a merchant from the Far East. He tried to enhance the accent in his talking, while gesturing
Hyoyeon beside him, Please pardon my servant. He speaks little Korean.
The two guards looked forth and back at the two danshins suspiciously. After exchanging looks, the two
eventually let the two enter the town.
What was that? Prince Taeyeon asked after they reached a safe distance from the guards.
Chinese. Hyoyeon smirked recalling the faces of the guards when they heard his Chinese.

The sun rose as the town residents started to wake up from their dreams too. Taeyeon and Hyoyeon
walked down the street and realized the street was getting crowded by each minute passed. Some were
businessmen, merchants and hawkers ready to start their business; some were housewives coming out
from the houses to buy daily necessities; some were teens and youngsters waking up early playing with
their playmates.
Quite a prosperous town yeah Deoryeonim?
Hmm
Taeyeon watched the happy faces of the civilians. Somehow he felt pity of them. The poor civilian under
the rule of kings, who just wished to have peaceful life, would suffer the most consequences of the war.
And he was there, to fish out military information, to start a war, to make them suffer.

He sighed looking around him as the street started to become lively as sellers shouting and selling their
goods and the residents walked around the street to buy breakfast and necessities.
Steamed buns! Tasty steamed buns!
Hyoyeon drooled over the buns as she stood just in front of the stall. Taeyeon wanted to tell Hyoyeon to
focus on their mission but then his tummy growled just at the time. He rubbed his tummy and pouted.
Oh a breakfast to boost our energy wont harm.
Yes Deoryeonim the buns seem delicious! Hyoyeon chirped goofily with his eyes still stared at those
buns in the bamboo steamer.
The hawkers eyes lit up hearing the potential customers words.
Yes yes mister, please sit down. He led the two to a table and wiped the table clean.
The two ordered some buns and a pot of tea. Soon, the foods had been wolfed down by the two hungry
guys.

We should start our mission now! Taeyeon scanned the surroundings after the two left the table and
wandered on the street. There should be a
Toilet!! Hyoyeon uttered hurriedly. He was biting his lower lips with his face crumpled together.
I was going to say the local judiciary Taeyeon rolled his eyes and waved his servant off. Go finish
your business fast and come back here!
YES! Hyoyeon couldnt wait anymore and ran inside a building which looked like an inn.
The prince then turned around to observe his surroundings. He was about to ask a passer-by for the
location of the local judiciary when he heard a neigh of a horse and some gasps from the people. Before
he knew what was happening a horse brushed through him making him almost lost his balance.
He frowned and looked at the now faraway horse with a man wearing mauve silk robe and black gauze
cap. It must be some well-off aristocrat as Taeyeon thought.
Aishh, those heartless aristocrats He scoffed while brushing off the dust on his shirt.
Looking up, he found a middle-aged lady sat on the ground, her basketful of vegetables and fruits rolled
around the ground. His brows instinctively knitted together seeing the poor lady. He hurried beside her
and squatted down to help picking up those vegetables and fruits. He put all of them back into the vine
made basket. He then turned to the old lady and helped her up.
Are you alright ahjumma?

The lady looked at him with a grimaced face. She painfully exhaled when she touched her left ankle.
Taeyeon noticed it and immediately checked it. It was slightly swollen in a reddish color. The ahjumma
must have sprained her ankle when she fell down to avoid the reckless horse rider.
We should go for the doctor.
The ahjumma noticed how the young lad she seeing used we instead of you. She was grateful for that,
of course, to have this kind young gentleman there for her. She gathered her strength to stand up, with
the help of Taeyeon for sure. The disguised prince gently put the ladys arm over his shoulder without
hesitation, and walked slowly, following her pace, to the nearest clinic there.

Thank you again... The lady bowed her head a little to show her gratitude. She was still in his arm,
walking unsteadily towards the direction of her house. She then realized she had not known the name,
so she looked at him dubiously.
Taeyeon caught the stare and smiled politely.
I am Tae- He then realized he was still in disguise, which means he shouldnt give out anything true
about himself, Taengoo, madam. He made up a random name.
Taengoo, The lady repeated, and her eyes disappeared into a sweet crescent. Thank you Taengoo.
And ahjumma is?
Im a Hwang, but ahjumma is fine for me Lady Hwang laughed, I know Im not young anymore.
He smiled and continued to walk following the ladys instruction until the two reached the end of the
street, in front of a fence made roughly by uneven twigs gathered together in a cluttered manner. The
entrance was barely discernible as it was made with the same muddled twigs gathered together. The
lady opened the gate and they were in the earthy lawn with a small house stood in it.
Taeyeon flickered his eyes around to observe the environment. It was evident that Lady Hwang came
from a humble household, with not much material properties. The lawn was not big with some baskets
and pots piled up on one side, a water pump stood beside those; A pair of ropes held up by two vertical
woods for each on the other side with some garments hanging on them.
The house was small, in fact tiny, for Taeyeon. It was made of earth and straw-thatched roof topping it.
The small wooden door and two vine frame covered holes, which Taeyeon believed to be windows,
were all that decorated the house.
Nothing fancy but still a cozy home for me. The middle-aged lady showed her eye-smile again and
gestured the guy to lead them into the house.
Taeyeon pushed the door open and sat the lady onto the chair by the wooden table in the living room.
There was just a pathway to the back for the kitchen and two doors for bedrooms.

You live alone? Taeyeon asked as he couldnt found any presence in the house.
Yes, Lady Hwang nodded, But I do have a daughter
Taeyeon nodded and silence took over. The danshin felt awkward as he didnt know what to do next.
Oh, where are my manners The lady tried to stand up with her hands supporting her by pressing on
the table. I have a guest here
Taeyeon was about to tell her to be careful when the lady felt the awful pain from her left ankle as she
shifted weight on it. She forgot that she sprained her ankle and yes, she was one clumsy ahjumma. In
the aftermath, the lady fell sat on the floor before Taeyeon could reach to her.
Taeyeon quickly attended to her and helped her up by holding both hands of the ahjumma. She frowned
as the ankle still hurts while standing up. And that was then the wooden door was being pushed open
revealing a young lady in her twenties.
YAHH!!
Taeyeon turned around, still holding to the ahjummas hands. He only caught a glimpse of the girl before
he got pushed by the surprisingly forceful young girl. He stumbled a bit before getting back on his feet
steadily. Frowns crept their ways onto the princes face as he raised his head to clearly see the figure in
front of him.
The young woman was holding Lady Hwang in her arms when he looked up. She looked beautiful; he
could tell that the first second he laid his eyes on her. The girl was in her pink hanbok; her hair in its
natural chocolate brown shades was tied into a simple yet eye-catching braid, falling onto her left
shoulder.
What are you trying to do to my mother?! The girl uttered a little bit too loud; her expression was not
of the happy ones.
Taeyeon was stunned by the sudden appearance of the girl, and maybe by her beauty, and was standing
stiffly unable to utter any words. But fortunately Lady Hwang, sat securely on the chair, was there to
speak for him.
Miyoung! How can you be so rude?! This kind gentleman here was trying to help me up.
Miyoung looked at her mother and looked back to the silent guy. She was supposed to apologize but she
didnt.
What happened mother? She asked instead.
Not until you apologize to this nice young lad there.
Miyoung pouted but obeyed.

Im sorry for my thoughtless act. She bowed a little.

Taeyeon froze awhile before bowing back, No harm done.
Miyoung turned to look back at her mother.
I sprained my ankle and he helped me. Lady Hwang sighed.
You should be more careful mother. Miyoung frowned, I knew I shouldnt leave you alone here, why
wouldnt you just come with me?
Lady Hwang sighed again knowing her daughters exaggerated worries; she shook her head.
We have a guest here. Lets talk about this another time okay?
Fine. Miyoung pouted.

The three sat down by the table full of appetizing dishes prepared by Miyoung, since Lady Hwang was
unable to cook, as the two young adult said. They ate in silence, a little awkward for the two while Lady
Hwang eyed her daughter and the young man. She already liked Taeyeon and would gladly accept him
into her family someday. Yeah, she had already thought of that.
So, where are you come from and why are you here, Taengoo? Lady Hwang started.
I came from the Far East. Taeyeon tried to think of a why hastily, I travel around to see the
world? He sounded unsure. He then thought of his faithful servant. Oh gosh Hyoyeon!
Hmm?
My servant. I left him on the street!
Ahh Im sure hell be fine. Lady Hwang smiled, You can go look for him after lunch.
Taeyeon nodded.

Chapter 3
Taeyeon set foot on the street he stood the same morning. The danshin prince just finished his lunch
with the Hwangs and excused himself to go search for the poor abandoned Hyoyeon. The street was
crowded with people at that time too, but it was more quiet than the morning.
Taeyeon was hoping to see his servant at the same place where they had their breakfast, buns. But
there was no sign of the other danshin. He sighed and remembered Hyoyeon was going for the toilet
before he lost him. The prince found the place where it resembled a simple looking inn and entered the
place.
He was immediately greeted by the waiter there.
Greetings sir! Are you looking for a room to stay?
Im afraid not Taeyeon tried to peek into the hall, Did you happen to see a guy whos at his
twenties, wearing plain colored clothing, a little shorter than me
SHORTER THAN YOU?? The very person described appeared into their sight, wobbling and struggling
his way towards the two.
Taeyeon hoisted his brows at the evidently drunken Hyoyeon. Hyoyeon struggled to open his heavy eyes
and looked upon the person in front of him. And when he recognized the figure, his mouth hung opened
and his eyes widened instantly.
P-prin- I mean. D-Deoryeonim! Hyoyeon tried to stand straight but failed, he had to balance himself
by putting his hand on the table beside instead. Of course Im shorter than you
Kim Hyoyeon Taeyeon sighed and turned to the waiter instead. Im sorry for the troubles he caused.
Heres some silvers
The waiter thanked him for the tips and left the two immediately.
Would you like to tell me why are you drunk?!
Hyoyeon lowered his head in shame.
It was umm toilet a girl soju she me and umm The poor servant mumbled in a hushed
voice.
Aishh forget it I dont want to know the details Taeyeon face palmed himself and sighed. Now
come quick, we need to search for the judiciary here
Y-yes Deoryeonim!

The two stood before the large crimson door decorated with heavy bronze doornails as ornaments. Two
armored men stood before the door, holding on spears with sharp-pointed head, threatening to stab
into every intruders ribcage.
Yah what business do you have here?! The left guard barked.
Taeyeon bowed his head down and brought Hyoyeon away from the scene.
But why Deoryeonim? I could easily tear their heads off!
Patience my servant Taeyeon gawked at the building again before turning away, We will sneak in
when the night falls we wouldnt want to create any commotions. Just get what we want and go
Arasseo?
Ne, Deoryeonim.
The two continued to walk down the street aimlessly. After awhile of silence, Hyoyeon, who was
apparently bored, spoke.
Deoryeonim what should we do in the meantime?
Taeyeon looked at him. He thought of Lady Hwang, and her beautiful daughter.
Beautiful
Huh?
Oh umm nothing. Taeyeon twitched his eyebrows, I mean I have some place to go How about you
go reserve a room for us to stay and we meet when night falls?
Algetseumnida Deoryeonim. Hyoyeon bowed and soon excused himself.

Ahhh you are back Lady Hwang sat by the table and greeted when she saw Taeyeon passed through
their front gate.
Yes ahjumma. Taeyeon showed his charming smile and bowed, then he noticed something,
Wheres umm wheres your daughter?
Just call her Miyoung-ah Taengoo! Lady Hwang smiled, shes out to get me some groceries
Oh.
Taengoo-ah, so did you found your friend?
Ah yes, I found him.
Good Lady Hwang smiled before she remembered something, Taengoo?

Yes ahjumma?
Do you have a place to stay? How about you staying in our house?
Oh thank you for the kind offer, but Hyoyeon my servant is already looking for a place to stay
Oh but I really hope you can stay You can save your expenses in that way
But I really
And its more lively if youre here Lady Hwang put on a sulking face, A man in house could be very
helpful
She sighed and hung her head down.
Taeyeon didnt know what to say. He couldnt stay but who in the world could say no to the sulking face
of Lady Hwang? No.
O-okay Ahjumma, Ill stay
Lady Hwangs face lit up immediately after that. She beamed and showed her eye-smile.
Really?!
Yes ahjummaTaeyeon nodded and noticed the unwashed dishes left on the wooden table. Ill help
you with these
Oh never mind them! Youre our guest, how could I
Its okay ahjumma, I want to do it.
Seeing Taeyeons insistent look Lady Hwang gave up on refusing. Thank you Taengoo.
Taeyeon smiled and took the dishes to the back kitchen. He picked up the loofah (A/N: the dried fibrous
part of the fruit of a plant of the genus Luffa; used as a washing sponge or strainer) and brushed the
clay-made dishes under running water. As a prince, he wouldnt have to know how to wash dishes; but
as Kim Taeyeon, he had always liked to join his servants in the chores. It was how he played back when
he was a young lad, with the absence of any peers in the palace back then.
Lady Hwang sat at her place and couldnt help but smiled and bobbed her head slightly, staring at the
working Taeyeons back.
What a good man I want him to be my son-in-law The older lady showed her eye-smile when
Taeyeon took a glance at her.
The disguised prince then continued to offer his hands in sweeping the floor, watering the plants, even
laundering the washed clothes.

When Miyoung the daughter came back, Taeyeon was holding on an inner robe and preparing to hang
it up onto the rope meant for drying the clothes. Taeyeon froze at the sight of the young girl while the
latter did the same. Miyoung turned her gaze onto the inner robe her was holding, HER inner robe he
was holding.
YAHHHHHHHH Byuntae!!!!!
The girl stomped her way towards the startled Taeyeon and snatched away the inner robe.
What are you trying to do?!! Ohh what a byuntae!
B-b-byun-byuntae?!! Taeyeon stuttered out of shock, What are you talking about? B-byuntae?!
YES! What else does this look like? Holding on my my Miyoung was too shy to utter the correct
noun of the piece of article.
I was trying to do the laundry Miss Miyoung!!
H-how could you?!! Miyoung didnt even listen to Taeyeons words.
Im not I just-
Aigoo Miyoung-ah!! Lady Hwang stood beside the door, leaning on it to support herself. Taengoo is
trying to help me!
W-what? Miyoung looked back and forth towards her mother and the danshin.
I told you! I was just doing the laundry!
B-but Mother! The girl ran to her mother with a pout on her face, How could you let a stranger hold
on my our clothing?!
Miyoung-ah Taengoo is not a stranger, and theres nothing to be ashamed of Its just clothes right?
Taeyeon walked towards the two and bowed.
Im sorry if I offended you again, Miss Miyoung I really am. He bowed again.
Its its okay Miyoung sighed when she saw her mothers expression, IIm sorry too
Taeyeon smiled as politely as possible to the girl. But Miyoung just turned her head around,
embarrassed by both herself and the fact Taeyeon had held her intimate clothing.

Later at night
Taeyeon had spent the whole evening worrying about the plan. What would Hyoyeon do if he couldnt
find him? The prince just hoped that his servant wont do something reckless without him.

After dinner, Lady Hwang and Miyoung had returned to their chamber to call it a night. Well they
ushered Taeyeon into the room which used to be Miyoungs. Of course Taeyeon couldnt sleep; he sat in
the room, with the lights off to avoid any suspicions from the mother and daughter. Now he just needed
to wait for the two to fall into deep slumber before he went out to find Hyoyeon and begin their
operation.
After a good ten minutes or so, Taeyeon sure he could hear nothing but light snores once in a while. He
quietly tiptoed out of his assigned bedroom and slid the door closed. He sneaked towards the front door
and tried to open it.
Crack
Aishh this door is too loud Taeyeon grumbled faintly before closing the door in the gentlest way,
but it still created slow, agonizing cracking sound.
Taeyeon stopped for awhile to ensure that Lady Hwang and Miyoung didnt wake up from the noise.
After that, he rushed silently towards the front gate. And thats when he realized that he forgot to bring
his mask. His black mask that should had matched the dark night-colored robe he was wearing.
Ughh He couldnt possibly sneak into a place full of armored guards without get noticing, and if he
got noticed, he couldnt let the guards to recognize his face.
A mask is a must.
And his mask was inside the room, within his satchel. If he went back to his room, he need to go into the
house. In order to enter the house, he needed to open that loud cracking door.
Damn that loud cracking door.
That would probably woke up the Hwangs and thats the least Taeyeon want it to happen.
He flickered his eyes around in the starless night. Everything was so dark and there was nearly no one
now in the street. He looked back into the front yard of the Hwang and got an idea. He rushed back,
silently to the Hwangs lawn, and looked around the laundries, to find if anything would be suitable for
his mask.
There was one. A piece of silk handkerchief just good enough to wrap around his face and cover most of
his face. But theres one problem. One single problem that made Kim Taeyeon scratched his head in
frustration.
It was pink.

Chapter 4
Taeyeon sneaked into the night, sprinting towards where he and Hyoyeon agreed to meet. He skillfully
avoided any pedestrians still wandering on the street, and jumped up the roof through a pile of loads.
He flew from roof to roof without creating much noise under his legs.
The building of judiciary was soon insight. Taeyeon slowed down and bent his body to stealth himself
from the eyes of the night guards. Soon he reached the rooftop of a building just opposite of the
judiciary, where he found Hyoyeon already squatting there.
He tapped Hyoyeons shoulder while crouching down beside him.
Deor- Bwahaha- Mmpphh! Hyoyeon laughed his heart out before got muffled by Taeyeons hand
when he saw the pink garment tied onto Taeyeons face.
Shhh!! Taeyeon shushed him and shot him a glare. Whats so funny?!
No no I mean Deoryeonim Hyoyeon wiped off his tear of laughter, where did you get this cute
pink mask?
Shut up. Taeyeon hissed and turned his gaze to the building where the two guards started to move off
their spot.
Looks like theyre changing shift. We better take this opportunity.
Taeyeon whispered as he moved to another closer building with Hyoyeon behind him. They waited till
the two guards were completely out of sight.
Ill go in; you stay here and look out for me.
Taeyeon didnt wait for Hyoyeon to protest. He jumped down the roof stealthily. He landed on the
earthy ground with a low thud and rolled himself to the other side where he hid himself behind a stack
of wooden boxes.
The prince got held of his short royal gilded dagger and observed the surrounding with his hawk eyes.
Everything seemed static and clear; Taeyeon rolled himself out of his hiding place and rushed towards
the side wall shielding the judiciary building. He climbed up with a swift movement and hung there to
inspect the situation inside of the wall. There were a few guards patrolling, holding fire torch with them
while their swords were tied on their waists.
Taeyeon waited for the patrols to pass by and prepared himself to intrude the area. But before he could
do that, a high-pitched scream could be heard from the alley just on the other side. Taeyeon widened
his eyes and turned to look at the patrols. But they seemed to not even bother about the scream of help,
but only laughed at it and continued their watch on the area.
The feminine voice screamed again. Taeyeon turned to look at the direction and finally he sighed.
Jumping off the wall, he sneaked his way towards the dark alley.

What laid in front of his eyes enraged him with his eyes flared with wrath. A young lady lying on the
ground crying with her hair being pulled into cluttered mess; her clothes were half torn by the drunken
bastard now wobbling in front of the girl, trying to untie his sash.
Taeyeon charged at him and kicked him on his butt with all his strength. The boozer fell on his face in
impact. The girl gasped at the sight of her pink masked hero before she gasped again but this time its
because of the drunkard was standing up again, holding his broken soju jar.
The drunk launched towards Taeyeon with his unstable steps, swinging the jar at Taeyeon. The latter
dodged the attacks easily. He jumped up and flew his foot towards the guys waist, hitting hard on the
side belly of the drunk. The drunk whimpered in pain but didnt fall. Taeyeon lifted himself in the air and
swung his body, using the force to land his powerful leg right on the drunks head.
A loud crack sound could be heard and the drunk collapsed along with a thud on the ground. Taeyeon
landed on the ground at the same time kneeling, with his left hand balancing himself.
The girl looked at him with fear still linger in his eyes while the pink masked Taeyeon stood up. At the
same time, they heard some rushing footsteps and loud yelling sounds coming near. Taeyeon nodded
slightly to the girl before disappearing into the air. Okay, he just jumped onto the roof and fled to where
Hyoyeon was.
Deoryeonim! Hyoyeon was still crouching at the same spot with a worried face, Where did you go?
The guards are moving back!
Aishh, I had to do that Taeyeon sighed as he peeked on the judiciary building, it was now filled with
alarmed guards, I guess we have to come here another time.

[bump bump]
Sooyeon had been up that night; in fact she didnt slept at all. And when she heard the low hitting sound
came from the wooden window, she climbed off her bed without awaking other maids. She tiptoed to
the window and opened it.
The prince beamed with a huge smile hung on his face when he saw who he expected to come out.
Prince Sooyoung Sooyeon gasped when she saw the royal figure.
Sooyeon, He leaned his body through the window and hugged the servant; I knew you couldnt sleep.
He whispered at Sooyeons ear.
He released his lover from his embrace and held her hands.

Come out.
He helped the girl to climb over the window and embraced the girl before she fell onto the ground. He
chuckled softly and helped the girl up. Sooyoung held Sooyeons hand and led her through the twists
and turns of the garden before they reached the lakeside.
They sat by the lake with the starry night sky above them. Sooyoung had his hand secured around
Sooyeons shoulder with her head leaned on his shoulder.
It was plain silent, just two lovers enjoying each others warmth, before Sooyoung sighed and spoke.
I will probably be gone for a month or two depends on how the war would go on
Sooyoung felt his girl nodded in his neck.
The campsite is set just at the boundary; it takes about four hours to go there Sooyoung continued,
Maybe I can sneak back when the guards are not on watch.
Sooyeon jumped from his embrace and stared at him worriedly.
No, my prince you should not risk
Shhh Sooyeon Sooyoung put his index finger onto her soft pink lips. Im afraid I will die without
seeing you for so long So let me be.
Sooyeon blushed at the sweetness the prince showing her and hung her head low. Sooyoung smiled at
the sight and lifted her chin with his hand. Sooyeon looked at the princes reassuring gaze, smiled
eventually with her heart softened. Sooyoung stared at her lovingly before leaning in, sealed their lips
together as he made a promise with himself inside, to love and protect this girl he loved so much.

Next Morning
Taeyeon followed behind Miyoung as the two was out to help Lady Hwang to buy fresh vegetables for
the day as the ahjumma sprained ankle wasnt fully healed yet. His hands were already carrying two
baskets full of vegetables and fruits that they bought. And the daughter of Hwang still wanted to look
for more greens.
Are these still not enough, Miyoung-ssi? Taeyeon sighed from the back, already exhausted from the
walk for the whole morning, not to mention from the fight yesterday night.
Miyoung stopped and turned abruptly, making Taeyeon almost bumped into her.

I dont know why mother likes you Taengoo-ssi but I certainly dont! So dont act like were close!
Byuntae!
W-what? Taeyeon hung his mouth opened, Im not a byuntae and, I never acted close with you
Miyoung-ssi!
Whatever you think doesnt matter now just follow me and be quiet. Miyoung narrowed her eyes at
him before turned around and started walking again.
Taeyeon hoisted his left brows in confusion and followed her.
Aigoo women in Silla are weird
The two continued to walk until they noticed theres a crowd huddled together around a wooden notice
board. Out of curiosity, Miyoung also blended into the crowd to look at the board. Taeyeon at the back
also tried to peek but he couldnt see a thing. Blame his height and the baskets on his hands.
The danshin puffed his cheeks and sat down at the road site to wait for Miyoung to come out from the
crowd.
The girl only came out after around ten minutes. Taeyeon stood up immediately and asked her what
happened with his eyes glittering in curiosity.
Oh it said that theres a anonymous hero last night the saved the village chiefs daughter and they
wanted to award him. And it said the hero was masked in pink? Miyoung couldnt help but laughed at
that, Although I do love pink, but pink masked rogue is kind of funny.
Taeyeon felt his face heated in embarrassment.
I wonder who would stupid enough to use pink mask to shield himself.
Miyoung uttered before walking away, making Taeyeon to follow her.

Chapter 5
Taeyeon carried the back basket on his back, and walked out of the Hwangs house. He was supposed to
go to the mountain to get some firewood for the family but he walked towards the market street
instead. The Hwangs was out of firewood and he volunteered to help them. But he figured he could use
some time to meet Hyoyeon.
Deoryeonim!! Hyoyeon shouted and ran to his master as soon as Taeyeon stepped foot into the inn
Hyoyeon stayed in.
YAH! No need to shout. Taeyeon sat down at the table and put down his back basket.
But youre a hero now! The whole village is talking about you being the pin-
Hyoyeon was immediately muffled by Taeyeon in his mouth.
Shhh! You want the whole world to know its me?! Taeyeon hissed.
Hyoyeon shook his head as Taeyeon was covering his mouth. Taeyeon sighed and let go of him.
Aigoo I never wanted things to be like this We shouldnt catch so many attention around here.
Hmm its okay Deoryeonim. Hyoyeon drank his cup of tea. It was the right thing to do.
I guess so
As the two was talking, people suddenly fussed and went outside to the street. Taeyeon and Hyoyeon
frowned as they didnt know what was happening. Hyoyeon stopped the waiter who was going outside
too and asked him what was happening.
The prince is going to the war! Now hes passing by our village! The waiter uttered and rushed
towards outside.
Taeyeon and Hyoyeon looked at each other knowingly before joining the crowd, lining at the side of the
main road as soldiers with full armor and weapons walked in line preventing the civilians to get any
closer.
Taeyeon and Hyoyeon tried to squeeze themselves to the front and luckily they did. There were lines of
soldiers heavily armed that they couldnt see the end of the line. Taeyeon frowned as he saw the
number of Sillas army. They were obviously outnumbering Baekjes.
After around ten minutes, the line finally came to an end. Generals, as Taeyeon suspected, were riding
on horses, advancing forward slowly. The crowd cheered harder when a prestige-looking guy on a white
horse appeared at the end of the line.
This should be the prince, Deoryeonim. Hyoyeon whispered beside Baekjes prince.

Taeyeon nodded as he scrutinized the prince thoroughly. The prince was tall-looking, rather tanned,
with an determined piercing eyes. He was smiling warmly and waving at his people.
Taeyeon pulled Hyoyeon back into the inn. He let Hyoyeon showed the way to his room and locked the
door behind them. Hyoyeon knew that the prince had something in mind. They sat down by the round
table.
Okay Hyoyeon. Ive got an idea.
Yes my prince.
Now that we know that the prince is going to the war, this would be our best chance to launch a
surprise attack.
Surprise attack?
Yes. Taeyeon took out the map of the boundaries area. He pointed at where the Baekjes camped.
Heres our campsite. And theirs should be here.
Hyoyeon nodded as Taeyeon continued to speak out his strategy.
The prince is coming, means that they would be welcoming the prince. The defense should be the
weakest at that time.
And they wouldnt be well prepared. Hyoyeon uttered, understood Taeyeons thoughts.
Yes, and thats why I need you to rush back to the camp now. Inform the generals about this and lead
the army for the attack!
Me? Hyoyeon looked at Taeyeon surprisingly as he was always the assisting general of all.
Yes, I trust you Hyoyeon.
Hyoyeon smiled and nodded his head. Yes your highness.
Now, heres the hill and theres another path that you can approach them Taeyeon continued to
study the map and plotted the attack plan for Hyoyeon.
After 5 minutes of explaining, Hyoyeon rode on his horse and sprinted towards their camp.

What takes the byuntae so long?

Miyoung crossed her arms, sitting on the front yard of her house, gawking at the door but there was no
one passing through it. She pouted with her hands supporting her head on her knees, and huffed a sigh.
Picking up a twig, Miyoung drew random letters on the sand ground. Her expression was of bored one
as she continued to wait for Taeyeon who should, theoretically, be back by now with a bundle of
firewood.
After a good twenty minutes or so of creating abstract drawings on the sand, Miyoung was out of
patience. She stood up abruptly and threw the twig onto the ground puffing a frustrated sigh.
Mother!! Im going out for awhile! She shouted into the house and held up the hem of her long dress
and trotted out of the house.
Where could he be? Miyoung moved her legs in a fast pace, turning her head left and right hoping to
spot a certain danshin.
Soon, she arrived at the fork where the road had been forked into two; the left one to the mountain,
where Taeyeon should be for the firewood collecting; another one led to the market.
This byuntae Miyoung hissed while looking uncertainly at the crossroads, He must be in some
brothel having the time of his life!
They have brothel here?!
Of cours-KYAAAAAAAAAAA! Miyoung jumped from surprise and turned around to see the guy she was
looking for, Byuntae! Youre here!!!
Yah, I have a name okay? Taeyeon pouted, Im not byuntae
Miyoung somehow found the pout on Taeyeons face cute. But she shrugged it off anyways. Looking
towards the back basket Taeyeon was carrying, Miyoung was surprised that it was filled with bundles of
firewood, which was more than enough.
What took you so long?! Miyoung still wanted to blame Taeyeon anyways, I was waiting for the
firewood!
I just went to see my servant for awhile Taeyeon sulked.
Aha! So you did go to the market!
And? Taeyeon tilted his head like a kid. And with his baby face, he looked cute, too cute for Miyoung
to handle. I collected the firewood.
You Miyoung quickly turned away when she couldnt find something to retort with, and because of
her heated face, AISHH! Lets just go home!
Taeyeon smirked as he followed the fluttered girl.

They really have a brothel here?!

SHUT UP!

Sooyeon let out another sigh as she cleaned the wooden door with a damped cloth. She had been doing
the chores for hours now. In actual fact, she had been doing all the chores alone, finishing the work of
even other servants.
The servants had always known that Prince Sooyoung favored Sooyeon. Although Sooyeon didnt act
arrogant from that, the servants still felt threatened and decided to isolate her. Now that the prince was
away, of course the servants would gang up and bully her by giving all the works to her.
Being a shy and timid girl like Sooyeon, she wouldnt dare to speak against them.
Sooyeons hand paused from the repeated wiping movements as she thought of the prince. Her lips
angled up into a small smile. Despite every hardship that she was facing, Sooyeon could still endure as
long as Prince Sooyoung was there.
Its a really strange emotion she had with the prince. She respected and looked up to the prince, like
everyone else; and she did love him. What woman could resist a prince with the handsome looks, sturdy
body, and most importantly the gentle touches, the sweet words?
She would just contented with admiring the prince from far, serving him with everything he needs.
So it was something beyond Sooyeons ever dreamt of when Prince Sooyoung confessed his love for her.
And everything happened after that was heavenly for her.
The soft voice calling out her name in the most affectionate way she could ever imagine; the warm
touch that was so gentle like she was something so delicate; the kisses that brings every wonder in the
world awake.
Sooyeon sighed again, but this time, a contented sigh. Her hands got back to their routine of wiping the
wooden frame of doors.
Working hard?
The sudden voice startled the servant as she turned to see who was talking. Sooyeon was shocked when
she saw the owner of the sweet caring voice came out from no other than the queen, with a few
servants behind her. She frantically bowed down and greeted the queen.
Your majesty Sooyeon bowed.
Please, stand up. The queen smiled sweetly at the servant.

Sooyeon bowed for the last time before standing straight, not daring to make any moves in front of the
queen.
Actually, The queen spoke, I have something to discuss with you, Jung Sooyeon-ssi.
Algesseumnida, your majesty. Sooyeon bowed as she followed the queen until they reached her
majestys chamber.
As they entered the resplendent chamber, the queen sent off the other servants, leaving her majesty
and Sooyeon only in the room. Sooyeon lowered her head, her mind was flying through thousands of
possibility of the reasons the queen wanted her there, alone.
Please, sit. The queen said after she sat on her seat.
Sooyeon bowed, Ill just stand here, your majesty.
No, please, sit. The queen said again, with a determined face.
Sooyeon bowed again as she knew there was no use refusing the queens word. She gingerly sat down
on the seat in front of the queen.
Sooyeon was stunned when the queen put her hands on top of hers. The queen patted her hands gently
while a smile plastering on her face.
No need to be feeling restrained. The queen gave her an amiable smile.
Sooyeon nodded slowly and cautiously.
Well, Sooyeon-ssi. The queen started, You do know His highness and I have only one child, right?
Sooyeon nodded, feeling uneasy of what the queen had to say.
Prince Sooyoung is our only son, and I love him very much. He is going to succeed the throne.
Sooyeon kept quiet, listening attentively at her queen. The queen paused for awhile to observe the
servants expression but the latter just kept a blank face.
I have heard that Prince Sooyoung is really fancy of you, right?
Sooyeon widened her eyes. Her heartbeat raced like ten times faster than before as she wondered how
the queen knew about that. Would she be expelled from the palace, or worst, be killed? She couldnt
imagine the consequences if the queen had known the relationship of the prince and her.
Honestly The queen said in a calm way, but it brought waves and waves of nervousness inside
Sooyeon, Ive already known about you and Prince Sooyoung.

Sooyeon thought she couldnt be more shocked but she was wrong. The last sentence struck her like
how a lightning practically struck a person. She kneeled down on the ground frantically and begged for
forgiveness; her tears ran down like unstoppable stream of waterfalls.
Please please its all my fault your majesty Please dont punish Prince Sooyoung She cried, Ill
take all the consequences, expel me, e-even k-
Youve got me wrong Sooyeon-ssi! The queen stood up and went to Sooyeon, helping the now dazed
girl up. I wasnt even angry at you! Why would I punish you?
E-Ehh? Sooyeon looked puzzlingly at the queen; her face stained with tears.
I am not angry about you and Prince Sooyoung. The queen smiled warmly.
Ehh? Sooyeon was still dazed, B-but why?
I love Sooyoung, and I want him to be happy The queen smiled, Since the day I saw him smiling with
you beside, I knew that only you can make him happy.
Sooyeon widened her eyes, this time, surprised with a hint of relieve and gladness in it.
Thats why I wanted to talk to you The queen said, I want you to know that, no matter what
happens, please stay by the princes side and love him, make him the happiest man in the world. Can
you do that?
Sooyeon blinked her eyes. She still couldnt make herself to believe that the queen was actually asking
her to be with Sooyoung, not parting with him. It made her heart jumped in joyfulness.
Yes, I do. Sooyeon bowed deeply at the queen. I can.
The queen smiled looking at the determination Sooyeon had in her eyes, it made her smiled from the
bottom of her heart. The same goes to Sooyeon; it was a shame that Sooyoung was not there to witness
the sweetest smile Sooyeon could ever offer then.

Chapter 6
The same night
Taeyeon rolled across the street, leaning his back against the brick wall as his eyes pierced through the
whole area, scanning for any movements. The street was cold and quiet.
Taeyeon took the silence as an opportunity and he turned his body and jumped up the wall, hanging
himself with his hands to check on the situation inside. The guards had just passed the area. Taeyeon
smirked as he rolled himself off the wall, successfully landing on the ground with minimum noise
created.
Not wasting anytime, Taeyeon sprinted stealthily towards the buildings, trying to locate his destination
while avoiding the guards on patrol. His leaned against the wall of a building, sticking his head out and
observed his surroundings.
His eyes lit up as he saw the plaque imprinted with The Judiciary fixed to the wall of a building opposite
of him. The only problem was the two sentries posting in front of the door. He needed to find another
way to get in.
Taeyeon took a long path to the back of the judiciary building. There was no back door without guards,
sadly. He proceeded to the other side of the building and was rejoiced when he saw a window, not far
from the ground and definitely a great pathway into the building.
The prince jumped into the building with a low thud. Immediately, he stood up and stuck to the wall and
observed his surroundings. Breathing through his black mask, Taeyeons eyes flickered around like an
eagle.
Letting out a heavy sigh, Taeyeon walked gingerly through the hallways on the concrete floor. He was in
the basement of the building; and it seemed there was nothing there as Taeyeon checked the only room.
There was a staircase at the end of the hallway.
Taeyeon climbed up the stairs hurriedly but halted abruptly as he heard footsteps coming closer. He
held his breath listening to the set of footsteps. Fortunately it just passed by without going to the stairs
where Taeyeon was at.
Making sure the guard was gone, Taeyeon set his feet on the ground floor of the building. There was a
room with lines and lines of rack full with manuscripts. Taeyeon smiled, figured that he might found the
right place.
Silently, Taeyeon tiptoed along the aisle, rummaged through the racks of documents trying to look for
something useful. He wished that he could at least find something about Sillas military information. The
prince flip opened some of the books, analyzing the contents in them carefully and swiftly.
It was until he made his way to the third aisle that his eyes stopped him from moving forward. The
document in his hands appeared to be some financial records of the officials. And there was something

odd about the numbers which Taeyeon could figure out easily from all those years of studying in the
palace.
Yeoksi Taeyeon smiled, Maybe I can make use of this
This was not what he came for but at least he found something that might be useful as a distraction to
the Sillas army. Rolling the manuscript into a small cylinder, Taeyeon tucked it into the inner of his tight
robe as he found something in it.
Why is this here?
Taeyeon wondered as he took out the soft fabric that its color almost blinded his eyes in the dim lights.
It was the pink mask that he wore several nights ago. He must have forgotten to return it to where it
belonged, on the laundering strings.
As Taeyeon was about to insert the garment into his robe, a set of footsteps alerted him as his heart
jumped and beat faster in nervousness. Someone was coming to his way! He could see the dim room
lightened by the light source of the torch holding by a guard.
Taeyeon hastily crouched down as the pink cloth decided to slip away from his hands and dropped onto
the ground near him. His eyes widened as he wanted to grab the piece of garment but the sound of
footsteps was getting louder and louder. Taeyeon knew he had to flee now or else he might get into a
huge trouble.
Taeyeon ran, bending as low as possible as he flashed through the aisles quickly to get to the only
entrance of the room. But his effort to stay stealthy was wasted as the guard caught his shadow as he
dashed through the entrance.
WHOS THAT?!!
Taeyeon ran as fast as he could, heading to the main entrance now knowing that he had already alerted
the guards. The silent night were now alive with shouting and gong beatings, all targeted to the intruder.
Taeyeon pushed the main door with all his strength, shocking the two sentries that were standing
outside. He did a fly kick to the left one and used the repulsive force to help him accelerate away from
the other guards.
There were more and more guards trailing behind him with weapons and torches. Taeyeon dashed
towards one of the wall and kicked the trunk of an old tree beside the wall, successfully bringing him
outside of the wall.
Landing effortlessly, Taeyeon kicked his leg and ran off into the shadows. The guards chased after him
but eventually they gave up, seeing no signs of the black masked trespasser.
I had found this A guard handed the pink cloth to a seemingly higher ranked official.
The pink-maskedrogue?

The official clenched the cloth in his hands, gritting his teeth as he looked towards the direction where
Taeyeon disappeared.

The next day

Hyoyeon watched as the scout hurried to his front. Behind them was the army of Baekje, lined up in
order and waited for Hyoyeons command.
General! The scout bowed, The army of Silla is slacking No sentinel on the watch!
Perfect. Hyoyeon smiled, Then we should follow the Princes order and attack now!
He raised his hands, signaled the army to prepare for the blitz. As planned, the Baekje army split into
two and marched towards Sillas campsite from different directions.
A firework burst into the mid air with loud screeching sound, burning in the bright sky. The Baekje army
knew this was the signal. They roared vigorously while starting to charge towards the camp of Silla.
Everything seemed perfect as Hyoyeon thought they would finally success in attacking their long time
enemy.
But he was wrong.
The army of Baekje was thrown into disarray when Sillas soldiers appeared from thin air by the side and
attacked their panicked enemy mercilessly. Hyoyeon stunned from the view in front of him, halting his
horse from advancing.
What the hell Hyoyeon gritted his teeth, They knew it all along! This is a trap! DARN IT!
RETREAT!! Hyoyeon yelled on the top of his lung, RETREAT!!
The army knew that the goddess of luck wasnt on their side; the only way was to retreat as what
Hyoyeon had ordered. Frantically, the army of Baekje withdrew themselves from the battlefield, running
disconcertedly from the Silla.
Fortunately, Silla didnt have any intention to chase after them as they too, drew back to their camp.
This abrupt and short-lived battle ended with the obvious losing of Baekje army, as they had lost more
soldiers than they had from the sudden reencounter of Silla.
Well done soldiers. Sooyoung smiled as he welcomed the victorious army.
The general of Silla, Hyomin bowed before him with his usual straight face. Sooyoung nodded mindlessly
as a reply before turning around, wanting to get back to his tent. But General Park stopped him before
he could do what he wanted.

Wangjanim. The general stepped forward as he had strategies in mind that he wanted to share with
their prince. While Sooyoung secretly sighed, didnt want to involve in any forms of conversation with
anyone now, when he was actually depressed from his current distant with his lover.
What it is, general?
Baekjes army are having their morale breakdown currently. From what I think, it is the best if we
General Park, Sooyoung interrupted him with a wave of his hands, Please talk to the advisor for this
matter. Im tired.
But Wangjanim Hyomin frowned.
Advisor. Sooyoung signaled the bearded man as he retreated to his tent.
Hyomin sighed, looking at the back of their prince. He didnt have much liking in the prince since the
latter was just like a thoughtless brat who only care about their fancy toys; and he definitely wouldnt
change his mind after today, when he noticed the prince had no interests in protecting and honoring
their country in any ways.

Meanwhile
Where could it be?
Miyoung fumbled through every corner of her chamber, but still couldnt find her favorite handkerchief.
It was a present from her mother, not to mention that it was pink! Miyoung had her brows crumpled
together when she found nothing after even searching around the house.
What are you looking for, Miyoung-ah? Lady Hwang asked as she was getting dizzier with Miyoung
going round and round in the small house.
Mother, do you remember the pink handkerchief you gave me? Miyoung pouted at her mother, I
cant find it!
Is that so? Lady Hwang frowned as she tried to remember the last time she saw the handkerchief, I
think I remember I laundered and hung it outside in the lawn
Miyoung headed out to the door after hearing that. She went and checked but there was no sign of the
handkerchief among all the laundries. Lady Hwang who went beside her patted her back.
Aigoo its okay Miyoung-ah. Just buy a new one! She took out an amount of money and shoved it into
Miyoungs hand.

But mother you gave me that. Miyoung sighed as she was really fond of that piece of cloth.
Its okay. Im buying you this new one as well. Lady Hwang smiled her eye smile to reassure her
daughter.
Miyoung nodded, though she was still pondering about how and where is it possible that she lost it.
Sighing, she bid goodbye to her mother and decided to go to the market to buy a new handkerchief and
a few daily necessities.

Why is it everyone gathered around there?

Miyoung let her curiosity lead her to the crowd. As she was approaching, she could hear a loud and firm
voice shouting out to the crowd.
He is framing our king and his highness loyal servants and trying to provoke rebellion! You should not
believe in such thief! Instead, The King has offered reward to anyone that catches this pink rogue mask!
Miyoung managed to squeeze through the crowd and was now witnessing how the officers teared down
pieces of papers from the wall. She managed to take a glance of the paper and was surprised that it was
written with rows and rows of numbers and names of some high-ranked officers.
What happened? Miyoung tried to ask an ahjumma beside her.
Aigoo these notices were sticking all around the town since this morning and theyre written with
the evidence of officers bribing history!
Oh my Miyoung gasped. This was definitely a serious matter since no one dared to challenge the
administration before.
Again! If anyone catches this pink masked rogue, The King will reward them generously!
Miyoung looked over to the officer announcing and was surprised when she saw the pink mask held in
the officers hand.
The article of garment that looked too familiar to her.
It was her pink handkerchief!
Why on earth her handkerchief was in the hand of the officer? Why were they assuming her pink
handkerchief as the rogues pink mask? If its so, how and why did the rogue got her pink handkerchief?
Who is this pink masked rogue?

Chapter 7
Taeyeon sat on the ground, taking off the small scroll of paper off the pigeon. Patting it, Taeyeon put the
pigeon into the cage beside him. He unwrapped the scroll of paper and began to read it.
As he deciphered the message on the paper, Taeyeon frowned deeply. The situation, according to
Hyoyeon, was not good at all. He needed to do something quick, in order to win this battle. He didnt
even get any useful information about Sillas military; he just did useless distraction to the local judiciary.
Taeyeon took out a brush and started to write a reply on a small piece of paper.
[Defend as best as you can. Give me time till the end of this month and I promise I will return with great
news.]
He rolled up the paper and took out the pigeon. Placing in the paper onto the little container tied at the
pigeons leg, Taeyeon set the bird fly.
Looking at the parting pigeon, Taeyeon huffed out a sigh.
He really needed to do something quick. The fate of the nation was in his hand while he was here doing
basically nothing. He felt disappointed at himself.
He had two weeks for him to do something.

Taeyeon walked into the land of Hwang resident and put the firewood he collected on the ground. The
moment he walked into the house, he was welcomed by the glares from Hwang Miyoung.
Before he could say anything, Miyoung walked towards him and dragged him by his hand.
You. Me. Talk. Now.
She led the way, dragging the oblivious Taeyeon along.

Taeyeon soon found himself standing on a riverside. Totally unaware of what Miyoung had to say,
Taeyeon could only looked at the said girl blankly.
Spill. Miyoung had her arms crossed. I know everything already.
Taeyeon was totally blank.
What? He asked innocently. What are you talking about?

Why did you steal my pink handkerchief?!

Taeyeon hung his jaw low as he heard that. How did she?
There is nobody else that would steal a handkerchief from strangers house and use it as mask, You
byuntae! And you! You must be lying about your intention here! Who are you, Taengoo?!
Taeyeon was shocked. His cover was blown.
I will now tell the administration officers that you are the pink masked rogue! Miyoung grunted and
stomped away after receiving no respond from the guy.
Wait!
Taeyeon ran up to her and blocked her way. Miyoung stopped as he wished and glared at him, waiting
for an answer.
Taeyeon was still debating if he should tell her the truth. But Miyoung started to walk again and this
made Taeyeon panicked.
Okay okay! I admit! Taeyeon shouted, Im the one who took your handkerchief because I had no
choice! Im the pink masked rogue they all talked about!
Miyoung turned around with her widened eyes.
I cant believe you are really that rogue! She had her shoulder slumped. What- why are you doing
this?
Wh-why? I I Now Taeyeon knew that he couldnt tell her this part of the truth. I cant tell you.
Really? Miyoung raised one of her brows, Then I need to ask the officers to found out then
No! Taeyeon frowned and scratched his head, I I really cant tell you. Its kind of personal.
Miyoung looked at him deeply as if she wanted to know if he was telling the truth. Eventually, she
sighed and nodded.
Very well. Ill just believe you this one time since you are actually doing something good for the
people here She said much to Taeyeons relieve.
Thank you. Taeyeon said.
He bowed a little before he suddenly remembered about something. Putting his hand into the pocket
inside his sleeve, Taeyeon fished out a piece of garment. He walked towards Miyoung and handed her
the cloth.
What is this? Miyoung asked as she took over the pink silk handkerchief.

I wanted to put this back on the hanger without being noticed Taeyeon smiled apologetically, But
since youve already found out I bought this as a compensation for the one I lost.
Miyoung looked back and fro at the handkerchief and Taeyeon. She didnt actually expected Taeyeon to
be like this, to be considerate enough to think of recompense her.
Thanks?
Youre welcome. Taeyeon showed her his huge dorky grin that Miyoung found cute.
Please, dont tell this to anyone else okay? He asked as they began to head towards the Hwangs.
Okay. Miyoung nodded; the handkerchief being clutched tightly in her hand.

Sooyoung sighed. The air in the tent was dead in silence and the prince couldnt felt anything else but
bored. He peeked at the two bodyguards stationing just beside the entrance. His eyes glittered
mischievously as he thought of an idea.
He faked a yawn, Guards I think I will rest soon. You can go now.
The bodyguards looked at each other before nodding, agreeing to what Sooyoung said. Sooyoung smiled
as they excused themselves. After making sure that the guards were gone, the prince stood up from his
chair and went towards the way out.
Lifting a little part of the curtain covering the entrance, Sooyoung stole a look to outside. He smirked
making sure that theres no one along the way of his escape. The prince lowered his body and sneaked
out of his tent cautiously.

Sooyeon walked along the corridor in the palace having just finished her chores of the day. She headed
towards the maids room, walking silently in the night.
Glancing to her right, she saw the place that made her stop on her track.
Prince Sooyoung
She couldnt help but thought about her lover. Before she knew, her feet had already brought her to the
princes room. Pushing the door open, Sooyeon stepped inside the deserted room cautiously. She
glanced around the dark room before lighting the candle set on the table, giving a weak source of light
to the room.
The girl paced slowly around the room, reminiscing every memories she spent there with Sooyoung.

The table that always served the princes favorite snacks; the chair that he always insisted her to sit even
though she shouldnt be; his favorite pot of flower that she taking extra care of; the bed thatGahh-mmpphh! She screamed her dolphin scream but was immediately muffled by someones hand.
Her eyes widened as she struggled in the intruders tight hold.
Shhh its me.
Sooyeons body instantly relaxed when she heard the voice. She felt the grip on her waist loosened. She
turned around and finally had her eyes met with the pair that she missed so much.
Prince Sooyoung She whispered as she eased her body onto Sooyoungs toned torso.
Sooyoung smiled as he wrapped his arms around her, letting comfortable silence taking over for awhile.
He then pulled out from the hug only to close in again and claimed the lips that he missed so much.
The kiss was a short but sweet one. Sooyoung smiled at his precious lover before taking her hands and
led her to sit on the bed.
I miss you so much. Sooyoung spoke, caressing the girls face so ever softly as if she was made by glass.
His eyes glittered with happiness, finally feeling content that he was by his lover side again.
I miss you too. Sooyeon shyly admitted with her head hung low.
Its so boring back in the camp! I cant stop thinking about you Sooyeon-ah
The words sunk in and Sooyeon finally recalled something. She raised her head and looked at the prince
abruptly.
Prince! You shouldnt be here! She frowned, feeling uneasy and guilty for some reason.
Sooyeon-ah, I thought we talked about this? Sooyoung smiled weakly as he took Sooyeons hands into
his, I need to see you. Nothing can stop me.
Sooyeon stared at the princes determined eyes. She sighed as she knew she could not convince him.
Sooyoung chuckled softly at her sigh.
Now, can I get a kiss from my beloved princess? Sooyoung smiled charmingly as he leaned closer to
Sooyeon.
The girl blushed at the princes sweet words. Im not a princess
You are, in my heart you are forever my one and only princess.
Sooyeon smiled shyly listening to his sweet talk while looking into his beautiful eyes. Slowly, she moved
herself closer to the prince and closed her eyes.

Sooyoung smiled as Sooyeons lips pressed lightly onto his. He snaked his hands around the girls waist,
pulling her closer and deepened the kiss.
Sooyoung broke the kiss but let his lips lingered by Sooyeons lips. The corner of his lips was crooked
into a satisfying smile as he slowly breathed in her sweet scent. Moving downwards, Sooyoung traced
his lips along her defined jaw line down to the crook of her neck.
P-prince Sooyeon breathed out, feeling Sooyoungs lips nibbling at her neck.
Call me Sooyoung.
Soo Sooyoung.
The prince pulled away from her neck and looked into her eyes. His hand stroke gently at her side,
before reaching to the coat-string that tied her hanbok, lightly pulling it.
Do you want this?
Im yours, Sooyeon placed her hands on Sooyoungs collar, Ive always been yours.
Sooyoung dove in and claimed her lips, giving her pleasures that she had never had the first time in her
life.

Chapter 8
Ughhh!
Taeyeon put down the sack of potatoes with difficulty. He puffed out a sigh and wiped the beads of
sweat on his forehead.
Are you even a man? Miyoung squinted her eyes at Taeyeon, as she put down another sack of
potatoes beside him.
Yah, what do you mean? Taeyeon retorted, Mine is heavier than yours!
Looking at his pouty lips, Miyoung couldnt help but let out giggles. Taeyeon who was bewildered by her
reaction just stood there puzzled.
S-sorry. Miyoung finally stopped her laugh, I know, I was just kidding.
Oh. Taeyeon mumbled.
He looked at the still smiling Miyoung and smiled as well. Suddenly, his body leaned in closer without
him knowing. He lifted his sleeve and approached Miyoung, wanting to help her wipe off her sweat.
Miyoung was stunned. She immediately took back a step.
I- I I have handkerchief She took out the pink handkerchief that Taeyeon gave her. T-thanks
anyway.
Taeyeon was embarrassed. He nodded and turned around to hide his face. While Miyoung also felt heat
on her face as she used the handkerchief to clean her face.
W-we need to take some of these and plant them in the lawn. Miyoung said after awhile.
O-okay.
Taeyeon helped Miyoung to pick a few potatoes and carried them to the small vegetable farm the
Hwangs had in their lawn. Squatting side by side, they started their work, planting the potatoes in
silence.
Taeyeon glanced at Miyoung that was dibbling holes on the soil to place the potatoes inside. He
widened his eyes when he noticed the clumsy way Miyoung when she used the sharp tool.
Yah, wait!
Taeyeon quickly grabbed the dribble away from Miyoungs hand, surprising the latter.
YAH! What are you doing?! Miyoung snapped.
This is dangerous! Taeyeon exclaimed, Let me do this!

What? Miyoung scoffed, Ive done this before I know how to use that!
Its dangerous Taeyeon insisted, as he dug another hole while Miyoung put in the potato. Youre
still a girl, Miyoung-ah.
Miyoung stopped what she was doing as she heard how Taeyeon called her. W-what did you call me?
Uhh, It was then Taeyeon noticed what he blurted out unthinkingly, M-Miyoung-ah?
Miyoung wanted to retort but somehow she couldnt. Her heart pounded loudly and she couldnt think
of anything clearly. She blinked a few times before lowering her head, wordlessly continued the
gardening work.
Mianhae Miyoung finally uttered after awhile of silence.
Taeyeon stopped what he was doing and looked at the girl, What did you say?
I said Im sorry! Miyoung muttered again edgily, for being rude
Taeyeon stunned for a minute before bursting out laughing. His loud, tinkling laugh filled the lawn while
Miyoung looked at him bewildered.
W-why are you laughing?!
N-nothing Taeyeon laughingly answered, Its just that its just that I never thought that you would
apologize
Mwo yah Miyoung pouted, I have manners too okay?
Alright alright. Taeyeon smiled looking at the girl, Im sorry too.
Miyoung glanced at him and the two began to have a staring contest. Taeyeons smile gradually
disappeared from his face as he felt himself being drawn towards Miyoungs eyes. The latter felt the
same as she forgot to blink for that moment.

Jeogiyo!
Taeyeon and Miyoung snapped out of the staring when they heard the loud voice coming from their
back. They turned around only to see a group of men wearing official uniform gathered around the
entrance of Hwangs lawn.
Miyoung glanced at Taeyeon who frowned knowing what might the officers want before standing up.
Yes, officers?

One of the officers stepped forward and held up a piece of notice, which Miyoung recognized as what
she saw in the market the other day. The notice was written with the description of the drawing which
was clearly the Pink Mask Rogue.
Have you seen this guy? The officer asked, eyeing Taeyeon, You there! Have you seen him?
Taeyeon stood up and went beside Miyoung, No, Ive never seen this guy before, sir.
Yes, me neither, sir. Miyoung uttered politely.
Hmm The officer hummed, as he continued to eye Taeyeon, Who is this guy? I havent seen you
around before.
As they lived in a small town, almost everyone knew everyone. The officer was sure that he had known
everyone in his town but he had never saw Taeyeon before.
I Taeyeon stuttered.
Hes my cousin! Miyoung quickly interrupted before Taeyeon would say anything wrong, He just
came from the Far East!
The officer let his eyes lingered on Taeyeon for awhile before turning his gaze to Miyoung.
Alright. He nodded, Be sure to inform us if you see the Pink Mask Rogue. Have a nice day.
The group of officers left after that. Taeyeon let out a deep breath as he loosened up from the tension
just now. Miyoung sighed as well, glad that the uniformed guys didnt suspect much.
Thanks, Miyoung-ah. Taeyeon showed a weak smile.
Youre welcome. Miyoung beamed her eye smile, Thank you too for doing this for our peoples sake.
Taeyeon didnt know what to answer as he was mesmerized by the eye smile. The corner of his lips
arched upwards involuntarily before he let out a few chuckles, feeling shy all of the sudden.
A-Aniya Its nothing great Taeyeon rubbed the back of his neck.
Anyway thanks. Miyoung smiled, squatting back down and prepared to work, Lets go back to work
now, oppa.
Taeyeon blushed realizing that it was the first time Miyoung had ever address him properly. Somehow
he began to like how the appellative rolled off Miyoungs tongue. He smiled his dorky smile before
squatting down and started to dig holes again.
Peeking at the girl, Taeyeon sighed as he became conscious of something.
I think I like her but is this a right thing to do? To be in love with a Sillas woman?

Later that night

Aigoo Im alright already! Lady Hwang sighed, I can cook! Let me cook for our guest!
No! Miyoung said firmly as she held her mother down on the chair, I will cook. Mother you just sit
here!
Taengoo-ah, please tell her to let me cook! Lady Hwang stared at the young guy hoping that he would
help her.
Im afraid I cant do that ahjumma. Taeyeon smiled apologetically, Miyoung is right. You still need to
rest
Miyoung smiled at Taeyeon as a thank you.
Lady Hwang sighed as she gazed at the two. So now you two gang up to bully me huh?
Aniyo ahjumma. Were doing this for your wellness.
Oppa is right. Please just let me cook for you.
Lady Hwang stared at the two suspiciously. Is there anything happened that I dont know? Why you
two suddenly became all friendly? Arent you hate each other?
Taeyeon widened his eyes, A-aniyo ahjumma! He stuttered. I dont hate her!
Miyoung arched her brow at Taeyeon before turning back to her mother. What are you talking about
mother? It is just that we had a bad start now were friends, right oppa?
Taeyeon tried hard to calm his heating face down as he saw the eye smile Miyoung was showing.
Y-yeah, of course.
Lady Hwang snickered as she noticed the flustered Taeyeon.
Alright alright I dont have much say after all She sighed.
Miyoung smiled happy that her mother finally gave in.
Good. Now Im going to cook us dinner. Miyoung uttered happily as she walked into the kitchen.
Taeyeon stood there while Lady Hwang suddenly spoke.
Yah, what are you waiting for? Lady Hwang scolded, Go and help her!

Huh? Taeyeon hoisted his brow confusedly, What?

Help her babo-yah! Lady Hwang ushered.
Taeyeon was bewildered by Lady Hwangs sudden excitement as he obeyed the old lady, walking into
the kitchen. While Lady Hwang tried to peek into the kitchen with a sly smile on her face, happy of her
little scheme to get the two some alone time.
Hey. Taeyeon greeted as he stood beside Miyoung who was cutting the vegetables. What can I do to
help?
Hmm? Miyoung muttered halfheartedly as she focused on the cutting, You dont have to.
But ahjumma asked me to
So youre not wanting to help actually? Miyoung stopped as she raised her head to look at Taeyeon
with a smile.
An-aniyo I-I mean, I want to help too. Taeyeon stammered.
Miyoung giggled at the panicking Taeyeon. She passed some potatoes into Taeyeons hands.
Wash and cut these.
A-alright.
Taeyeon took the potatoes and went to the sink. Putting them into a basket, Taeyeon froze at there. He
didnt know how to wash the potatoes properly. He blinked a few times as he looked back and fro at the
potatoes and Miyoung, wondering if he should just ask the girl.
Miyoung noticed that Taeyeon was just standing there doing nothing.
The potatoes dont know how to wash themselves, Taengoo.
Taeyeon jumped a little. Im your oppa Miyoung!
He was shocked that Miyoung had called him by his fake name. But somehow that only meant that
Miyoung was comfortable enough to call him that right?
Miyoung just merong-ed him as she went beside Taeyeon.
And and I dont know how to wash potatoes He chuckled softly.
Miyoung giggled quietly as she took a potato off the basket.
You just wash it like this, oppa. Miyoung said as she rubbed the soil off the surface of the potato and
cleaned it thoroughly.
Taeyeon watched intently and nodded. Okay, got it.

And cut it like this. Miyoung at the same time demonstrated how to cut it, Easy right?
Yeah. Taeyeon beamed as he smiled at Miyoung.
Great. Miyoung smiled back.

Lady Hwang laughed silently observing the young couple in the kitchen.
Aigoo, Im such a great matchmaker!

Chapter 9
Miyoung! Im going to the Seos! Lady Hwang said as she readied to walk out of the door.
What? Mother, youre not fully healed yet! Miyoung came out running from inside the house.
Im fine Aigoo The old lady sighed from her daughters over worrying, I can walk!
She then stomped her feet on the ground, proving to her daughter that shes all fine. Miyoung sighed as
she watched her stubborn mother.
Alright. Miyoung finally agreed, Ill accompany you to there.
No! Theres no need Miyoung-ah. Lady Hwang refused frantically, I can go alone!
But
No buts! The older Hwang interrupted, Ah! Taengoo has gone for so long! How about you go and find
him?
Taengoo oppa? Miyoung frowned, W-why would I find him?
Aigoo You you havent show him around the town yet! Lady Hwang quickly said, Taengoo should
have a proper guide!
Miyoung frowned feeling suspicious of her mothers intention, What are you planning actually mother?
N-nothing! Lady Hwang shook her head, Please, just go and find him
Miyoung furrowed her brows deeper but she couldnt win over her mother. She sighed before nodding
her head. Alright mother. Please be careful on the way mother.
I will. Lady Hwang smiled as Miyoung bowed her goodbye.
Miyoung looking at the back of her mother and huffed out a sigh, unable to comprehend what was in
her mothers mind.

Taeyeon sat on the riverside; his feet immersed in the cool soothing river water. Looking up into the
blue sky, he sighed remember the letter he just got from the carrier pigeon Hyoyeon sent him.
They lost some men again few days ago; the overall situation was not of good one for the Baekje army.
Hyoyeon told him that he had called for reinforcement hoping to turn the tide.
Baekje was losing.

Taeyeon felt his heart clenched. His fathers kingdom is losing and he was sitting there doing nothing. He
was such an unfilial son. But he knew he had to continue searching for the military information and
return with what he was looking for; or else the few weeks he spent here would be a waste.
Tonight I must find it tonight. Taeyeon made an oath to himself.

After playing awhile with the water, Taeyeon decided that he should go back; he had been out for quite
a long time now. As he withdrew his feet from the water and dragged himself up, he heard a familiar
sound from behind.
Taengoo oppa!
Taeyeon jumped a bit before turning around to see Miyoung came running towards him. He arched his
brows wondering why the girl would be there. His lips formed a smile involuntarily as he watched the
latter ran towards him.
You scared me, Miyoung-ah. Taeyeon chuckled as Miyoung stopped in front of him. Why are you
here?
Miyoung giggled apologetically before answering, Hmm Mother asked me to look for you.
Ahh, is that so? Taeyeon became curious, Why is ahjumma looking for me then?
Umm, nothing. Miyoung quickly said, Shes out to a friends house. She just wanted me to find you.
Huh? Taeyeon now was confused, Thats weird.
I know right? Miyoung giggled looking at Taeyeons puzzled face, Anyway, where are you going now?
I was about to go back.
Really? Miyoung mumbled, unconsciously pouted her lips from disappointment.
Taeyeon was surprised to see this side of Miyoung. He smiled softly at the cute sight as he spoke.
Why? Do you have anywhere to go?
N-not really Miyoung bit her lips while lowering her head. She still felt shy to have to ask Taeyeon if
he wanted to tour around the town with her.
Then lets go home?
Taeyeon bent down a bit to have his eyes on Miyoungs level. He asked softly while trying to look into
Miyoungs eyes. Unable to get an answer, Taeyeon shrugged and started to walk towards the direction
of the Hwangs residence.

Taeyeon thought his heart almost stopped when he felt a soft hand tugged at his sleeves. Turning
around, Taeyeon found Miyoung tugging his sleeves with her head hanging low.
L-lets lets walk around the town? She barely muttered.
Somehow the sight in front of him made Taeyeons face heated. Miyoung was just too adorable without
her loud voice and glaring eyes. Opps, dont let Miyoung hear that.
Smiling, Taeyeon decided to tease the girl.
Huh? Taeyeon leaned closer to her pretend that he missed what she said, You were saying?
Miyoung flinched and frowned as she repeated in a soft voice.
Lets walk around the town
Walk around the what? Taeyeon smirked secretly.
While the brunette had her brows crumpled together out of frustration.
I said! Lets walk around the town! She snapped, this time a lot louder.
And it hit Taeyeon on the spot. He burst out laughing loudly holding his stomach. Miyoung who was
stunned, stood by him with her eyes as wide as saucer. Finally after a few seconds, Miyoung somehow
grasped what was the whole situation about.
She gasped from realization and went forward to hit the laughing guy numerously on his arms.
Yah! Hahaha! Yah stop! Stop! Taeyeon tried hard to block Miyoungs attack while laughing hysterically,
It hurts!
You tricked me! Miyoung continued her merciless attack nonetheless, Gahh!
Taeyeon laughed as he tried to stop Miyoungs hitting. Finally, he got hold onto Miyoungs wrists,
stopping her assault.
Alright. Taeyeon chuckled, locking Miyoungs hands with his, Im sorry I tricked you but you dont
have to hit me that hard right?
Miyoung pouted; her brows arched upwards with her eyes widened, looking totally like a pleading kitten.
You bullied me. She muttered, trying to struggle from Taeyeons grasp but to no avail.
Taeyeons smile frozen as he realized their close proximity. Miyoungs hands were held tight by his
hands; their body stood close as Miyoung looked up towards him and him staring at her.
Miyoung stopped her struggling as well when she found no movement from Taeyeon. The latter was just
staring at her and it made her feel heated.

W-what? She murmured, avoiding Taeyeons gaze.

Yes.
Huh? Miyoung looked up again when she heard Taeyeon said that.
Yes. Taeyeon repeated, smiling, Lets tour around the town! How about we start with the market,
eh?
Without waiting for a reply, the suddenly excited guy let go of his grasp on Miyoungs hands, only to
hold her right hand again with his large one. Miyoung widened her eyes as she felt herself being dragged
away with Taeyeons hand holding onto hers.
With her free hand, Miyoung touched her cheeks and was surprised to find her face burning. Looking at
the guy walking in front of him, Miyoung bit her lips as her hand moved to place on her chest.
Taeyeon walked in the front, feeling the electrifying warmth being transferred from where he held
Miyoungs hand. Smiling to himself, Taeyeon tightened his hold as he walked towards the market.
Ive fallen for her.
Ive fallen for him?

Later that evening

Ppp-wahahahaha!
Y-Yah!
Ouch! Taeyeon whimpered as Miyoung smacked his arm again. He was sure that his arm was all red by
now. Miyoung-ah! I was just kidding!
Hmmpphh! Miyoung puckered her lips, No funny at all!
Hahaha Taeyeon wiped the tears from the corner of his eyes, But I didnt know you would fell for
that!
You told me it was real Miyoung sulked.
Taeyeon chuckled as Miyoung and him walked into the Hwangs lawn. Miyoung was pulling at his
sleeves whining that it was unfair that Taeyeon tricked her again as they reached the door.
Ladies first! Taeyeon bowed as he pushed opened the door for Miyoung.

Miyoung giggled and skipped into the house but was surprised immediately.
Surprise!
There were three old ladies with another two young ladies standing around the table, holding their
hands up.
Taeyeon followed behind Miyoung and was stunned when he saw what was in front of him.
W-what is this? Taeyeon whispered as he stood beside Miyoung who was bewildered by the scene in
front.
I dont know Miyoung whispered to him before looking expectantly at her mother, What is this,
mother?
Aigoo Miyoung-ah! Lady Hwang came forward smiling, I guess you forgot about this?
About what? Miyoung arched her brows; Taeyeon just stared at them obliviously.
Aigoo Lady Hwang sighed, One month is almost over Miyoung-ah
Miyoung froze after she heard what her mother said. Only then that she remembered that her time
here was almost over.
Taeyeon blinked his eyes and looked back and fro at the Hwangs, having no idea of what was going on.
So Im holding this farewell party for you Miyoung-ah Lady Hwang smiled, patting her astonished
daughter before gesturing to the people behind her, See! Lady Seo, Lady Kim, and Lady Jeon and your
friends YongJoo and EunHye are here too!
Farewell party? Taeyeon could only look at Miyoung confusingly.
Miyoung took a quick glance at Taeyeon before looking at her mother with a weak smile.
Oh She tried to smile brightly, I totally forgot about it
We were waiting for you for awhile now Lady Hwang suddenly said, peeking at Taeyeon who had a
blank face on, You were having a good time with Taengoo, huh?
Miyoung blushed with her eyes widened. Taeyeon smiled sheepishly while rubbing the back of his neck.
Y-Y-YongJoo! Miyoung quickly went to one of her friends to avoid her mothers interrogation. How
have you been?
Im fine Miyoung its been awhile
Taeyeon watched as the girls chatted animatedly. Lady Hwang looked at him with a smile.
Come, Taengoo She patted Taeyeons hand, Lets join them

Alright
Taeyeon followed Lady Hwang; his mind was still filled with what he heard from the Hwangs just now.
What do they mean by farewell party? What is it about one month is almost over?

Chapter 10
The same night
The house was pitch dark. The farewell party was over and the guests were already back to their own
respective houses. While Lady Hwang and Miyoung also returned to their chambers.
Taeyeon rolled to another side of the straw mat, adjusting his head on the wooden pillow. Unable to
feel comfortable, the Baekje prince turned again to another side, huffing a quite sigh. Finally feeling
frustrated by himself, Taeyeon sat up on the straw mat.
He sighed, What the hell is wrong with you Kim Taeyeon...
Rubbing his face, Taeyeon took a deep breath as the flashes of what happened just now jumbled in his
mind.

Flashback
Everyone sat around the table, merrily chatting and drinking. The attention was of course on the subject
of celebration, Miyoung. The girls couldnt seem to stop talking this and that with Miyoung, while the
latter obviously was sidetracked with something looming in her mind.
Lady Hwang was having animated chat with the other three ahjummas. But she didnt forget to keep an
eye on her daughter and Taengoo. She knew something had happened since the two stepped into the
house with joyful giggles.
In the midst of the merriness going on, Taeyeon sat alone by the table, sipping the makgeolli the host
prepared. He watched the ladies talk, tasting the strong but sweet alcohol in his mouth.
Farewell party one months almost over The two sentences kept roaming around his mind, Does it
mean that Miyoung is leaving? Where is she going?
Taeyeon sighed secretly, taking another sip of makgeolli. He guessed he was the only one there who
didnt know what this party was totally about. He felt left out actually, but who was him to say anything?

Oh girls I think we left someone alone. Miyoung told her two friends as she watched Taeyeon walked
out of the house, pacing in the lawn. I better go and check on him
Who is that guy by the way? YongJoo smirked, Your lover?
Miyoung blushed intensely as she heard that, An-Aniyo
He looks like a good guy though EunHye uttered as she peeked at Taeyeon.

Hmm Miyoung didnt know how to reply her friend, Excuse me

Miyoung smiled at her friends before excusing herself from the house, walking towards Taeyeon who
was wandering around the little vegetable garden at the lawn.
Hey
Taeyeon was surprised when a voice appeared behind him out of the blue. He turned around to see
Miyoung standing behind him with a small smile. He smiled back briefly.
What are you doing here? Miyoung spoke as she stood beside Taeyeon.
Nothing just checking on the potatoes Taeyeon let his gaze fall randomly on the ground.
Miyoung giggled softly, We just planted it like two days ago, oppa
Hmm.
Instead of answering, Taeyeon started to walk around the lawn with Miyoung trailing behind. Miyoung
stared at the guys back, wondering what was bothering the latter as he seemed distracted.
Are you Taeyeon stopped abruptly and turned to face Miyoung who got surprised by his sudden halt.
Are you going anywhere?
Eh? Miyoung hoisted one of her brows, No, Im just following you why?
No not that Taeyeon sighed, I mean I mean like this entire farewell party thing FAREWELL
party that.
Oh Miyoung bit her lips; she almost forgot that Taeyeon didnt know a thing about her work in the
palace and her stay here was just a visit. That
Taeyeon stared at the girl, expecting an answer.
Umm the fact is that I work in the palace. Miyoung admitted, lifting her head to look at Taeyeon, I
stay there as well so actually I got one months break to come and visit my mother And there are
just a few days before that one month ends.
Taeyeon was stunned for a moment. He stared blankly at Miyoung before he finally grasped what
Miyoung was saying.
O-oh He nodded awkwardly with his lips pressed together, A-alright
Miyoung smiled weakly as she hung her head low.
You know I dont really feel like going back actually
Taeyeon looked at Miyoung, still trying to calm his heart down.

I I understand. Youll miss your mother surely.

Its not- Miyoung almost slipped the words out but she stopped suddenly, Its its like that I guess.
Taeyeon forced a smile back at the girl as the latter showed the same, both having a different emotion
hiding underneath those smiles.
End of Flashback
Taeyeon ruffled his own long hair as he couldnt comprehend why he was having this strong dejected
feeling in his heart.
I couldnt possibly fall this hard for Miyoung in less than one month right?
He furrowed his brows, huffing out a long breath as he looked around. He needed something to distract
himself. Looking to his right, he found his satchel containing his rogue outfit.
Might as well search for some information now He decided immediately.

Sprinting in the cold night, Taeyeon ran between alleys to alleys that he had became familiar with. The
night was empty with barely any people in it, making this much more easier for the pink masked rogue.
He ran towards the local judiciary, trying to take a look on the situation before deciding if he should get
in.
As he ran across a main street, footsteps could be heard from his front. Taeyeon immediately stopped
on his track and jumped towards an alley beside to hide for awhile.
Hey do you know about the war? A drunkard said to his partner.
Y-yeah You mean the war with Baekje?
Taeyeon held his breath as he heard what the two were saying. He decided he should eavesdrop and
maybe he could know some latest information of the war from them.
Right! B-Baekje! Theyre going to lose soon!
Hahaha of course! Our country always wins!
With our General Park, we will never lose!
Youre right General Park is the best in using tactics and schemes to attack theres no way Baekje
can win against us!
Hey I heard that the General has a scroll full of tactics listed!

Woah I would totally like to take a look on that

Yeah yeah you will never they say its hidden in the Park residence with secure!
Really oh then never mind we just need General Park to win in the war Hahaha!

Taeyeon walked out of the darkness as the two drunkards wobbled further away. His fists were
tightened as he clenched his teeth from hearing what they said about his country. But he couldnt do
anything rush. He needed to focus on his task instead. Anyway, he had gotten a quite useful information
from the drunkards.
I need to find the scroll!

After searching here and there with a little detour, Taeyeon finally found himself standing before the
building of Park Residence.
Alright. This is it. Taeyeon scanned through the area with his determined gaze. Hwaiting Taeyeon!
Hopping off the wall, Taeyeon hid himself immediately in the bushes quietly. After making sure that
there was no movements around, he rolled out from the bushes and leaned himself on the wall of the
building.
Front door was guarded with two watchmen so it was not an option. Taeyeon sprinted quietly towards
the opposite direction to find if there was any side doors or backdoor.
Halting abruptly, Taeyeon hid behind another wall when he heard footsteps nearing. There was guard
on patrol as well.
They sure have tight security for a generals residence.
Noticing that it was just a guard alone patrolling, Taeyeon took his chances and assault the guard. He
dashed behind the guard and before the latter could respond, Taeyeon twisted his neck. The guy fell on
the ground without even a whimper.
Taeyeon dragged the body into a nearby bushes, hiding the dead body well. He then proceeded on his
way towards the back of the Park Residence.
Seemed like the patrol he just killed was the only one guarding the back, the whole back garden seemed
empty. Taeyeon walked carefully before he finally found a door.
Fortunately it wasnt locked. Taeyeon cracked open the door and made sure the coast was clear first
before entering the building.

The room was dark, as Taeyeon supposed it was a storeroom in the back. He needed to find General
Parks room, where he assumed that the latter might hid the scroll in.
Pacing through the hallway silently, Taeyeon avoided the bright parts of the corridors and hid himself in
the shadows. His eyes flickering around to search for the room that might be the Generals room.
Hiding himself away from a working maid, Taeyeon jumped noiselessly into a room. As he got up, his
eyes lit up finding himself in most probably the Generals room. The room was vast but neat.
Bookshelves took up two portion of the wall with a big wooden table sat in the corner of the room.
As he looked through the books and scrolls on the shelves, Taeyeon was surer that he was in the
Generals room as the books and scrolls were all of military and strategies ones. Quietly, he traced his
fingers on every single scroll on the shelves, trying to look for anything that might be General Parks
scroll of war tactics.
I think I heard something in masters room.
Are you sure? Maybe its just a rat or something
Lets check it out.
Taeyeon froze as he heard the voices of the conversation getting nearer. He swiftly rolled himself to
another side of the room, hiding himself beside the bookshelf. Panicking, Taeyeon accidentally knocked
over a pile of scrolls hanging out from the bookshelf.
Taeyeon widened his eyes as the sound of the scrolls falling was obvious. He looked at the pile of scrolls
and was surprised to read the title of the scroll.
Tactics against Baekje Taeyeon spoke through his new pink mask.
Taeyeon knew he had found it. He picked it up quickly and hid it into his robe as the door of the room
opened with two sets of footsteps nearing. Taeyeon knew he couldnt hide any longer here. He must
made an escape.
Flickering his eyes around, Taeyeon observed the structure of the room and made an escape route. The
two set of footsteps drew near, as Taeyeon suddenly jumped out from the shadow and tackled the left
man. The guy fell on the ground as Taeyeon hit his head hard making him lose his consciousness. The
other guy gasped from shock as he quickly responded and chased after the mysterious intruder.
Taeyeon stopped from his running and gave the chasing guy a high kick as he used the repulsive force to
flee to the other direction.
The commotion inside the house must had alerted the guards outside. They rushed inside the house but
were immediately kicked out by Taeyeon who was running for the front door.
Incessantly, Taeyeon sent the men flying out with his power kicks. Guards lied on the ground groaning in
pain as the others continued to surround the now-recognized-pink-masked-rogue.

Now where do these guards come from?

Taeyeon frowned as more and more guards came. They came over and over again even Taeyeon had
lost count of how many enemies he had took down.
As he sent a hard punch to a guard in front of him, Taeyeon didnt notice that a guard was behind him.
The guard took the chance to grab him from behind and locked him into his hold. Taeyeon widened his
eyes as he couldnt move his hands.
A guard smirked as he walked towards Taeyeon, trying to pull down the mask on Taeyeons face.
Taeyeon struggled as he fortunately still had the freedom of his legs. Sending a high kick out of the
surprise of the guards, Taeyeon knocked down the guard in front of him and elbowed the guard holding
him.
Freeing himself, Taeyeon continued to fight against the guards as he made his way towards the wall.
Kicking another guard onto the ground, Taeyeon turned around and quickly climbed over the wall and
made a run for it.
After running for dont know how long, Taeyeon stopped and hid himself in the dark alley. Panting,
Taeyeon took out the scroll from his robe and smiled. He finally had found something useful. Now, he
needed to hand this to his army as soon as possible.
Taeyeon decided that his army should have this scroll right at that moment. Regaining his strength,
Taeyeon ran towards a house that happened to have horses and took one from the horse stable.
Riding on the horse, Taeyeon sprinted out of Silla and headed towards his armys camp.

Chapter 11
General Kim! An advisor hurriedly entered Hyoyeons tent. I heard the prince was here! Is that true?
Hyoyeon stood up from his seat and nodded.
Yes, his highness came last night with a very valuable information.
Then wheres his highness?
His highness is back to the town Hyoyeon answered, Theres something in that town that his
highness needs to be settled first
Ahh I understand. The advisor bowed. Well then, general. What should we do now?
Ive got this scroll of tactics the Sillas general is using. We shall research on this and find strategies to
tackle them.
Youre absolutely right, general. The advisor smiled, Well I shall gather the others now.
Very good then. Hyoyeon said firmly, We shall attack Silla soon.

The next day

So as I said Prince Hyomin pointed at the map lied on the big table in the middle of the tent, With
the help of terrain, tomorrow is the best day to end this war.
Very well. Sooyoung nodded, You have my trust, General Park.
Thanks, your highness. Hyomin bowed, Then we should-
A watchman rushed inside the tent abruptly, panting hardly while the prince and the general looked at
him.
Your h-highness General The guard stuttered, Baekje Baekje is attacking!
Hyomin had his eyes widened as he rushed out of the tent followed by Sooyoung and the guard, Why
the clarion wasnt blow?! He snapped.
Theythey The guard pointed at the high lookout place, They shot our bugler.
Hyomin was pissed off.
Call all our men! I need them ready right now!

The guard quickly went and took over the clarion, blowing it to indicate that the enemy was arrived. The
Sillas army gathers in lines in front of the campsite in no time.
Hyomin rode on his steed in front of all his men, watching as the Baekjes army heading towards them.
Were going for the sixth formation! Hyomin shouted, signaling the bugler beside him to blow the
clarion six times.
In a blink of an eye, half of the army disappeared to different direction, leaving Hyomin and another half
in the same place, facing the Baekje. As the Baekje army drew in, Hyomin roared as he held his sword
high.
ATTACK!!!
Clarions were blown. Sillas army charged toward the Baekje that was dashing towards them as well.
BACK!! Hyomin shouted as the clarion beside him blew the horn twice, and immediately a division of
Sillas men emerged from the back of Baekje. Hyomin smirked.

But Hyoyeon had known since the clarions had been blown. He studied the scroll of Hyomins tactics
whole night, memorizing every single strategy that was written inside. In his cue, the archers shot their
arrows high towards their back. Another team of army suddenly appeared behind Sillas and tackled
them from their back.
Hyomin was surely taken aback by Baekjes counter attack. He had never thought his strategy would be
countered. The general of Silla quickly changed the formation of his army to gather all his men and
confront Baekje directly.
Hyoyeon and the soldiers of Baekje were in high spirit after seeing that they could actually win against
Silla with Hyomins scroll in their hands. This might be their chance to fight back and even win this war.
Hyoyeon gave out a signal as their bugler blew the war horn a few times. The general of Baekje was
going to use Hyomins tactics against Hyomin himself. Being already memorized with the tactics, the
Baekje army separated themselves into three divisions and started to attack.
Sillas army was at a loss. They didnt know how to react while Hyomin was stunned by what happened
as well. But he soon realized that it was his own tactics that was used by their enemy. Although his
blood was boiling with rage, Hyomin knew that he couldnt just attack recklessly. He needed to think of
a new strategy.
For the first time, Hyomin gestured his men to retreat.
RETREAT!!

Sillas army gradually retreated back to their camp with the help of their archers. Though Baekje wanted
to catch up and end this war, but the arrows rained heavily leaving them with no choice but to retreat as
well.
But this time finally, that Baekje had once win. The soldiers were cheering happily, while Hyoyeon was
being applauded for his leadership. The whole camp was in the mood of celebration as if they had won
the war.
CHEERS! For all your hard work, we shall drink till dawn! Hyoyeon held his glass high up as the soldiers
shouted joyfully.
Hyoyeon drank his glass in one shot as a soldier poured some more for him. Looking at his comrades,
Hyoyeon smiled satisfyingly.
I shall report this to Prince Kim soon

Meanwhile
Whoa Taeyeon halted the horse before hopping off, arriving in front of the Hwangs residence.
He walked into the house, knowing that the Hwangs must be wondering about his whereabouts for the
last three days. Right, the journey to Baekje camp took him three days to return. He had never told the
Hwangs that he was leaving as it was a rather last minute decision as well.
Pushing the door open, Taeyeon found no one in the living room.
Ahjumma? He called cautiously, Miyoung?
He frowned when there was no reply. He went towards the kitchen, and then the rooms but he found
no one in the house. Puzzled, Taeyeon walked out to the front lawn but see no one as well.
Where could they be?
As Taeyeon wondered, Lady Hwang appeared at the entrance. She saw Taeyeon and was really shocked.
Ahjumma! Taeyeon smiled widely as he finally saw one of the Hwangs. He ran towards the old lady
and gave her a hug. Ahjumma where have you been?
Thats the question I want to ask you. Lady Hwang walked past Taeyeon and entered the house.
Taeyeon was flabbergasted by Lady Hwangs question. He followed behind and entered the house as
well.

Im sorry, Taeyeon looked at the old lady sitting by the table, There was something sudden came up
so I had to go out of town
Miyoung is right Who are you actually? Lady Hwang stared at him with suspicion in her eyes now,
What is that something that you cant even inform us beforehand?
It was a really last minute thing Im really sorry ahjumma. Taeyeon apologized sincerely as he bowed
in 90 degrees.
Lady Hwang sighed. Im not blaming you, Taengoo. But you really disappointed someone.
D-disappointed someone? Taeyeon arched his brows.
Lady Hwang shook her head and turned her head around, avoiding Taeyeons questioning gaze.
Hmm? Taeyeon frowned as he flickered his eyes around, Where is Miyoung?
Lady Hwang sighed again, this time deeper. And that made Taeyeon worried. He sat down beside the old
lady and tried to catch her eyes.
Where is Miyoung?
Lady Hwang looked at the young guy before huffing another sigh. That only made Taeyeon more anxious
as he sat closer to the old lady and questioned again.
Miyoung she Lady Hwang uttered slowly, She went back to the palace
W-what? Taeyeon stuttered, S-she went back? W-when?
Just yesterday Lady Hwang said, She waited for you, you know?
Uh Ohh Taeyeon answered blankly, I I am sorry.
Dont apologize to me, babo! Lady Hwang knocked Taeyeons head, Apologize to my daughter!
Uhmm I will Taeyeon muttered as he stood up from his seat, Can can I excuse myself for awhile?
Of course.
With that, Taeyeon walked back to his room. Locking the door up, Taeyeon slumped sitting on the floor.
Eotteoke? Taeyeon whispered to himself.
He was going back to settle things here, as what he had told Hyoyeon. But he was still in a daze about
Miyoung. He was sure that he had develop feelings for Miyoung and he was not going to deny it. He
never had stronger feelings for others compared with Miyoung.
But he was a prince in Baekje. This shouldnt be a problem but when the woman he had fallen for is one
of the enemy country, his status messed everything up.

He was just going to collect useful information here to ensure his country would win the war.
But now he had fallen for Miyoung.
I need to go back to the camp Hyoyeon needs me the army needs me my country needs me
Taeyeon was in a huge dilemma, But I cant just leave like this Miyoung must be mad that I left
without saying anything and I I need to tell her.

Chapter 12
The day Miyoung left
Ahh! My child! The Queen of Silla hurried to the door with amiable smile as Miyoung entered the
queens room as ordered.
Miyoung bowed at the queen politely. Yes my queen
Come The queen held Miyoungs hand gently and guided her towards the table in the middle of her
room.
How was your visit to your hometown? The queen asked after she successfully pulled Miyoung to sit
down beside her.
It was great, my queen. Miyoung showed a polite smile. She couldnt help but thought of Taeyeon
who went missing the day before.
Thats good. The queen nodded satisfyingly while patting the young girls hand, Ahh Im so happy
that youre back Miyoung-ah I miss your singing.
Miyoung bowed her head, May I sing for your majesty now?
Oh its okay you should rest first. But The queen raised her index finger, tomorrow I will hold a
bouquet! And I want you to sing for me and the guests!
Its my pleasure, your majesty. Miyoung nodded with a smile.
Very well! The queen laughed happily before excusing Miyoung.. Then you shall rest well now.

The next day

The queen sat in the middle of grand hall, before her majesty were the royals and rich merchants
dressed in glamorous, extravagance attires. Maids stood aside prepared to serve the guests. Lavish
cuisines laid on the ornate tables for each of the guests.
Now, lets hear from my favorite singer, Hwang Miyoung. The queen smilingly gestured Miyoung who
stood outside the door to come in. The guests applauded anticipating the nations beauty singing.
Miyoung stepped into the hall wearing polite smile; her delicate body clad in cherry sleek gown as she
posed to the guests and the queen.
Miyoung is here to sing for your entertainment. Miyoung bowed to the guests and the queen.

Alright. You can sing now. The queen gestured Miyoung to sing.
As Miyoung opened her mouth, melodious voice spread through the whole room astonishing every
souls presented there. The vocalist put her emotions into her feelings as she sang out the lyrics.
Unquestionably every single one in the room was all deeply enthralled with the girls performance. One
man of all had his eyes fixed at her with an unwavering stare. His lips crooked into a devious smile,
nodding satisfyingly.
Miyoung reopened her eyes as she sang the last note, smiling courteously as she bowed ending her
performance. The Queen was the first one to stand up and applaud followed by all the guests.
Well done my child! The queen spoke happily as she clapped her hands. Everyone, that was one
remarkable show from Hwang Miyoung!
Miyoung bowed thanking the compliment before she wanted to excuse herself to the side as she always
did. But something stopped her from doing so.
Your Majesty! A man stood up suddenly stopping Miyoung from her track. I have a small request, my
queen.
Miyoung hung her head low and tried to leave again.
Hwang Miyoung-ssi!
Miyoung widened her eyes as she stopped again, didnt know how to react as she heard the calling of
the man.
The queen was puzzled as well, staring questionably at the man as well.
Ahh forgive my rudeness, my queen. The man bowed, I am Kwon Yuri, a local gold merchant
The queen nodded, gestured Yuri to continue.
My queen, you are right! Hwang Miyoung-ssi is really a goddess of beauty and melody! I truly admire
her. If I may, I would like to get to know more about her, my queen.
The queen frowned at the first ever bold request that any guests had asked before. Unable to respond
at the sudden question, the queen looked at Miyoung. Miyoung had her eyes widened from the daring
request as well. Exchanging gaze with the queen, Miyoung shook her head lightly to indicate that she
didnt want to have anything to do with the man.
She was just a petty and low servant performing for the pleasure of the queen and her guests; she never
wanted to have any business related with any other men other than singing.
The queen nodded as she grasped Miyoungs preference. Turning her gaze back to Yuri who still
standing waiting for an answer, the queen spoke.

Im sorry Yuri-ssi but Im afraid that Miyoung is not available.

Not even a light chat? Yuri boldly asked again.
The queen glanced at Miyoung before answering, Yes, not even a light chat.
Yuri turned his gaze at Miyoung, his eyes squinting with a hint of desire and dissatisfaction of
disapproval. He then looked back at the queen and bowed, I understand. Sorry for my rudeness, my
queen.
The man sat down and the banquet resumed its routine. Miyoung excused herself from the banquet
quietly as Yuris gaze never left her until she disappeared in his sight.

Miyoung sighed as she walked on the empty corridor. She was awfully pressured by what happened just
now; and the creepy gawks that Yuri gave her just sent goosebumps around her. She just had a bad
feeling about the guy and she would never want to see him again.
She continued her walk along the deserted hallway towards her chamber. Somehow she felt uneasy as if
someone was staring at her, or even following her. Her heart started to thump faster as the fear crept
inside her. But she didnt dare to look back; she just continued to walk faster towards her chamber. How
she wish she could bump into some maids but there was none.
As she turned a corner, Miyoung suddenly heard footsteps hurrying towards her. She bit her lips in
nervousness as she tried her hardest to walk faster.
She nearly yelped when someone grabbed her from behind but was muffled by someone covering her
mouth. Miyoungs eyes went as wide as saucer, afraid that her biggest fear was coming true.

Chapter 13
My queen Yuri bowed in the middle of the banquet. Please excuse me. I have some personal
business and hope to leave now.
The queen nodded; the banquet was almost over anyway. She gestured one of the maids to guide the
gold merchant out of the hall. Yuri smirked as he bowed to the queen once again, before walking out
from the hall.
Now where can she be? Yuri walked aimlessly inside the palace, hoping to find the girl who caught
his heart at his first sight.
Must be around the servants quarters Yuri walked towards where he supposed was the direction to
the servants dorms.
The walkways were all empty and quiet. It seemed like most of the maids where at the banquet to serve
the important guests there. But this also made it easier for Yuri to excess quite many prohibited places
around the palace.
Suddenly, Yuri heard footsteps and as he took a look, he caught a glance of the back of a certain girl.
Smirking slyly to himself, Yuri speeded up and grabbed the girls shoulder.

Shhh its me.

Miyoung felt her heart stopped as she heard the voice of the intruder. The guy released his hands from
Miyoungs mouth as the latter turned around to take a good look at the mans face.
Taengoo oppa! Miyoung jumped as she felt relieved and happy at the same time. You dont know
how scared I was! I thought something bad is going to happen to me!
Sorry Taeyeon chuckled while rubbing the back of his neck shyly, I
Wait. Miyoung interrupted as she looked around quickly, Why are you here?! You cant be here! This
is the palace!
Uhh I Taeyeon tried to explain but Miyoung stopped him again. She covered Taeyeons mouth in a
swift movement as she dragged the guy to somewhere where they wouldnt be found. Taeyeon was
bewildered but he could do nothing but just to follow the girl.
Okay Miyoung let out a relieved sigh as she released Taeyeon from her grasp. Now you can speak,
but try to keep it low. The girl put her index finger onto her lips while whispered.

Uhh Taeyeon sat down when Miyoung did the same onto the marble rocks decorating the small
lakeside they were at. Nice view here?
Miyoung showed him the Are-you-serious look as she shoved Taeyeon with her shoulder playfully.
Sorry. Taeyeon smiled briefly, I uhh I think I owe you some explanation.
Exactly Miyoung uttered as she let her gaze fall onto the lake water. The moon was full and dazzling
that night, cascading its beam onto the still lake surface, making it gleaming with silver glitters.
Taeyeon tilted his head and took a brief look at Miyoung. She looked so beautiful, having to still wearing
her stage outfit and makeup. Her red lips almost glittered in the moonlight; and her rosy cheeks were
the best pink color Taeyeon had ever seen in his life.
Imitating Miyoung, Taeyeons eyes were locked onto the lake water. He glad that he found Miyoung
here.
Taeyeon was very much devastated with what he should do, to go back to the camp or to search for
Miyoung. Luckily a letter arrived in the afternoon that day saved him from killing anymore brain cells.
Hyoyeon had informed him in the letter that they won the last confront with the scroll Taeyeon brought
to them. At that exact moment, Taeyeon knew he needed to go search for Miyoung.
You look different. Taeyeon spoke finally after awhile of silence.
Yah Miyoung felt heat creeping up her cheeks but she hid it and smacked Taeyeon on his arms, an
usual gesture whenever she was shy around Taeyeon, This is not what I want to hear from you!
What do you want me to say then? Taeyeon smiled.
Why Miyoung turned her gaze to Taeyeon, Why you left that day without telling?
Taeyeons smile gradually disappeared from his face as he tried to think of how he should answer that.
He couldnt tell Miyoung the truth, not yet. He hated to lie to Miyoung but there was no other option for
him.
I Taeyeon uttered, I had something urgent came up. I needed to leave at that point.
What is it? Miyoung asked. She couldnt comprehend what matter was so important that he couldnt
tell her then, and now as well.
S-Something personal! Taeyeon didnt want to lie. He just hope that Miyoung could understand that
he couldnt tell her the truth.
What is it so personal that you cant tell me? Miyoung stood up abruptly. She knew she might be a
little overreacted but she was desperate to know the truth. Taeyeon seemed to be a man with much
secrets and somehow she hated to not know more about him.

I Taeyeon stood up as well, I cant tell you Im sorry Miyoung but-

Then why are you here? Miyoung raised her voice, You cant be here in the first place. Please leave
if you have nothing more to say.
Miyoung Taeyeon pleaded.
I I am just a servant here in the palace Miyoung looked down, I cant help you if you get caught
here Please go back to your life She now stared straightly at Taeyeon, And pretend that we have
never met.
With that, the brunette turned around and walked away. Taeyeon stood there, his mind was full of what
Miyoung had said to him. Frowning, Taeyeon looked at the back of Miyoung.
Miyoung! Taeyeon called as he ran towards the leaving girl.
In the middle of the secluded lakeside, Taeyeon caught Miyoung by her waist. He held her tightly and
pulled the girl into his embrace, back hugging the surprised girl. Taeyeon securely wrapped his arms
around Miyoungs slender waist, tugging his head onto her shoulder.
Please, Miyoung-ah He whispered beside Miyoungs ear.
W-w-what are you doing? Miyoung tried to struggle from the guys hold as she already felt her
cheeks burning hot. Let me go!
No! Taeyeon said firmly, I wont let you go. I dont want to let you go Miyoung-ah.
Miyoung just stayed silent.
Miyoung Please understand that I have absolute reason that I cant tell you why I left that night.
Taeyeon began to explain, I I really cant tell you now but I promise I will one day.
Taeyeon waited for awhile but there was no respond from the girl.
I Taeyeon sighed, I came back only for you
Miyoung felt her heart pounded faster at the words, W-why?
Taeyeon leaned forward, stretching his head to the front and laid a light kiss on Miyoungs cheek.
Miyoung widened her eyes as she froze, couldnt move even a bit.
Do you know why now? Taeyeon asked, his face still were dangerously close with Miyoungs, I dont
know when it started but I think I have fallen for you, Hwang Miyoung.
As the words sunk in Miyoungs head, she felt that the whole world suddenly came to a stop. The lake
water stopped flowing; the night breeze stopped blowing; the insects stopped chirping. The only thing
moving was her crazily thumping heart.

Did Taengoo seriously just confessed?

Miyoung stayed still as she felt Taeyeons hands around her waist slowly loosened. She didnt know
what to say or even think.
Taeyeon turned Miyoung around as he tried to perceive Miyoungs emotions from her face nervously.
Miyoung slowly raised her head and looked into Taeyeons eyes that were staring back at hers gently.
Oppa I like you too.
Taeyeon smiled as all the nervousness inside him vanished. Miyoung smiled sheepishly back as they
locked their gazes.

Meanwhile
So Hyomin pounded his fists onto the table after he received the information from a soldier who had
just come back from Silla. This is how they did it
The general of Silla had been depressed and upset for the whole day since the Silla army had tasted their
first failure. He couldnt think of why Baekje could saw through his strategies. He had pondered over
how Baekje knew about his strategies the whole day.
But now the truth finally revealed. The soldier just bought information that his scroll of tactics against
Baekje had been stolen. And the thief was rumored to be the recently famous Pink Masked Rogue. And
that made Hyomin wondered.
Hmm could this Pink Masked Rogue guy has any relation with Baekje?

Found you!

The two who was locking their gaze turned their head towards the voice at the same time. Miyoung
had a shocked expression on while Taeyeon frowned, oblivious of what was going on.
Well here you are Yuri smirked as he walked towards Miyoung. He thought he couldnt find the girl
when he mistaken another maid for Miyoung. His smirk faded though, as he realized there was another
figure standing just beside Miyoung, and moreover it was a guy.

Miyoungs brows unconsciously crumpled together as she recognized the guy as the one who had creep
her out in the banquet. She moved back unconsciously, accidentally leaned on Taeyeons broad chest.
Who is him? Yuri looked suspiciously at Taeyeon, extremely unhappy especially seeing how close
Miyoung was with the guy.
Taeyeon shot him a glare before looking down at Miyoung. The latter shook her head and Taeyeon knew
that the guy was not anyone favorable for Miyoung.
The question is Taeyeon lifted his hand up and placed it nicely onto Miyoungs arm, wrapping his
arm around Miyoung, Who are YOU?
Yuri got more agitated by the sight before him. His hands balled into fists while emitting a few fake
laughs.
Seems like youre not from around here eh? Yuri grinned, The richest gold merchant in the whole
Silla; Kwon Yuris the name. Who are you, kid?
I am no one Taeyeon looked at Miyoung tenderly as the latter returned the stare, Im just
Miyoungs namja.
Miyoung blushed intensely at Taeyeons sweet word while the latter showed his cheeky grin. Yuri had
enough of all the lovey dovey he was seeing from the just-confessed lovers. He stomped forward and
grabbed Taeyeons collar; Miyoung being pushed aside in the process.
This brat! Yuri held his fist up, glared fiercely at Taeyeon who didnt show a hint of fear.
Miyoung gasped as she stood by the side, worrying for Taeyeon.
If you want to draw the guards attention here Taeyeon glared back at the taller guy, Then punch
me.
Why you- Yuri held his fist higher.
And if you get caught and I believe you will that means youre not the richest gold merchant in Silla
anymore Taeyeon smirked, Youll be a prisoner, Kwon Yodelayheehoo.
Yuri clenched his teeth but he couldnt send his punch down because everything Taeyeon said was right.
He was trespassing the palaces forbidden area and he couldnt afford anything that would affect his
status.
Yuri let go of Taeyeon collar but something came into his mind at the same time.
Well well youd be in the same situation if I hand you to the authority! Yuri retorted, I believe you
are not anywhere near to being allowed to walk around here!

Yes I am. Taeyeon answered calmly, But how would you explain how did you catch me? That you
have caught me wandering around the palace while you yourself shouldnt do that as well?
Yuri widened his eyes as he was left speechless. He didnt think of that and now that he realized, he
couldnt possibly win over this argument with this little brat. He tightened his fists as he pushed Taeyeon
away.
Youre lucky tonight! Yuri hissed as he walked away slowly, Ill catch you someday Ill make her
mine!
Taeyeon scoffed as he watched the dim-witted aristocrat walked away. Suddenly, he felt something
warm wrapped around his arm. He turned only to smile as he saw Miyoung looking up at him while a
small smile.
Thanks oppa Miyoung muttered softly.
Taeyeon chuckled softly as he gently caressed Miyoungs rosy cheeks lovingly.

Chapter 14
Miyoung rubbed her eyes fuzzily; her mouth formed a huge o shape as she stretched her arms up. She
sat up on her bed while covering her yawning mouth. Looking around, Miyoung was surprised to find a
mattress laying beside her bed.
Hmm? Miyoung frowned but it was just a short while as the memories of last night suddenly flooded
back in her mind. Taengoo oppa!
Taeyeon insisted to stay even though Miyoung had told him numerous times that he shouldnt be in the
palace; though she didnt want Taeyeon to leave too. In the end, Miyoung gave in to the stubborn guy,
getting an unused mattress for the guy to sleep on.
Now where is oppa? Miyoung murmured, pouting cutely as she changed into her clothes before
heading out to search for the guy.

Meanwhile
*Slash*
Hyoyeon had his eyes widened as a sword stabbed through Heechul, one of his close comrade. The
horse he was riding panicked and it made him hard to control. The enemies kept on coming and
Hyoyeon could only see with his big eyes as his comrades fell down one by one under the fierce attack
of Sillas army.
Roaring furiously, Hyoyeon swung his sword and brought a few Sillas soldier down under the merciless
stomping of horses. He knew that it was hard for them to win this time; he only hoped that he could
save as many comrades as possible, avoiding bigger damage to Baekjes army.
In a blink of an eye, Hyoyeon fell backwards as he successfully shunned the sword swaying towards him.
As he looked to the owner of the sword, he clenched his teeth as he could recognize the guy as the
general of Silla.
Hyomin in a swift movement swung his sword again, each time aiming at Hyoyeons weak spot exposed
from his steel armor. Hyoyeon managed to avoid the first few but he couldnt even counterattack. And if
this continued Hyoyeon could only be dead under the lethal strikes of Hyomin.
Ughh! Hyoyeon yelped when Hyomins sword slashed through his arm.
Hyomin didnt waste any time, drawing her sword back and struck again.
*Clank*

Both generals stunned for awhile when another sword blocked Hyomins strike just in time before it
pierced into Hyoyeons shoulder. Hyoyeon drew his sword and bash towards Hyomin as soon as he
realized the one who helped him was his loyal comrade Tao.
Hyomin was a clever man; he knew he couldnt fight over the two of them as he fled away, retreating
while shielded by his men.
Hyoyeon as well, knew that they need to retreat or else Baekje would lose the whole army. And so the
Baekje retreated, gaining nothing but damage for their army in this confrontation.

Meanwhile
Your highness, theres a letter for you.
Sooyoung sat inside the tent, was pleased to know that the Silla army had win in this confrontation
when a soldier came in bowing.
Let me see Sooyoung took the letter from the soldier and opened it without any hesitation. Hyomin
and a few other ranked soldiers sat around the big table, looking at their prince feeling curious about
what the letter had to say.
After reading the only few lines written on the letter, Sooyoungs eyes went wide as he perceived what
the letter said. Hyomin got curious as he sat up straight on his chair.
What is it, your highness?
Sooyoung turned to look at the general before placing the letter onto the table, smiling slightly.
I have to go back to the palace. Sooyoung smirked when he saw the expression on Hyomins face after
the latter read the letter, Were winning.

Somewhere in the palace

Miyoung had her cheeks puffed, frowning as she scanned through the areas for a certain figure. Taeyeon
wasnt seen anywhere near her room as the brunette wondered where the guy could go. Could he have
left her without leaving any message? It wouldnt be possible, or Miyoung hoped so.
Wait Miyoungs eyes glittered as she thought of another possible place Taeyeon could be at,
Seolma

She picked up the hem of her hanbok as she hurried towards another direction, hopefully towards her
lover.

She smiled widely seeing a familiar back sitting by the lakeside; the lakeside where Taeyeon and her
confessed their love to each other; the lakeside where Taeyeon protected her from that guy whom
Miyoung would never want to see again.
Taengoo oppa? She called out for him softly, stepping closer to the motionless guy.
Oppa? She called again having no respond from him; Taeyeon seemed to be in deep thinking that he
couldnt hear Miyoung.
Miyoung furrowed her eye brows, wondering what Taeyeon could possibly thinking that he was so into
it. She tapped his shoulder lightly, bending forward to make herself obvious in front of Taeyeons eyes.
Oppa!
Taeyeon snapped out of his trance and finally looked at Miyoung with his shocked expression. Miyoung
sat down beside him before tilting her head, asking what was he thinking.
Oh. Taeyeon blinked as he muttered, Nothing. I was just enjoying the view.
Underneath his smile, Taeyeon couldnt be genuinely happy when his head was in chaos of all the
problem he was facing. He was pondering about the future before Miyoung came; his countrys future,
his fathers future, and his future with Miyoung.
For the first time in his life, Taeyeon had doubted that he liked who he was. He wasnt sure that he
would want to be titled as a prince anymore if it means separating with the one he loves. But it wasnt
about the title; not the status, the wealth or the power; it was his responsibility as a countrys prince
and as his fathers son. He couldnt disobey his father and betray his country.
Miyoung seemed to notice his unusual demeanor. Gwenchanayo?
Taeyeon shifted his gaze to Miyoungs eyes as he smiled faintly and nodded. Yes.
Miyoung nodded but she wasnt convinced. She knew something was bothering Taeyeon but she didnt
want to press further on it. Instead, she looked at the serene lake water, imitating Taeyeon.
Miyoung-ah Taeyeon spoke after awhile of silence. His hand placed gently onto Miyoungs as he
looked at her with sincerity in his eyes.
Ne? Miyoung looked back just as gently, waiting for the guy to talk.
Taeyeon smiled faintly, If anything ever happens, please believe that no matter what, my love for you
is the most genuine emotion Ive ever had in my life.

Miyoung blushed slightly as she nodded. She couldnt help but wondered why Taeyeon said that, but
she shrugged it off anyway.
Taeyeon smiled after being assured by Miyoung.
Please trust me My love for you is genuine no matter who I am He said again as he gently placed
his hand onto Miyoungs cheek, caressing it tenderly.
Miyoung looked at Taeyeon with her eye smile and nodded. I love you too, oppa
That drew a satisfying smile on Taeyeons face. Slowly, he leaned in closer. Miyoung knew what was
coming as she closed her eyes slowly. Taeyeon took it as a green light, gently planting a short yet sweet
peck on her lips.
Reopening her eyes, Miyoung stared into Taeyeons eyes which were also staring back at hers. Her lips
were crooking upwards into a pleasant smile; so did Taeyeons.
They enjoyed the silence and their close proximity, having no others but just both of them in their head.

THERE HE IS!!
Taeyeon and Miyoung jumped from the sudden outburst as they stood up, turning around only to find a
group of uniformed officers along with a decent looking guy pointing out at them. Miyoung widened her
eyes as she thought they were here to catch Taeyeon as he had broke into the forbidden area of the
palace.
GRAB HIM!
Two of the officers launched forward and locked Taeyeon on his arms. Taeyeon wanted to struggle but
there were too many armed guards at the same time and he couldnt possibly break through, especially
when Miyoung was there.
What are you doing?!! Let go of me!! Taeyeon figured that he might as well act as an innocent citizen
intruding into the palace to meet his lover.
P-prince! Miyoung on the other hand realized that the decent looking guy was none other than the
prince of Silla, Choi Sooyoung.
She knelt down before the prince and bowed deeply. Prince! Please let go of Taengoo oppa!!!
Sooyoung merely looked at her before turning his gaze back to Taeyeon. He scrutinized Taeyeons face
while the latter struggled in the hold of two guards.
You think youd fool me? Sooyoung exclaimed loudly as every single person there had turned their
attention to him, Kim-Tae-Yeon!

Taeyeon froze. His legs suddenly lost all of its strength as he fell kneeling on the ground. He could only
look at the towering figure in front of him as he feared what was going to happen next.
Miyoung looked back and fro at the prince and Taeyeon, couldnt understand what all this means. When
she looked towards Taeyeon, she found the latter looking back at her with his eyes filled with shock.
What is happening? Miyoung mouthed, her voice came out merely as a low whisper.
The Pink Masked Rogue! Sooyoung walked towards the kneeling guy, Isnt this great? We caught the
Pink Masked Rogue! He exclaimed, looking around at the guards.
And then he squatted down before Taeyeon. Smirking, Sooyoung looked into Taeyeons eyes.
But what is better? Sooyoung continued, When this hero of Silla recently is actually KIM TAEYEON,
THE PRINCE AND HEIR OF BAEKJE?!
Taeyeon clenched his teeth, shooting deadly glares at the other prince. He couldnt make himself to look
at Miyoung. He had lied to the girl he loves and now the mask he had been wearing was teared off.
Miyoung stayed motionless. The words Sooyoung just said echoing inside her head, repeating again and
again like an never-ending mantra. Her eyes flickered around but she couldnt focus on anything. Her
mind was a mess and her body was stiff kneeling down on the grass ground.
Take him to the dungeon! Sooyoung declared, We shall make use of him before executing him!
The guards abided as they dragged Taeyeon away. The prince of Baekje didnt even struggle as he was
too weak for that. As they went passed the guards, Taeyeon caught a familiar figure standing between
them. His eyes immediately fumed with fire as he recognized the man in emerald robe. The latter
smirked wryly at Taeyeon.
No one messes with Kwon Yuri, prince. He whispered just loud enough for Taeyeon to hear.

Sooyoung returned to his chamber after reporting to his father. Everything went great as his father was
very proud of him having to gain a huge advantage in this long-lasted war. But what enlightened him the
most was because he was now in the palace, which means that he could finally see his lover.
He entered his room, pushing the door so ever lightly as he was informed that Sooyeon was on her duty
to clean. He knew Sooyeon should be in his room.
The room was lit up as Sooyoung opened the door. He scanned through every corner of the room and
furrowed his brows when he couldnt find a certain brunette inside; there was not a single human being
inside his room.

Wondering the whereabouts of his lover, Sooyoung stood by the door and pouted. Just when he wanted
to turn around, someone bumped into him. The prince held whoever it was in his arms in reflex. And
when the person looked up at him, it brought the brightest smile onto his face.
Sooyeon
P-prince Sooyoung Sooyeon stuttered while Sooyoung smiled, pulling her closer and nuzzled his
head into her neck.
Sooyeon flinched at the warmth but soon relaxed and hugged the prince back. Sooyoung smiled, slowly
walking into his room, pulling Sooyeon with him.
I was looking for you Sooyoung smiled as he let Sooyeon sat down on the chair, caressing her cheeks.
I have great news!
Sooyeon smiled but Sooyoung found something different with the smile. Sooyeon seemed distracted
somehow. He arched his brows worriedly as he squatted to Sooyeons eye level. His hand tucked a
strand of hair behind Sooyeons ear.
Is something bothering you? He inquired softly, You can tell me anything
Sooyeon looked at the prince hesitatingly, but the warm smile on his face reassured her. She knew the
prince loved her and she loved him. She knew he would be happy to know what she wanted to tell him.
P-prince
What did I tell you about calling my name? Sooyoung interrupted her, pinching her nose playfully.
Sooyeon wrinkled her nose and smiled before continued, this time with a proper appellation.
Sooyoung I She took a deep breath and looked into Sooyoungs concerning eyes, I am pregnant
with your child.

Chapter 15
I am pregnant with your child.
Sooyeon was becoming more and more nervous, staring into the eyes of her lover. The prince stayed
unmoved since she had spoken the news out. She had only found out about her pregnancy today as well,
having feeling ill and nauseous the whole day. When the doctor informed about the baby in her womb,
she was shocked, not knowing how to react to this sudden arrival of a baby. She was debating over
herself if she should tell Sooyoung about this. But when Sooyoung inquired her with his gentlest tone,
she knew she couldnt and shouldnt hide the truth from him.
S-Sooyeon Sooyoung finally spoke with the softest tone ever, Y-you are pregnant? He just
couldnt believe what he just heard.
Sooyeon nodded slightly, looking into his eyes, anxiously waited for his reaction.
M-my child? Sooyoung shifted his gaze slowly down, stopped right at Sooyeons still-flat tummy. His
hand made its way there, touching her tummy tenderly.
Yes Sooyeon whispered with a small smile, looking at Sooyoungs bewildered expression. The latter
looked back into her eyes before turning his gaze back to her tummy. His lips gradually broke into a wide
smile as he suddenly engulfed his lover into a tight hug, lifting her up in the progress.
OH MY GOD! The young prince burst out in a loud voice, spinning around with Sooyeon in his strong
arms. Sooyeon giggled heartily while Sooyoung laughed gleefully, being utmost happy with the news.
After awhile, Sooyoung finally put Sooyeon down with his arms still wrapped around her. His face almost
distorted with the huge smile on, staring at Sooyeon lovingly. The latter blushed at the intense stare the
prince was giving, but looked straight into his eyes as lovingly.
Youre the mother of my child Sooyoung whispered smilingly. Im the father of your child.
Sooyeon smiled, nodding to his words.
Im going to be a father! Sooyoung cheered loudly, taking Sooyeon into his embrace again.
Just then, the door of Sooyoungs room suddenly pushed opened. Both of the parents-to-be were
surprised by the sudden sound as they turned towards the door.
Both widened their eyes when they realized who was walking into the room. Sooyoung froze looking at
the figure.
F-father

That night
The clouds were thick that day, covering up every little shaft of light emitted from the moon. Everything
was dark, shadowed by the night with only the flames of torches lightened up some areas. Two guards
stood firmly in front of the entrance of the dungeon, showing not a single trace of tiredness.
The silence of the night was eventually being break by the loud thumping sound of the drum, used to
indicate the time for changing shifts. The two guards relaxed their postures, glad that their shifts were
over. Exchanging some words, the guards walked away from their posts before other guards come over
to replace them.
A pair of eyes was flickering in the darkness. Seeing the guards disappeared from her sight, the girl in
dark hanbok ran as noiselessly as she could and entered the dungeon before anyone else could notice.
The girl went straight down from the stairs, ignoring the calls of other prisoners as she headed to her
destination. She knew the guy would be there. He was locked up in the big room they said, where only
the cruelest and deadliest criminal would be put in. She bit her lips, knowing that the guy had nothing to
be resembled as those criminals; he wasnt even dangerous to begin with.
She could hear her heart thumped loudly as she tiptoed along the dark hallway. Under her feet was
uneven rock ground with straws carpeting scrappily; the smell was unpleasant with dust in the air.
In the end of the hallway, she could see the big room. The guy she was looking for sat lifelessly on the
dirty floor, his head hung down with his face shadowed completely. But she knew he was the one she
was looking for. She couldnt be wrong; she could recognize him even with his back view.
Her eyes involuntarily welled up with salty liquid as she closed up towards the prison. Tears fell from her
eyes as she placed her hands on the bars, looking at the motionless guy behind the bars.
Her light sobs must have alerted the guy as he raised his head. She slowly slid herself down, squatting to
meet her eyes with the guy.
Tae- She didnt know how to address the guy anymore since she knew the truth. Oppa
Taeyeons eyes widened as he found himself looking at Miyoung. He didnt expect to see the girl
anymore. He thought that the girl must hate him since his cover was blown.
M-Miyoung He uttered feebly.
Miyoungs tears flowed even quicker seeing her loved one being in this state. She bit her lips sobbing,
didnt know what to say; she could only look at her oppa.
Taeyeon smiled faintly.
Im happy that you came. His lips hurt every time he spoke. He wasnt given a drop of water since
he had been locked up. His lips were dry and pale.

Oppa Miyoung cried silently as she took something out from her sleeve. She prepared some water
just in case, and she glad she did it.
Taeyeon crawled towards Miyoung quickly when he saw the bottle of water. Miyoung brought the
bottle to his mouth since he was chained by both of his hands. The disheveled guy gulped down the
water gladly with Miyoungs help.
Miyoung gently wiped Taeyeons lips after the guy finished the whole bottle of water. Taeyeon looked at
the girl with a question looming in his head.
Why Taeyeon felt better now with the help of the water, Why are you here?
Miyoung looked into Taeyeons questioning eyes. Her hands went up to caress the guys face.
I trust you.
Taeyeon smiled faintly, knowing Miyoung didnt forget about what he said to her before he got caught.
Thank you, Miyoung-ah.
Miyoung nodded, closing her eyes as more tears ran down her cheeks.
Im now content with your love. Taeyeon spoke lowly, It doesnt matter anymore what will happen to
me
Miyoung shook her head vigorously but Taeyeon smiled reassuring at her.
You need to get out from here. Go and continue your life and dont forget me as a normal guy who
loved you with his entire heart.
No Miyoung cried, Im getting you out of here.
The only thing I feel bad is for my father and my country. Taeyeon ignored her, Say sorry for me to
them if you ever have the chance.
Miyoung kept shaking her head as she had enough of Taeyeons pessimistic words. She shakily took a set
of keys from her sleeve. Taeyeon widened his eyes when he saw that.
What are you doing, Miyoung? Taeyeon watched as Miyoung stood up and went for the lock, Dont!
Youll get into trouble Just leave me!
I cant Miyoung wiped her tears before trying out the keys that she stole from the guard house
earlier. I cant leave without you. I love you oppa.
I love you too Taeyeon sat helplessly on the floor, unable to stop Miyoung from what she was doing,
Thats why you need to leave! I cant afford to let anything happen to you!

Me neither! Thats why were getting out of here, together. Miyoung stopped awhile from his lockpicking and looked at Taeyeon, We can go to somewhere where nobody know us. We can start over,
oppa!
Miyoung Taeyeon cried, couldnt be convinced by the girl, Please
Oppa Miyoungs breath hitched when the lock unlocked with a click. Taeyeon was shocked as he
watched Miyoung opened the gate of the prison. The girl quickly went towards the guy and fumbling
over the keys to search for the right one to Taeyeons handcuff.
Miyoung Taeyeon knew he couldnt change Miyoungs mind. If Miyoung want this, hed go for it.
Both jumped a little when the handcuff unlocked. Taeyeon loosed himself from the handcuff and
immediately pulled the girl into a hug. The lovers were engulfed in each others embrace silently,
appreciating the warmth more than ever.
Oppa, we need to go now. Miyoung whispered when they pulled out from the hug.
Taeyeon intertwined their hands together tightly, knowing that they wouldnt let go of each other
anymore. They locked their gazes reassuringly before running out of the room.
Soon, they reached the entrance. Knowing that the guards must be on the watch, they stopped.
Taeyeon signaled the girl to be quiet as he went behind one of the guards. In a blink of an eye, Taeyeon
twisted the guards head and the guard fell down silently. Before the other one could react, Taeyeon
sent a hard punch right on his head, knocking out the guard immediately.
Holding Miyoungs hand, the two lovers ran across the ground of palace, heading towards the exit. Their
footsteps created noises on the earth ground but they couldnt care less. They needed to run as fast as
they could before anyone would notice Taeyeons disappearance and the bodies of the guards.
But apparently luck wasnt on their side. A patrol discovered their trace as they ran across the palaces
garden, began to chase over them while calling for other guards.
Miyoung began to pant as she struggled to catch up with Taeyeons speed. They were reaching the wall
that could lead them to the outside but the guards were closing in. Miyoung bit her lips while moving
her already sore legs, hoping that at least her adrenaline would help her to climb across the wall.
Taeyeon looked back when he felt Miyoungs hand got heavier as he dragged. He saw the exhausted
Miyoung and behind them were the guards, holding torches and weapons. They chased after the
running lovers noisily, only to attract more guards to their direction.
The couple turned the corner as they finally reached the edge of the wall. Unable to sustain anymore,
her legs gave in as Miyoung fell onto the ground. Taeyeon was shocked but he immediately helped the
girl up.

Miyoung stood up with Taeyeons help but whimpered as she put weight on her left foot. She furrowed
her brows in pain while she had already thinking of the worst. Taeyeon looked concerningly at her.
Oppa Jinjja saranghae She grabbed the princes face and planted a quick kiss on his lips.
Taeyeon froze as he didnt know what Miyoung was thinking. He dragged the girl towards the wall but
Miyoung wouldnt budge.
Miyoung! They are coming!
I cant oppa. Tears began to run down from her eyes, It hurts.
Only then that Taeyeon noticed that Miyoung had strained her ankle somehow when she fell down. He
said nothing but just squatted down. Miyoung stood there didnt know what to do.
Come on! Ill carry you and climb over.
You cant the guards are coming. Miyoung shook her head. Youd be caught if youre carrying me
with you.
I wont. We wont get caught. Taeyeon tilted his head to look at Miyoung, Trust me.
I trust you but oppa The one and only thought that roamed in Miyoung mind was Taeyeons safety.
She knew that even if they climbed out of the wall, more guards would be chasing after them and she
would only encumber Taeyeon. She needed Taeyeon to escape safely no matter what. Even if it means
that she would get caught.
No buts Taeyeon frowned as he could see the lights of the torches and the sound of footsteps got
gradually closed in. I wont leave without you.
Miyoung cried. She extended her hand into her hanbok and fished out a dagger she prepared. Taking off
the scabbard, Miyoung held the dagger by her neck.
Taeyeon was stunned by Miyoungs action. He looked at the crying girl with his big eyes, unable to
comprehend the situation.
What are you doing Miyoung?!
GO! Miyoung shouted with her eyes clamped shut. RUN AWAY AND NEVER COME BACK!
M-Miyoung-ah W-what are you doing? Taeyeon stuttered with his lips trembled in fear; his hand
stretched out towards Miyoung but the girl ignored him.
Ill slash this knife across my neck if youre still in my sight in the count of 5. Miyoung clenched her
teeth as she tried to sound as determine as possible.
Miyoung-

5-
There they are!! The chasers were just few miles away.
4! 3! The dagger was inches away from Miyoungs neck, with the girl dangerously shaking hand
holding it.
Taeyeon afraid that if he went towards Miyoung the latter would just cut herself. The corner of his eyes
managed to take a peek at the coming guards. His heart thumped so quickly and everything seemed to
be in slow motion. But he still couldnt make a quick decision with his all messed-up mind.
2!
Miyoungs loud voice snapped Taeyeon out of his dilemma. Taeyeons eyes bored onto Miyoungs
determined face; the tears flowed down from her face burnt him in his heart agonizingly. His vision went
blurred as he realized his own tears running down his face as well.
1!
Taeyeon didnt need another call from his lover as he looked at Miyoung for one last time before turning
around, sprinting towards the wall. He couldnt control his cry as he climbed the wall with ease, sliding
down from it and made a run away from the palace.
The dagger fell onto the ground as the guards launched on Miyoung, caught her firmly. But Miyoung
held a smile on her face, hoping with her whole heart that Taeyeon would be safe.

Chapter 16
Miyoung whimpered as the guards forced her to kneel down in front of the prince. Sooyoung was in a
dinner with his parents along with Sooyeon when he suddenly received the information that the
important prisoner had escaped and they had caught a woman who was believed to be the accomplice.
Please, your highness Miyoung pleaded only for the sake of Taeyeon, but not herself, Please just let
him go
Hes not any prisoner. Hes the heir of the enemy country! Sooyoung exclaimed firmly, I believe he
hasnt gone far Prepare a troop to after the fugitive!
Hes not who you think he is Miyoungs red swollen eyes began to tear again, Why cant this two
countries just make peace? Why we need to have all these wars and sufferings?
Sooyoung frowned, knowing Miyoung had some points. But he couldnt get softhearted; he needed to
fulfill his duty as the heir of their kingdom.
Please, your highness Miyoung cried, I love him
Sooyoung looked at the sobbing girl. His heart stopped for a second when the three words spilled out of
Miyoungs mouth. He couldnt help but think of his own lover. Kim Taeyeon was someones lover too.
And he was being the one that tear the two lovers apart when he was hoping his father wouldnt do the
same.
The Silla princes frown had grown deeper as he looked back and fro at Miyoung and the squad waiting
for his command.
Just when he wanted to say something, a servant hurriedly came into the room and went beside
Sooyoung. The prince was not happy that the servant interrupted the quite vital military meeting.
Your highness T-the the The servant stuttered, couldnt seem to complete his sentence easily.
What is the problem?! Sooyoung snapped, annoyed by the timid guy.
The King
What happened to my father?!
The King bestowed upon your your lover the wine. The servant stammered with his face all
crumpled together in fear.
Sooyoung suddenly couldnt felt his legs, slamming his hands onto the table to support his whole body
weight. He knew what the servant meant by the wine. He just hoped that the servant was talking
nonsense; and if it was, he would kill him.

Without another word needed to say, Sooyoung ran out from the room and towards his fathers
chamber where the King had wanted a private conversation with Sooyeon.
Please please tell me its a lie

A sentinel was looking out for the Baekje tent. The nights silence was disturbed as clip-clop sounds
could be heard and its gradually nearing. The guard was alerted, immediately signaled the others to be
prepared.
When the silhouette eventually approached the campsite, the guards finally could recognize that the
man on horse was actually their prince. Hurriedly, they went forward to welcome the price, but were
flabbergasted when they saw the disheveled look of their prince.
Hyoyeon was awake and hurriedly went to see the prince when he was told the arrival of the prince. He
lifted the curtains of the entrance aside and went inside Prince Kims tent, realizing the important
figures were there already.
Prince Hyoyeons word got into a halt when he realized the unusual atmosphere in the room.
Taeyeon was now in a more proper attire and sat on his seat, hands supporting his hanging low head.
Taking in a deep breath, the prince finally raised his head and scanned through the people in the tent.
Prepare the army Taeyeon slowly muttered out the order in a solemn voice, We shall attack as the
dawn comes.
Prince are you sure? An advisor knew that wasnt a bright idea. They had just lost a battle few days
ago; the soldiers were tired and spiritless; they still havent come up with a good strategy as well.
Wangjanim What happened? Hyoyeon boldly asked as he stepped closer to the disheveled prince.
Taeyeon glanced at Hyoyeon and the latter was surprised with how much sorrow and fear he could see
in the princes eyes. Something must have happened during his stay in the Silla but Hyoyeon knew he
wouldnt find out what was it if the prince doesnt want to share.
Taeyeon covered his face with his hands, sighing into it. His heart was trembling. He couldnt think
straight. All that was in his mind was Miyoung, Miyoung and Miyoung. He couldnt stop worrying about
Miyoung. She must have been caught by the chasers back there. Was she okay? What would the Sillas
authorities do to her?
He couldnt bear himself to think of the consequences Miyoung would face for helping him to escape.
He was such a loser. He could do nothing to save her; he let her sacrifice herself for him. He was such a
helpless loser.

The thoughts kept coming in and it drove Taeyeon crazy. He couldnt stand it anymore.
I have to go back. He uttered.
Wangjanim? The generals and advisors were confused.
Prepare the army! Taeyeon spoke, this time with much power in his voice, Were going to attack Silla!
And this is an order!
The princes order was straightforward enough. The generals and advisors looked at each other,
knowing that they had no chance to convince the prince. Silently, they obeyed and began to prepare for
the war.

The King was in deep thought when he heard the door opened. Somehow, his heart flinched knowing his
son was here. Keeping a straight face, he turned to look at his son.
Youre here my s-
Wheres she? The Kings sentence was cut short with Sooyoungs exclaim filled with worries.
The King looked back at Sooyoung; the latter was looking back intensely, demanding an answer from his
father. But the older Choi kept his mouth closed.
Where is she? Sooyoung repeated, never breaking his stare at his father.
Sooyou-
WHERE IS SHE?! Sooyoung rushed forward and grabbed his fathers collar for the first time in his life.
The King looked at Sooyoungs fuming eyes. He said nothing but he looked sideways with his son
following his gaze.
Sooyoungs breath hitched as he noticed a bed located at the corner of the room. His grip on the Kings
collar loosened as he slowly forced himself towards the bed.
Shes not lying on the bed He tried to convince himself. His feet felt like weighing thousands pounds,
dragging his body towards the bed shakily.
She is not
Sooyoung gulped, approaching the bed.
Shes not

The prince of Silla stopped breathing when a pair of feet appeared in his sight. His face frozen, forgetting
to blink as the body of the figure lying on the bed gradually came into his sight.
When he made it to the bed, he didnt know how to react. His hands hanging lifelessly beside his
stiffened body. His mouth parted slightly with his eyes fixed to the face of the lying figure.
He shook his head feebly.
Sooyeon.
So ever slowly, he kneeled down by the bed; his hands went for Sooyeons hand. It was her, lying on the
bed, eyes closed with pale lips.
Shes just sleeping
Sooyoung tried to smile, convincing himself with his inner thoughts. But as his hands touched Sooyeons,
his expression froze in place.
Her hand was ice cold.

Youre the heir of this country. Im doing whats the best for you.
Sooyoung didnt even budge a bit from what the King had said. His eyes fixed onto Sooyeons pale face;
his hands gently holding her hands.
The child is a disgrace. The child is not pure.
Sooyoung rubbed his thumbs on Sooyeons hands. Slowly, he leaned forward and whispered gently to
her ears. You must be feeling so cold Its okay, Im here to warm you up.
He moved one of his hands to caress the lifeless girls face lovingly. Sooyoung smiled faintly.
Ill take you somewhere youll love it.
Gingerly, he stood up as he carried Sooyeons body securely in his arms. Turning around, Sooyoung
walked passed his father as if he wasnt even there. The King looked at the back of his son speechlessly,
starting to wonder if he had done the right thing.

Sooyoung gently put Sooyeon down; let her sat leaning on the bark of a tree before sitting down beside
her. He carefully wrapped his arm around the motionless brunette, guiding her head to rest on his
shoulder.
In front of them was dark ocean stretching endlessly until it met with the night sky. Sooyoung had
brought his lover to the place where they first met.

You do remember this cliff right? Sooyoung spoke so ever softly while tilting his head to look at the
pale face of Sooyeon, I still remember the first time I saw you You glared at me but strangely I fell for
you at the same moment
Sooyoung chuckled softly, caressing Sooyeons cold arms.
From that day onward, I knew my life would only be complete with you I knew that that I cant live
without you He paused for awhile looking in front unfocusedly, seemingly in a deep thought.
Cold night breeze made some strands of Sooyeons hair fly. The prince lovingly tucked the loosened
strands behind her ears, wrapping himself tighter towards the girl hoping to warm her up.
I was so happy when I got to know your feelings for me I swear I cried that night from the happiness
He leaned his head on Sooyeons, Thats the real beginning of my life, I think Youve made me the
happiest person in the world do you know that, Sooyeon-ah?
Sooyoung smiled to the silence of the night that answered him.
I guess Im late but better late than never right? The prince held Sooyeons cold hand and planted a
light kiss, Be my wife, Sooyeon-ah?
Sooyoung smiled faintly, patiently waiting for an answer.
That answer never came.
He felt a drop of wetness fell on his face. Looking up, Sooyoung let out a soft laugh before turning back
to Sooyeon. Ahh its starting to rain
Few drops of liquid fell onto Sooyeons shoulder. Sooyoung looked at the water stain, realizing his vision
blurred.
Turning his head around, Sooyoung quickly wiped his tears away.
Ahh my bad Its not raining after all He smiled to the unresponsive girl, But we should go back
now anyway
Wangjanim.
Sooyoung proceeded to place his hands under Sooyeon to lift her up, ignoring the intruding voice.
Shes dead.
The word sunk in with Sooyoung frozen with what he was doing.
Please Wangjanim shes dead and you cant d-
NO! Sooyoung put Sooyeon down before charging towards the intruder. He grabbed his collar and
pushed the guy until they both fell onto the ground.

YOURE LYING!
Hyomin looked up to the prince who already had his face crumpled, tears overflowing. The guy on top
cried desperately shaking Hyomin by his collar. He couldnt even utter a word with how he was crying.
Hyomin pitied the prince. He sighed before helping the prince and himself sat up. Sooyoung immediately
crawled towards his lover crying uncontrollably.
I Im sorry Sooyeon-ah Im sorry
Sooyoung stopped holding in his tears. He poured all his grief and pain out through his overflowing tears.
Leaning his body on Sooyeons cold one, Sooyoung cried his heart out.
Hyomin slowly walked towards the wailing prince. He felt bad for the prince but what had to be done
should be done. He was here to inform the prince that Baekje was attacking and they needed him. He
needed to get Sooyoung back on his feet, somehow.
Kneeling down beside the prince, Hyomin placed his hand on Sooyoungs shoulder.
Wangjanim Im sorry for what happened His highness is wrong to do this but you need get back
up. He sighed when the prince disregarded his words, The country needs you, Wangjanim.
Sooyoung only continued to weep.
Hyomin ran out of his patience. Grabbing Sooyoungs shoulder, the general pulled Sooyoung up to face
him. He sent an unexpected punch to the prince, making the latter fell onto the ground. Hyomin went to
him and grab him up again.
LISTEN! YOU HAVE TO PICK YOURSELF UP! Hyomin yelled at his face, BY TOMORROW, THERE MIGHT
BE HUNDREDS OF PEOPLE CRYING OVER THE DEATH OF THEIR LOVED ONES LIKE YOU! YOU HAVE TO
END THIS! FOR YOUR PEOPLE! FOR THIS LADY YOU LOVE!
Sooyoung slowly raised his head to look at Hyomin.
Hyomin sighed and spoke again using a softer tone. Im sorry. You can do nothing to bring her back and
Im sorry for that. You have to lead our army and win the war. Only with that, you can save thousands of
lives. You can prevent thousands of people in pain losing their loved ones like you do.
Hyomin looked into Sooyoungs eyes, hoping that the latter could understand what he was trying to say.
Please this lady would want you to be a great prince too. Shed want to see you saving lives out
there
Sooyoung sobbed, looking at Sooyeon before turning his gaze to Hyomin.
Im sure shed be proud of you, looking at what youll do for your people up there.

Sooyoung seemed to become calmer as he nodded slightly. Hyomin showed a small smile in relief,
patting the prince in his shoulder.
Shed be so proud of you.

Making sure Sooyeons body was placed at a safe place and being taken care nicely, Sooyoung followed
Hyomin back to the camp. Everyone cheered for the arrival of the prince but Sooyoung just walked
through the crowd expressionlessly.
As soon as Sooyoung entered his tent, a figure on the ground jolted up.
Prince! Please dont do this! Miyoung was kept held here for the whole day, giving only some water.
She was exhausted and unkempt but she only worried about the coming war.
Sooyoung ignored her as he proceeded to his seat. The generals and advisors began to discuss about the
strategies for encountering Baekjes attack.
Miyoung looked desperately at them. She knew Silla had huge advantages in this war; they had more
soldiers; they had more advanced weapons; they had General Park Hyomin and his brilliant strategies.
She didnt really care of who would win the war, she just wanted to make sure Taeyeon would be safe.

Someone came in hastily as Miyoung observed. The soldier went to General Park and whispered
something in his ear. Miyoung watched in fear as the messenger bowed and went out, leaving Hyomin
with a straight face.
Theyre coming Hyomin announced much to Miyoungs despair.
Sooyoung just nodded expressionlessly, standing up along with others to prepare for the war. The prince
walked passed Miyoung but was halted by Miyoungs desperate grab on his leg. Sooyoung stopped and
turned his head to look at the miserable girl coldly.
Please Hes everything to me stop this war please Miyoung sobbed.
A hint of hurt and pain flickered through Sooyoungs eyes when he heard Miyoungs plead. Some
unfamiliar feelings were building up inside him and he didnt like it. It made him feel mad. He clenched
his teeth and balled up his fists tightly.
I love him Miyoung cried harder.

Sooyoung felt as if his whole body was on fire. He shut his eyes forcefully as sinister thoughts began to
roam inside his head. The more pleadings he heard from the capture, the more anger was build inside
him.
I love her too; Shes my everything too. And what did I get? He turned to look at Miyoung; the latter
stopped her weeps, looking back with her big red swollen eyes. Sooyoung became more furious as his
mind invited itself into a deeper hole of pessimistic assumptions.
If it wasnt for you helping him to escape, I wouldnt have gone out; If it wasnt for you, I wouldnt have
left Sooyeon with the King! Sooyoung yelled suddenly at the shocked Miyoung. YOU WANT TO SEE
YOUR LOVER THAT MUCH HUH? ILL LET YOU SEE HIM!
With that, Sooyoung grabbed Miyoung up and pulled her out from the tent. He ordered the soldiers to
tie Miyoung up. With his eyes flaming, Sooyoung jumped on his horse and headed towards the
battlefield with Miyoung being forced on the ride behind.

Final
The weather was hot.
Miyoung squinted her eyes as the sunlight shone mercilessly on her, and the humid and still air didnt
help to cool her down. Sweats dripping down from her face; she wanted to wipe them off but she
couldnt. Her hands were chained; even her mouth was gagged with cloth.
The bumpy ride didnt give her any comfort as well. The wooden carriage was pulled through the
uneven ground. Miyoung couldnt see whats ahead, but she knew where they were heading to. Her
eyes were welling with tears, desperately hoping that it was all just a bad dream, a nightmare that felt
too real.
Abruptly, the carriage came to a halt, and it sent Miyoung forth with her shoulder hit onto the bars of
the carriage. It hurt so much that Miyoung felt as if ironically that the impact was to remind her that it
was not a dream.
She bit her lips and watched in fear as a soldier came up to her. Her whimpers came out helplessly as
the bulky guy dragged her easily by her arms, pulling her to get off the carriage. Miyoung didnt have
any power to protest as the soldier pushed her to kneel down beside a tall figure.
Miyoung looked up at the towering figure. The sun was shining so bright behind him, as all Miyoung
could see was the silhouette. But even from the outline, Miyoung knew who the guy was.
Mmpphh Miyoung tried to speak only to be muffled by the cloth in her mouth. She wriggled
difficultly towards the silhouette and nudged the guys leg trying to get his attention. And attention was
what she got.
Were here! The voice came out so different from what Miyoung remembered as their loving prince.
You wanted to see your lover and there he is.
Miyoung widened her eyes as she snapped her head towards the direction Prince Sooyoung pointed at.
Across the vast field, yards away from them were lines of soldiers without end. And among them, the
one riding on a white horse was all that Miyoung could only see.
Tae
Miyoungs thought was cut short as someone grasped her chained limbs and pulled her up harshly. She
was forced to stand beside the prince who now was holding on her hands. Her wrists hurt so much.
The prince holding her let out a big mocking laughter. He didnt seem like himself anymore. He died the
moment Sooyeon was dead.
Kim Taeyeon, prince of Baekje Sooyoung laughed louder, Surrender and I might reprieve this lover
of yours!

Miyoung felt her tears flow the moment those words came out from Sooyoungs mouth. She struggled
with last of her strength but Sooyoungs grip on her was too strong for her. Her wrists hurt more. Unable
to escape from the princes grip, Miyoung looked towards Taeyeon hopelessly.

Miyoung-ah
Taeyeon clenched his fists as he watched how Sooyoung treated Miyoung from afar. The anger building
inside was getting more and more unbearable for Taeyeon.
Wangjanim
Taeyeon turned to find Hyoyeon looking at him grimly. The prince sighed before looking back at the
faraway Miyoung under the hold of Sillas Prince.
Wait for my sign. Taeyeon simply said as he ushered his ride to trot forward. Hyoyeon just watched
understandingly and gestured the anxious Baekjes army to stay put.

Sooyoung smirked when he saw the approaching Taeyeon. He was falling into their trap!
Miyoung cried, shaking her head vigorously trying to tell Taeyeon to stop and turn around. She knew the
prince didnt have something pleasant under his sleeves. He was setting a trap and Taeyeon was walking
right into it. But with the cloth gagged in her mouth and the chain on her wrists, she could do nothing
much.
Everything seemed to hold still for one moment with the tense atmosphere suffocating everyone there.
ATTACK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Taeyeon shouted at the top of his lung when he felt he was close enough in front of the Sillas army.
With his sudden outburst, the Silla army wasnt able to react when the prepared Baekje army launched
instantly at the call. Thousands and thousands of soldiers charged towards Silla army.
But of course the well-trained Silla army wasnt weak to be begun with. They regained their posture
almost immediately as they too, roared fervently and charged towards the front as well.
Amidst the chaos, Princess Sooyoung stood still while staring intensely into Prince Taeyeon who stared
back with the same intensity. His hand was still holding tight on Miyoungs hand, while another drew
out his sword.
Taeyeon drew out his weapon as well, eyes nervously going back and forth between Sooyoung and
Miyoung, hoping earnestly that he could be in time to save Miyoung if Sooyoung would ever try to hurt
her.

The detained woman stared dreadfully at her lover. The chaos all around her was ignored; she could
only see the solemn eyes of Taeyeon, looking at the prince holding her. The cloth in her mouth was
hurting her jaw, but she paid no attention to it.
Miyoungs gaze on Taeyeon lost its focus when she noticed another figure coming in behind Taeyeon.
Her eyes widened as she could registered the coming guy. It was the cold and strict general of Silla!
What terrified her was the general was charging towards her lover, holding up his large sword with his
hand. The guy raised his sword, aiming at Taeyeon.
Miyoung struggled. She struggled furiously under Sooyoungs restrain; she tried to scream and yell but
her gagged mouth didnt allow her to do so. She couldnt warn Taeyeon.
Taeyeon concentrated on his enemy before him. He noticed the struggling of Miyoung and it hurt him in
his heart. He wanted so much to just launch forward and save Miyoung from his enemy.
Among the chaotic noises around, of all the slashing, clatters and cries, Taeyeon heard something. He
sensed something was wrong.
He found out the answer immediately.
Cold metal stabbed through his chest. Taeyeons eyes widened as all of the chaotic noises all muted
from his ear. He could see the blade, covered in red, extended out from his upper body.
It was as if the whole thing happened in mere second, Taeyeon barely felt the pain. Slowly, he managed
to lift up his head, only to set his last gaze onto the woman he loved.
The sight of Miyoung crying and struggling wasnt pleasant for Taeyeon, but at least, the last thing he
saw was someone he loved the most. He felt contented.
Hyomin drew the cold metal out from his enemys now unresponsive body. The blood of Kim Taeyeon
stained his proud sword but he couldnt care less. Soon enough, his sword was covered with more and
more bloods of his enemies, slicing mercilessly through all who came at him.
The war was soon ended. Baekje couldnt have won in anyways after the army witnessed the death of
their leader in front of their naked eyes.
Sooyoung was at lost as well. His hand had already released the now fainted Miyoung. Looking at the
sight in front of him, Sooyoung couldnt believe hed do anything like this months ago. But now his soul
was dead, gone the second his lover died. And he just sighed at the scene in front of him, before
dragging his ride to go back to his country victoriously, but lifelessly.

It was early in the morning. But the room was fairly dark. She wanted it to be dark, so that no one would
notice her doings here.
She kneeled on the floor, with her back facing the door.
Not far from her stiff body was the table. She had left two letters, weighing down by a round pebble,
placed neatly on the center of the table.
She had her eyes closed; hands on her knee as she lowered her head and took a deep breath. If one took
extra notice, he would have discerned the swollen eyes, the vague lines of dried years and a red wound
on her lips.
Miyoung slowly opened her eyes and let her gaze fell onto the shining metal in front of her. A dagger
was placed in front of her; the same dagger that she used to threat the guy to leave her.
It had been two, or six days after the guy died. Miyoung couldnt be sure. Seconds felt like hours, and
hours felt like years to her.
She had been more distressed than any damsel in distress you couldve known.
Her fingers grazed through the cold body of the dagger before stopping at the handle of it. She took it
gingerly, wrapping her small palm around the dagger.
The faint light from outside the room reflected from the blade. Miyoung looked at her reflection on the
blade. Her eyes were dead but gleamed with determination at this very moment.
Slowly but surely, Miyoung brought the short knife closer to her exposed neck. She began to close her
eyes as she tilted her neck for more excess of the knife.
She could felt the coldness nearing her neck, as the blade drew closer and closer to her.
Im coming, Tae
Right on cue, a loud crack broke the silence of the room and a figure burst through the door. Miyoung
felt her hands being wacked away forcefully and herself being tackled onto the cold marble floor.
Miyoung! A familiar voice was heard.
And Miyoungs face was already full with tears.
Oh Miyoung The owner of the voice softly held Miyoungs feebly body into her warm torso, stroking
the latters hair gently. Guards, call the doctors now!
Miyoung continued to cry, unresponsive to anything that was happening right now.
And that broke the queens heart. She pulled Miyoungs body closer to her, while a shed of tear flew
down her aged but perfect face.

Please dont ever do this kind of silly things again, Miyoung She whispered while stroking Miyoungs
head, I have lost enough.

A Month Later
Everything seemed to back to normal after one month from the war between Baekje and Silla; or at
least to the people.
Baekje lost their heir and beloved prince. People mourned for their lost but as time went by, people
were back to their old routine. The King though, had a hard time coping with the death of his only son.
He had almost launched an attack seeking revenge for his son but fortunately Hyoyeon and the rest of
the consultants managed to convince the king that they would not benefit from the attack in any ways.
As for Silla, people outside of the palace were proud for their win in the war and their lives went better
if not as usual. But inside the palace, everyone, including the maids and servants, knew that something
had changed.
Today was a big day inside the palace. The queen had decided to hold a banquet in attempt to change
the dull and tense atmosphere inside the palace. Aristocrats and well-off businessmen were present, as
well as the King himself and Choi Sooyoung, the heir.
For the kingdom! The queen led the people to cheer for the prosperity of their country. Her highness
then sat back down onto her seat. Looking at her right was the King; his white hair shone under the
bright sunlight. While on the other side was the prince, Choi Sooyoung. The queen sighed as the prince
was still the same, being completely quiet and expressionless for the past month.
Now, let us enjoy the performance from my favorite, the top singer in our country, Hwang Miyoung.
All the men and even women turned their head towards the entrance. And all held their breath and the
curtain was held up and a figure walked out so ever gracefully.
Clad in a pink silky dress, Miyoung walked slowly but elegantly towards the stage with her head hung
low. As she moved her perfect body towards the stage, all the men were fascinated by her and the
queen smiled proudly at her.
Miyoung bowed slightly to the royal family. Lifting her head up, she took a look at the whole audience.
And without any other words, Miyoung started her performance.

Please just walk by without acknowledging me

Please don't even glance this way

On breezy days like this

Don't offer anything to me

I've closed my heart

I've hid my tears
Just like a stranger you've seen for the first time
Just pass on by, you have to.

If we had never met, you might still be the prince that you always were right, Tae? Miyoung felt a line
of wetness rolling down her cheek.

I alone spoke of love

And gave love away
In the memories I alone cherished, my tears fill up
Even though you're far away, I wish you happiness
I bury my love deep within my heart

I wished we could have more I miss you Tae All the sweet memories with Taeyeon flashed through
Miyoungs head, as she closed her eyes tightly and sang.

If we're born again in another world

Let's face each other then with love
Those times where we're hopeless in front of fate,
Let's be born again so that doesn't happen again twice

I will be a flower in front of you

And I will sing a song for you

As one person's girl
As one man's love
I want to live forever next to you

I want to live forever next to you, Taeyeon Please just be there and Ill come to you

I alone spoke of love

And gave love away
In the memories I alone cherished, my tears fill up
Even though you're far away, I wish you happiness
My love deep within my heart

Even though it hurts, even though it will hurt

I will never cry
There is no separation of this love inside of my heart
Even if this life ends, in the next world we
Surely will love, we surely will love

With the last note sung, Miyoung knelt down in front of all those people. Under the watch of them,
Miyoung took out a bottle from her sleeves. The Queen widened her eyes in shock as she figured out
what Miyoung was going to do.
Miyoung opened the bottle.
Guards!! The Queen desperately called for the guards, STOP HER!
Miyoung tilted her head up, and gulped down whatever was in the bottle in one shot.
MIYOUNG!! The queen cried, watching as her favorite singer that she already regarded as her own
daughter drank what she assumed to be poison.

Miyoung looked up and met her gaze with the Queen, the only reason she lived until now. She smiled
faintly at her, before finding her vision blurred.
Im sorry my Queen Sorry mother but I need to go to him
With that, total darkness and unconsciousness found her before the guards did.

The sky was dark, drizzling with coldness. The queen knelt down and placed a bouquet of white flowers
in front of the grave.
I hope you found your happiness up there Miyoung-ah Her highness whispered, looking at the grave
with sadness.
Turning around, the Queen nodded towards another old lady beside her. The old lady bowed
respectfully towards the queen before going to her daughters grave. Lady Hwang knelt down in front of
Miyoungs grave.
My silly child She smiled bitterly, You didnt tell me anything about you I feel like a failed mother
I didnt know you suffered this much Im sorry, Miyoung-ah
She kissed her fingers and put them onto the grave.
I love you always, my daughter

The queen who was watching this couldnt help but shed a tear. Miyoung was like her daughter too. And
now she lost her daughter; she lost her son too.
The day Miyoung drank the poison, Sooyoung was found missing. When everyone was panicking for the
sudden death of their national top singer, Sooyoung left silently without anyone noticing. The royal
family later tried to search for their prince, but all in no avail.
Nobody knew where Sooyoung was since then. The queen knew the prince must have taken the
responsibility of what happened to Miyoung.
What left for the queen was only the song; the song Miyoung composed for the love of her life.
