RECAP: SS Chris Taylor drove in the Rainiers only run in the bottom of the 5th inning as Tacoma fell to El Paso 1-14 on Monday night. DH
Stefen Romero (2x4) led the team with 2 hits, while Taylor (1x4, RBI), LF Justin Ruggiano (1x4, 2B), CF Leon Landry (1x3, R, BB) and 2B
Zach Shank (1x3, 2B, BB) each collected 1 of the Rainiers 6 hits. Starter Sam Gaviglio (3.1,6,7,4,2,1,HR) recorded his 6th loss of the season,
allowing 7 runs (4 ER) on 6 hits over 3.1 innings. LH Logan Bawcom (1.2,5,7,6,1,1,2HR) allowed 7 runs (6 ER) over the 4th and 5th innings,
while LH David Rollins (2.0,2,0,0,0,1), RH Tony Zych (1.0,1,0,0,0,2) and LH Edgar Olmos (1.0,1,0,0,1,1) combined to hold the Chihuahuas
scoreless over the final 4.0 innings.
REHAB ASSIGNMENT: RHP Hisashi Iwakuma made his first rehab assignment with Tacoma on June 25 vs. Reno. He allowed 3 hits, while
walking 1 and striking out 4 in 4.0 scoreless innings. He previously made a rehab start with the Everett AquaSox on June 20 vs. Eugene,
allowing 1 run on 3 hits, while walking 0 and striking out 1 in 3.2 innings. Iwakuma was placed on the 15-day disabled list (retroactive to April
21) with a right lat strain on April 24. He underwent a magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) exam on April 25 and the results were read by a
radiologist and by Seattle Mariners medical director Dr. E. Edward Khalfayan and confirmed a diagnosis of a Grade 1 strain of the right
latissimus dorsi. Iwakuma, 34, is 0-1, 6.61 in 3 starts with Seattle this season (16.1 IP, 12 ER). He last pitched April 20 vs. Houston, leaving the
game in the sixth inning with a 5-3 lead. His final line was 5.1 IP, 5 H, 4 R, 4 ER, 0 BB, 3 SO and 2 home runs allowed. For the season, he has
allowed 5 homers in 16.1 innings pitched. Opposing hitters boast a .308 batting average against, after Iwakuma limited hitters to a combined
mark of .235 in his first three seasons (2012-2014). Iwakuma finished the 2014 season 15-9, with a 3.52 earned run average. He made 28
starts despite missing all of April on the disabled list with a torn tendon in his right index finger.
OF NOTE:

This season the Rainiers have recorded 10 or more hits in 35 games, including 10 in the last 15 gamesthe Rainiers are batting .276

Since May 27, INF/OF Shawn OMalley has hit safely in 27 of his last last 31 games, batting .371 (46x124) with 22 runs scored, 4
doubles, 4 triples, 3 home run, 22 RBI, 7 walks and 7 stolen base.
o During this stretch since May 27, he leads the PCL in average, while ranking T1st in hits, 2nd in triples, T6th in runs scored and RBI.
o During this 31 game stretch, OMalley has raised his season average from .223 to .301.

RECAP: Starter Anthony Fernandez and relievers James Gillheeney, Brian Moran and Trey Cochran-Gill combined on a 5-hit shutout as
Jackson defeated Birmingham 4-0 on Monday afternoon. It marked the Generals 5th shutout this season and first since May 18 at Tennessee.
After completing his rehab assignment with the AZL Mariners, Fernandez allowed only 1 hit, while walking 1 and striking out 7 in 4.0 innings.
Gillheeney (4.0,3,0,0,0,4) earned his 4th win of the season, allowing 3 hits and striking out 4 in 4.0 scoreless innings. Moran (0.2,1,0,0,1,1)

Seattle Mariners minor league SS Ketel Marte and RHP Edwin Diaz have been selected to represent the World team in the 17th annual
SiriusXM All-Star Futures Game to be played on Sunday, July 12th at Great American Ball Park in Cincinnati, as part of All-Star weekend.
Marte, 21, fractured his left thumb on May 31 vs. Round Rock and was placed on the Tacoma disabled list on June 1. He is currently rehabbing
at the Peoria Sports Complex, but is expected to be ready and able to play in the Futures Game. Marte hit safely in 42 of 51 games with 19
multi-hit contest, batting .343 (68x198) with 30 runs scored, 10 doubles, 1 triple, 2 home runs, 24 RBI, 18 walks and 17 stolen bases with AAA
Tacoma. At the time of his injury (through game on May 31), Marte led the PCL in average (.343/68x198), games (51) and hits (68), while
ranking 2nd in stolen bases (17) and at-bats (198) and 3rd in lowest TPA/SO ratio (11.05). Marte was signed as a non-drafted free agent on
Aug. 13, 2010. Over 5 seasons in the Mariners organization, he is batting .292 (487x1670) with 271 runs scored, 66 doubles, 19 triples, 162
RBI, 104 walks and 97 stolen bases in 427 games.
Diaz, 21, is currently pitching for AA Jackson in the Southern League. In 15 starts between A Bakersfield and AA Jackson, Diaz is 4-5 with a
3.73 ERA (33 ER, 79.2 IP), including going 2-5 with a 5.48 ERA (26 ER, 42.2 IP) in 8 starts with the Generals. Overall he has limited opponents
to a .225 (65x289) average, while walking 27 and striking out 80 in 79.2 innings. Diaz was the Mariners 3rd round selection in the 2012 MLB
First-Year Player Draft ouf of Caguas Military Acedemy in Puerto Rico. Over his first 4 professional seasons, Diaz is 17-16 with a 3.11 ERA (98
ER, 284.0 IP) in 61 games/53 starts.
The Mariners have had 35 selections (including Marte and Diaz) to the Futures Game since its first began in 1999. Six players on the current
25-man roster (+DL) played in the Futures Game in the past: Robinson Cano (2003-04), Nelson Cruz (2005), Felix Hernandez (2004),
Logan Morrison (2010), James Paxton (2011) and Taijuan Walker (2012-13). Brad Miller was selected to the 2013 U.S. Team, but was

2015 U.S. PAN AMERICAN MEN'S BASEBALL ROSTER


Seattle Mariners minor league INF/OF Patrick Kivlehan (AAA Tacoma Rainiers) was named to the 2015 U.S. Pan American Mens Baseball
Team roster. The team will compete in the Pan American Games in Toronto, Ontario (baseball competition to be held in Ajax), July 10 to 19.
The U.S. roster features 24 players not currently on Major League Baseball 40-man rosters. The Pan Am Team will first gather in Cary, N.C., at
the USA Baseball National Training Complex where it will train from July 4 to 8. The U.S. will then depart for Toronto for the Pan American
Games where it will look to win its first Pan Am gold since 1967. First round action kicks off on July 11, against Puerto Rico at the Presidents
Choice Ajax Pan Am Ballpark. The 2013 World Baseball Classic Team was the latest professional team fielded by USA Baseball. In the most
recent Pan American Games, the 2011 club earned the silver medal with a 3-2 record, falling to Canada in the gold-medal game.
