Partnership News
Supervisor of Elections Office Partners
with Tax Collectors Office
for Improved Efficiencies
The Hernando County Tax Collector and the Hernando County Supervisor of Elections are pleased to
announce a successful joint training program. Supervisor of Elections Shirley Anderson and her staff
conducted the joint training with the Tax Collector customer service representatives who process voter
registration applications.
A partnership between the Elections Office and the Tax Collectors office began in 1993 with the
passage of the National Voter Registration Act, commonly referred to as the Motor Voter Act.
Purchasing a new home is a very exciting and challenging time. Often, updating your address with
the Supervisor of Elections office is overlooked until Election Day. The Elections office will provide
a Voter Registration Application, Voters Guide and an informational postcard to the Hernando
County Association of Realtors. This information will then be distributed to their clients who are
purchasing a new home.

High School
Senior Clearance
Supervisor of Elections Shirley Anderson is pleased to announce 272 new voter registrations from the
five area high schools.
Senior Clearance is an annual event in which graduating seniors go through numerous check out
stations, including a voter registration booth. Voters can pre-register at age 16, however they are
ineligible to vote until their 18th birthday.
Voter outreach is an important aspect of the Elections Office. It is important to work with our school
system to register new voters. By physically being in the schools, we are able to reach students who
might not have pre-registered. Congratulations to all Hernando County Seniors! I look forward to
seeing you at the polls!
