INTRODUCTION

Traffic Management functionality will decide how to allocate a call to different Band Class frequency when
multiple band classes are enabled on the Base Station and operating in Dual Band mode.

FUNCTIONALITY

2.1 Traffic Management Feature Operating Method

Traffic Management feature runs only when system is running under Dual band mode. In case of basic
operating mode it behaves same for both 1X/DO and the feature is disabled.
The system determines which Band Class the device is currently camped on (device synchronized to). It will
first try to allocate the call in the same Band Class which the call was originated. If all of the resources are
busy or unavailable for the current Band Class, the call (traffic channel) will be allocated in the other Band
Class instead.
For the frequency selection within each Band Class, load balancing algorithm between FA will be followed.
The feature can be controlled by BSM command to allow call setup on a Band Class different from the current
Band Class.

RTRV-BTS_EVEO_DRH-PARA, for reading

3.5.1 CHG-BTS_CONTROL-PARA
The CHG-BTS_CONTROL-PARA screen configures the setting of Traffic Management for 1X. Figure 1
shows a screen capture of the configuration GUI and Table 1 lists relevant parameter.
