Power button: Press this button for 1 second to turn on/off the mainframe.
4 LED lights:
Power led: When K3 Mainframe is on, the power led (red) is lighted. When there is
insufficient power, it blinks. Under the circumstance, please replace the power supply as
soon as possible.

Satellite led: After K3 mainframe is turned on, satellite receiving board begins to work,
and satellite led is not on. When satellite receiving board lock satellite, the led is
on(green).

Beacon led: After K3 mainframe is turned on, beacon begins to work. When beacon board
receives beacon signal, the led is on(blue).
Differential led: when satellite led and beacon led are on simultaneously, the main board
proceed to resolve. When the differential solution is resolved, the led is on(green).

3.3.2 Back Port Introduction

Shown above: there are three ports in the back of K3 marine beacon machine, separately is
data transmission port(COM), power supply port, satellite or differential two-in-one
antenna port.
Data transmission port: it is mainly used for data transfer after

K3 marine beacon

receives the data, and is formed with a big five pin LEMO socket.
Power supply port: it is mainly used to supply power for K3, and is formed with a five pin
Remo (LEMO) socket. Supply voltage :8-36V, 12V DC recommended.

Satellite / Differential two-in-one antenna port: mainly used to transfer the received
satellite signal and differential signal to the mainboard, is formed with a screw port.

3.3.3 Mainframe Profile Introduction

K3 marine beacon shell is made of aluminum alloy, it can effectively prevent the
mainframe from salination and oxidation in damp environment. Front and back panel is
protected by the industrial-grade silicone, the host can effectively sealed to prevent from
corrosion of internal components.

For the convenience of fixed, K3 marine beacon leaves four self-tapping screw holes on
the shell surrounding, easy to fix on the any position of the wood on board (horizontal
boards or vertical boards).

3.3.4 Introduction of K3 Marine Beacon Accessories

A) Data Transfer Cable (GC-2):
Used for connectting mainframe and PC. Note:
1. You are not recommended to use USB transfer cable if there isn't any COM port on the
PC (because the serial port transferred is virtual port, not hardware port), otherwise it will
cause the connection between mainframe and PC not unstable. We recommend you using
PC Card transfer port.

11

2. Confirm the PC-COM port whether it is occupied by other connection procedures. Such
as: RTK handheld Microsoft Active Sync, total station connection procedures.

A) Data Transfer Cable (GC-2):

B) Power Supply Cable (KC-5):

Used for connectting mainframe and storage battery. Note:
1. The mainframe voltage can be wide-voltage 8-36V, but we recommend 12V DC
storage battery to you.
2. The red line of the cable is connected with the positive, and the black connected with
the negative. (Red positive, black negative)

KC-5

C) Satellite / beacon signal transmission cable (AG-X):

Use for connectting satellite / beacon antenna and mainframe. Note:
1. Optional cable length, you should select the required length according to the actual
installation of ship.
2. To prevent signal attenuation, you'd better not install the line parallel to other lines on
board.
3. Installing the cable lines, the part of the satellite / beacon signal must be waterproof, to
avoid the rusted screw causing the signal transmission unstable.

12

AG-X (X: cable X meters )

D) Satellite / Beacon antenna (AT-1500):
Used for receiving satellite / beacon signals. Note:
1. After the data transmission port of the satellite / beacon installed, waterproofing
maintenance must be done.
2. The install position of satellite / beacon antenna should be 2 meters higher than the
fence on the boat cover, and away from other high-frequency antennas, such as
high-frequency phone antenna, high frequency radar.
