Dear All,
The submission ref; National Consultation on Citizenship was submitted last week and is
available on https://www.scribd.com/doc/270054040/National-Consultation-on-Citizenship-PIAResponse which was submitted last week. This submission was the result of 67 responses that
we had and as far as we are told is the only submission from an ethnic community which is
predominantly Muslim.
Following the submission, we dedicate this issue to those who have given their lives in the line of
honor for their homeland on 2nd July in a train accident in Pakistan which was carrying personnel
from Pakistan Army. Lt Col. Amir Jadoon embraced Shahadat with his wife and two kids along
with other gems of the nation.
With less than two weeks to celebrate Eid ul Fitr, the Muslim celebration following one month of
fasting is almost around the corner. The matter for concern for us is that another anti-Muslim
Rally is supposedly being planned on Eid day by Reclaim Australia. I hope the government can
take serious step against people who are the cause of disharmony among Australians.

CONGRATULATIONS TO HON. MARGARET ADAMSON

Ms. Margaret Adamson has been appointed as the new High Commssioner of Australia in
Pakistan. Heartiest congratulations from Pakistanis in Australia.

A LECTURE BY A PAKISTANI YOUTH ACTIVIST AT UWA

The lecture explores the political direction that the Pakistani youth has taken and how they have
taken up political initiatives to ensure their voice is heard in the corridors of power.
Mr Adeel Hashmi is a youth activist and a documentary filmmaker. He has focused on the
Development and Social sectors and has been instrumental in designing campaigns for
internationally renowned educational and charity organizations in Pakistan. His work has helped
raised funds to the tunes of millions. He is also a goodwill ambassador for several noble initiatives
in Pakistan including The Childrens Literature Festival and The Environment Protection Fund. He
is the member of a 12-person marketing team of one of Pakistan Tehrek-e-Insaf Party. He
designed, produced and directed the partys election campaign on national television during May
2013 general elections. The ad campaign also won the national award for the Best Political
Campaign - 2013.

AMUNC 2015: A WEEK WITH MIXED FEELINGS FOR PAKISTANI COMMUNITY

If you have seen huge number of energetic youth buzzing around Perth CBD, Kings Park, Perth
Zoo, Cottesloe Beach, Fremantle Port and around the famous Cactuse in Forrest Chase, these
were the 600 youth from interstate and overseas attending the 21st Asia Pacific Model United
Conference which was held in Perth for the first time and set new standards for years to follow.
While there were number of Pakistani students representing Australian Universities, it was very
sad for us to know that none of the Pakistani students got visa to attend the conference. I hope
the Department of Immigartion and Border Protection will consider the request favourably in

future and just because a young one has no international travel history should not preclude
them from the grant of visa.
