fordigitalized industry

Have you claimed your free Siemens ticket for Hannover Messe yet? From April 13
to 17, the leading international trade fair is again addressing exciting trends and
topics, and Siemens, as usual, is setting standards with its booth. Under the slogan
On the way to Industrie 4.0 Driving the Digital Enterprise, the focus this year is
on the increasing digitalization of industry. As part of the digitalization process,
industrial power grids will be provided with digital and additional measurement
and automation systems as well as options for control and regulation. This
development presents industrial enterprises with new challenges as they look to
increase the energy efficiency of their plants, ensure security of supply, and secure
increasingly complex plants and systems against overloads and short circuits with
modern protection systems.
Our holistic solutions meet these challenges for sustainable and cost-effective
power supply with Totally Integrated Power, which we are presenting at Booth D35
in Hall 9. These solutions include an enhanced version of the communication-
capable 3VA molded case circuit breaker from the Sentron portfolio, which we are
also presenting in our cover story. Furthermore, we show you our systems for
power monitoring with powermanager software and measuring devices (see how
these prove themselves in industrial practice, starting on page 28).
But of course the new E-Installation is not just about solutions for industry. As
always, we inform you about our new products for electrical installation in residential and nonresidential buildings and for switching technology for medium-
voltage systems. And we again present some interesting examples, such as how
your colleagues have provided for comprehensive fire protection in a historic inn

here is no question about it:

molded case circuit breakers are
among the most important protective components in large residential
and commercial buildings as well as
inindustrial manufacturing facilities.
After all, they protect the electrical
equipment and installations in case of
faults such as short circuits and overloads. But their benefits now go far beyond that protection, thanks to new
technical capabilities. Of particular importance is their ability to detect and
transmit energy and power data, which
allows them to serve as an important
basis for efficient, reliable processes in
automated environments. To optimize
this efficiency, high transparency of all
consumption values and system states

is required. In order to deliver their full

value, circuit breakers must be able to
accurately detect measured values and
provide appropriate interfaces for their
transfer as do the molded case circuit
breakers of the 3VA2 series.

Data suppliers to
higher-levelsystems
Although communication-capable mol
ded case circuit breakers can also be
used as separate, independent information suppliers, using and processing
the data in higher-level building automation systems is much more effective.
Due to the ever-increasing demand
for energy in manufacturing processes,
integrating the energy data from the

power distribution system into the

companys higher-level systems is particularly important. That is why the
Totally Integrated Automation (TIA) automation strategy also includes protection devices such as circuit breakers
and measuring devices for energy data
acquisition from power distribution
and equipment. For efficient automation of commercial and large residential
buildings, Total Building Solutions (TBS)
integrate all building services in one
system, and molded case circuit breakers can provide the basic electrical consumption data here as well. Last but
not least, these devices are also an integral part of Siemens solutions for
s ecure electrical power distribution:

Totally Integrated Power (TIP) guaran-

Communication-capable 3VA2 molded case circuit breakers

Communication creates
transparency
In terms of the benefits of molded case circuit breakers, the ability to communicate is
the icing on the cake. The new devices in the 3VA2 series thus become an excellent
information system: used in higher-level energy management or automation systems,
the data collected create transparency and lay the foundation for systematic energy
monitoring.

Technical requirements
In order for molded case circuit breakers to be integrated into automation
environments, they must be able to
communicate using standard protocols.
The 3VA2 series meets this requirement
with special electronic trip units (ETUs).
The ETUs of the 8 series include a measurement function for current, voltage,
consumption, and power data. If only
current needs to be detected, ETUs of
the 5 series are the ideal solution.
Switch state levels and maintenance
information are collected using the

ETUs and forwarded via data concentrators to higher-level systems. The

data are transferred using the com

Ethernet (Modbus TCP) bus systems.
The molded case circuit breakers are
quick and easy to parameterize, commission, and maintain using the Powerconfig software.

Modern protection system for electrical installation in historic inn

Siemens AG/W.Geyer

Safe, comfortable environment

The Beim Fchsle inn in the Allgu region of Germany relies on tradition combined
withmodern technology. A modern electrical installation ensures smooth operation.
Thepowerful fire alarm system and central building control meet the highest standards
ofsafety, protection, and comfort.

he 200-year-old farmhouse that today serves

as the Beim Fchsle inn is located in the small
village of Kirch-Siebnach, in the middle of a
green Allgu countryside. Just outside the door is the
old Way of St. James. Pilgrims, hikers, cyclists, and
day-trippers can find everything they need to take a
break here.
Almost 10 years ago, Melanie Gebler and Ludwig
Seitz took over the then-vacant family property.
Since then, the two have been working tirelessly to
modernize this rare jewel with great care. In the summer of 2013, the building was extended to include a
generous new addition with seating for an additional
90 guests and a restaurant kitchen with modern

equipment. As the owners discussed the replacement of the dilapidated barn next to the historic
main house, they agreed: We wanted the highest
standards in all areas. And that also means perfect,
functional technology, which does not necessarily
have to be visible to the guest.
Both in the new building and in the historical part,
the project team paid special attention to the electrical installation. The existing cables and socket outlets were still in compliance with standards, but they
no longer corresponded to current capabilities relating to safety and comfort. An additional challenge
was the limited capacity of the incoming cable from
a regional energy supplier to the remote location.

Protection concepts | E-Installation 1/2015

Monitoring and comfort

All electrical energy flows are monitored with a
Sentron measuring device from the 7KM PAC series.
At load peaks, individual loads are automatically reported and switched off in an orderly manner as
soon as a defined limit value is reached. This makes
it possible to reliably operate the restaurant even at
full capacity utilization, and it also helps save power.
At the same time, the supply and infeed of unneeded
energy from the photovoltaic system, for example
are monitored.
Heating, lighting, and ventilation provide for a
pleasant environment in the dining rooms and guest
bedrooms. Everything is controlled using the flexible
and scalable Gamma instabus KNX bus system. The
attractive high-quality single switch with KNX func-

Light and ventilation in the rooms are easily controlled using

amodern KNX system with a central touchpanel control station

Siemens AG/W.Geyer

The overall solution developed by Siemens therefore

relies on transparency and controlled processes in
power consumption. Powerful protection components for the electrical installation, a measuring device for monitoring the electrical energy flows, a KNX
system for the central building control, and an automatic fire alarm system meet the highest standards
of safety, protection, and comfort.
Appropriately designed miniature circuit breakers
(MCBs) secure the many electrical loads through
outthe building complex, including highly energy-
intensive systems such as refrigerators and water decalcification units, against overloads and short circuits caused by operation as well as short circuits in
cables and wires. Residual current circuit breakers
(RCCBs) protect people from electric shock.
To ensure the complete safety of the electrical installation in the Beim Fchsle inn, 15 additional arc
fault detection units were installed. These devices
also respond to serial arc faults, which cannot be
detected by MCBs and RCCBs, by switching off the
affected circuits safely within a fraction of a second.
This eliminates possible causes of electrically induced fires.
Dining rooms, bedrooms, kitchens, and technology areas are also monitored and protected with 50
automatic fire detectors. In case of fire, the system
immediately triggers a warning tone and reports the
fire simultaneously to the Sinteso FC2020 fire control panel. People are warned early and can safely
leave the premises. An automatic display shows the
exact location where the fire has started.

Siemens AG/W.Geyer

Comprehensive solution
for safety and fireprotection

The signals from the 50 fire detectors distributed throughout

theinn come together in the FC2020 Sinteso fire control panel

tions blends in unobtrusively with the interior design.

Using a central touchpanel control field, all the lights
and ventilation systems can be switched on or off
from one location. Gebler sees this as very practical,
especially at the end of business hours, as it eliminates the need for unnecessary walking.

road. It connects to standard household socket outlets and is compa
tiblewith the most common types in
Europe, thanks to various plug variants.
In this way, the mobile charging unit in
charging mode 2, in accordance with
IEC 61851, can serve as an emergency
charging cable if an accessible charging
pillar is not available. The internatio
nally common camping plug (CEE blue

phase
charging with 16 A and a charg
ing
power of 3.7 kW. Because the CC100A
charging cable is available with vehicle-side charging couplings of type 1 or
type 2, it is suitable for almost all commercially available electric vehicles.
The control box can be operated in
tuitively using self-explanatory symbols. It allows quick adjustment of the
charging current to any home installation, and the fixed charge current upper

limit is transmitted to the connected

vehicle.
In addition to excellent user-friend
liness, the cable ensures maximum
safety for people, vehicles, and electrical infrastructure. An electronic RCCB
of type A is integrated into the box,
which satisfies the conditions for safe
charging of electric vehicles in accordance with IEC 61851. Multilevel temperature management prevents thermal overload. The control box indicates
via LED if the charging process has
been automatically interrupted due to
high temperatures. Thanks to its robust
design, the charging cable is durable
and weather resistant. The enclosure
and the charge coupling can be driven
over and are resistant to environmental influences such as dirt, moisture,
and temperature fluctuations. The control box even features the high degree
of protection IP67.

3VA molded case circuit breaker

Improved selectivity and

optimum motor protection
The 3VA molded case circuit breaker offers several innovations. With an optimized characteristic
curve (Elisa) with the overcurrent releases, circuit breakers can be selectively staggered as
required in combination with downstream fuses. New starter and motor protection variants
supplement and complete the 3VA portfolio.

lisa describes a special current-

time characteristic curve that is
stored in the molded case circuit
breakers of the 3VA2 series with an
ETU340 Elisa up to 630 A. It improves
selective staggering of upstream circuit
breakers in combination with downstream fuses. Due to the Elisa characteristic curve, the rated current distan
ces between circuit breaker and fuse
can be selected as required. This can result in smaller rated currents for the circuit breaker, allowing smaller, cost-
saving sizes to be selected. Due to the
steeper expression of the Elisa characteristic curve, the switch-off occurs earlier in case of overload with the same
protective behavior, compared to an
LSI characteristic curve, thus reducing
the electrical load of the equipment. In
addition, parameters can be set for
ETUs with Elisa characteristic curves
more easily than with standard LSI
characteristic curves: with ETUs with
Elisa characteristic curves, only the response current of the overload protection I[A] needs to be set.

200 A protects against short circuits. A

separate overload relay is required for
protection against overloads. The 3VA2
motor protection variant from 25 A to
500 A features full motor protection as
a complete assembly. The ETUs of this
series are equipped with characteristic
curves optimized for motors. Phase
sensitivity and thermal memory protect
the motor from overheating. Using an
adjustable inertia class, the overload
release can be set to suit the restart
conditions of the motor to be protected.
Optimal motor protection for drives is
consistently guaranteed up to 200 kW.
The ETU 860M also enables energy
dataacquisition and the transmission

of power and energy data of large drives up to 200 kW for load management, for example. Whether starter
protection or motor protection is required, one motor contactor is used for
operational switching. In either case,
the molded case circuit breaker also
serves as a disconnector to de-energize
the motor for maintenance purposes,
for example.

Dr.-Ing. Richard chsner (in the back) and system administrator Heinz Schmid are
thrilled by the performance of the software powermanager. Using the web interface,
additional authorized users can work with the system

What was needed was an open system that could be easily retrofitted and
flexibly expanded with many different
measuring devices. The quality of the
data supplied also needs to meet the demands of a long-term research project.
The team led by Richard chsner chose
the software powermanager version 3.0
from Siemens: Very flexible, very open,
and at the same time extremely powerful in accordance with our requirements. The software runs at Fraunhofer
IISB as an independent system on a

Modbus TCP in an Ethernet LAN network. It monitors and archives the data
of 50 measuring points in different
devices. The export function in Excel is
also valued bythe team. The data can be
processed and correlated simultaneously with the building control system.
Electrical energy data such as voltages,

PAC3100/3200 models and eight multi-
master compatible 7KM PAC4200 units
enable the data capture up to the system level. A Sicam Power Quality Recorder also documents voltage and network quality.

Energy flows are transparent

Some two years after the start of the
project, more than 90 percent of the
energy flows at Fraunhofer IISB can
now be precisely tracked using the
powermanager software. The entire
energy monitoring system is updated
every second in real time. By means of
this short interval, electrical energy
storage devices can be switched on and
off according to precise needs. This
way, real savings in the form of electrical and thermal energy can be achieved.

The data collected is used for documentation and as a basis for further research. The precise analysis of energy
flows reveals optimization potential in
everyday operation. This enabled starting points for energy improvements
throughout the building and in the existing building of Fraunhofer IISB to be
determined. For example, the first optimization opportunities were identified in the operational strategies for the
concrete core activation and for coupled heat pumps. The support for error
detection using the data obtained
makes the energy monitoring system
also interesting for other areas of the
institute.

n building automation, the demand for energy-efficient

solutions is growing, while energy standards are also becoming more stringent. KNX presence detectors help to
meet the most demanding requirements. The detectors control up to three independent output channels for various
functions in the room, such as lighting, sun protection, and
HVAC systems. Each output channel individually controls the
functions at the beginning and end of an action. The delay
times can be adjusted. For a consistent brightness level in
the work environment, the integrated brightness controls
allow for up to five groups of luminaires to be semiautomatically or fully automatically controlled.

DINEN61439 standards for switchgear and control system implementation

Siemens AG

New standards for

planning and design
Since November 1, 2014, the new DINEN61439 series of standards for switchgear and
control system implementation has come into force, definitively replacing the predecessor
standard DINEN60439-1. What does that mean for manufacturers and users?

he new standard harmonizes the

specifications and requirements for
low-voltage switchgear and controlgear assemblies. The requirements
and verifications for switchgear and controlgear assemblies are standardized,
and verifications in accordance with
other standards are now unnecessary.
DINEN61439-2 applies to energy
switchgear and controlgear assemblies
comprising at least one item of low-
voltage switchgear. The main functions
of the standard relate to the three areas
of safety, functionality, and availability
of power distribution boards in low-
voltage switchgear.

Design verification redefined

the original manufacturer and the

manufacturer of the switchgear and
controlgear assembly. The original
manufacturer must ensure that there is
a type verification for the switchgear
and controlgear assembly or for the
original system. The system can consist
of a variety of products, each with its
own type verification. In this way, the
manufacturer of the switchgear and
controlgear assembly can vary the configuration of the system.
For an original system without changes,
the original manufacturer of the switchgear and controlgear assembly needs
to provide only the routine verification.
In case of any modification of the original that affects the existing design
verification of the original manufactu
rer, the manufacturer of the switchgear
and controlgear assembly automatically becomes the original manufactu
rer for these changes. This means that
it now needs to provide the design verification and routine verification and
document everything completely.

With the newly introduced design verification, the TSK and PTTA verifications
from DINEN60439-1 have been replaced. According to the new regulation, the original manufacturer is responsible for the design verification.
Switchgear and controlgear assemblies
that have already been examined according to the old standard and whose Interface features
test results meet the requirements newlyregulated
ofDINEN61439-2 do not need a new

In terms of product responsibility, ifies what criteria must be defined beDINEN61439-2 differentiates between tween the manufacturer and user of the

switchgear and controlgear assembly

for interface features. According to
these criteria, the manufacturer of the
low-voltage switchgear and controlgear
assembly then ensures that the characteristic features of the system correspond to the defined criteria and produces, tests, and documents a switchgear and controlgear assembly that
conforms to the application and the
standards.
The switchgear and controlgear assembly is seen as a black box with four
interface areas for the environment: installation and ambient conditions, operation and maintenance, connection to
the electrical grid, and electrical circuits
and loads.
If everything is to be carried out in a
standards-compliant manner from planning to operation, maintenance, and
repairs, the reliable functioning of low-
voltage switchgear and controlgear assemblies must be ensured. Siemens
supports manufacturers and users of
low-voltage switchgear in the configuration, manufacture, and delivery of
complete control cabinets.
