Background
As your goodself is aware, the Handicraft, Handloom & Carpet products produced in
Jammu & Kashmir have not been explored and projected from the sustainable National
and International markets point of view. Various efforts are being made to diversify the
panorama of Indian Handmade Sector.
Due to the continuous efforts made by Export Promotion Council for Handicrafts
(EPCH), National Centre for Design & Product Development (NCDPD), Carpet Export
Promotion Council and Development Commissioner (Handicrafts), the quality, design
and supply chain management is continuously improving and the entrepreneurs of the
J&K State have grown to the stage of supplying good quality products.
Major product categories includes Kashmiri Shawls, Wood Carving, Chain Stitch /
Crewel Embroidery, Pherans, Namda, Carpets, Walnut Wood, Copper & Silverware,
Floor Coverings, Gabba, Paper Machie, Calico printing etc.
The basic objectives of Handicraft Mega Cluster Mission is to assist the stakeholders in
availing the facilities set up with modern infrastructure at Block levels, Latest
technology, Design innovations, Adequate training and Human Resource Development
(HRD) and Appropriate market linkages. The guiding principle underlying the design of
clusters would Create modern infrastructure and Integrate the production chain in a
manner that caters requirement of the handicraft artisans in the Clusters.
(a) A built up booth 03 or 06 sq. mt. without any Charges to facilitate exports the
clusters
(b) Limited freight subsidy;
(c) Boarding & lodging as well as T. A. as approved will be provided by the One
participant each company.
