Introduction
As per the given scenario here in this report we will discuss about the tasks, procedure, roles and
responsibilities of business continuity lead/manager in medium sized healthcare department. As a
lead/manager in healthcare department, I have to describe tasks, ongoing evaluations and other
high level activities that will be performed by me as lead/manager. While describing about these
responsibilities and tasks, it is necessary to explain that how a business continuity lead/manager
can provide benefits to its organization and how this post can be beneficial for the organization
and high level management in case of critical conditions of organization.
Basic Primary Tasks
The post of business continuity lead/manager is really a job of full responsibility. The primary
tasks of manager of a healthcare company are:

Planning, project management and risk management in an organization

Communicate and co-ordinate with the partners of the healthcare organization about the

risk factors and new ideas to improve the overall performance.

Capitalize on business environment for refining production

Evaluations of BC lead/manager
The ongoing evaluations of lead/manager are related to evaluation technique of manager to
identify each and every activity of company. Besides this, manger also needs to evaluate that
how each task must be performed and what can be the initial and important resources to
complete each task. Healthcare organizations provide various services and new health products
that are used in hospitals and at homes for better treatment. In this case manufacturing of such
products must also be better. I as a lead/ manager of medium sized health organization will
evaluate each activity properly from initial step which is used to manufacture products. The
update periodic report must also be provided to the high level management of the organization,

so that they can know about the actual performance of organization. (Cremonini & Samarati,
2007)

Policies and procedural changes

The business continuity manager of a healthcare organization must make some policies for
organization according to requirements of various tasks. Policy can be related to the
responsibility of every employee in the organization that he/she must be perform their tasks on
time and provide updates to manager. (Savage, 2002)
If there is any problem in operational activities, then it is responsibility of that employee who is
handling these activities to inform the manger of high level management. As a business
continuity manager, I also want to say that, manager must have authority to change any ongoing
procedure if that is not worthy for our organization.
Initial High level activities of BC lead/manager
It is the major responsibility of the BC manager to satisfy the high level management with its
various activities and tasks that can provide benefits to the organization. Initial high level
activities which must be performed by BC manager are discussed as below:
Management of finance
Finance and cost of resources which are used in organization to handle various projects must be
properly managed by the BC lead/manager. If as a lead manager you can perform each task
within budget and without any wastage of money then it can enhance the revenue of the
organization. This high level initial task is necessary to complete on time.
Management of Time

Accurate time management is also very necessary to perform each and every activity. BC
lead/manager must schedule each task first then start implementation. If he finds any issue in this
activity, then he must be informed to top level management. The major disadvantage of this
activity is that if it not properly managed then whole schedule can be disturbed and project
completion can take long time.
Management of Risk
In business processes various risk factors have to face by the BC manager of healthcare
organization. Identification and proper evaluation of each risk factor is also the major high
responsibility of manager. (Smith & Sherwood, 1995). Risk factor may include wastage of time
and cost factors, less availability of resources to fulfill various managerial tasks. Besides this,
risk factors also include risk of other business partners, if they deny providing funds at time.
Then it can cause various implementation problems in organization. If all risk factors must not be
properly identified then heavy loss can be bear by the organization. It is the major pitfall of this
responsibility.
Security
The next high level responsibility that must also be performed by the BC manager is the security
of available information in organization. All records and information of organization must be
properly managed and stored by all employees into database or other storage devices. It is the
responsibility of manager that to check that information is secure and must keep track of updates
in that information. the major pitfall of security is that due to lack of security of available
confidential information can cause problem of information loss and leakage. Our competitors can
take benefits from this and can put bad effect on goodwill of company.

These are the major high level activities that must be performed by the business community
manager to show the high level management that how his tasks and activities can provide better
results for organization.
Major Challenge
The major challenge according to above discussed initiative that must be performed by BC
Manager is the fulfillment of each activity on time. If business continuity manager is not able to
perform above tasks properly then it can be bad for his goodwill and work capability. Top level
management provides its judgment according to your working capabilities. To overcome this
problem, manager must be careful about its work and responsibilities.
