PLEASE READ THE SCHEDULE AND INSTRUCTIONS FOR THE FOLLOWING WEEKS.

WEEK
Week 0: April 28 (T)/Friday No
Class

Week 1: May 5 (T)/May 8 (F)

Week 2: May 12 (T)/May 15 (F)

Week 3: May 19 (T)/May 22 (F)

WHAT TO DO/ACCOMPLISH/SUBMIT
-FREE LAB for Tuesday classes! (Attendance not required)
-Please take note of the following deadlines for Post-Lab 9
submission:
Tuesday Morning Class April 28, until 11:30 am in class or in my
pigeon hole in admin office.
Tuesday Afternoon Class April 28, until 5:30 pm in class or in my
pigeon hole in admin office.
Friday Morning and Afternoon Classes May 5, until 5:30 pm in my
pigeon hole in admin office.
-REQUIRED ATTENDANCE!
-Deadline of DP Milestone 0 (in class): Materials at the first day of
DP session (especially transistors, speakers and resistors, etc).
- Deadline of DP Milestone 1 (in class): Design and simulations of
unloaded amplifier. Describe and justify the stages used. Show your
hand calculations. Show simulation circuit models and results. At
this point, the design should amplify a small signal voltage from the
microphone which you can model as an AC signal source. No need
to submit printed documentation as of this time. Just make sure
you understand your design and know how to play with it.
- Those who are unable to show good design for Milestone 1 may
submit outside the class with a certain deduction per day..
-REQUIRED ATTENDANCE!
- Deadline of DP Milestone 2 (in class): Design and simulations of
amplifier loaded with speaker. Describe and justify the stages used.
Show your hand calculations. Show simulation circuit models and
results. At this point, your design should be complete amplifier
that not only amplifies AC voltage well but also provides a provision
to transfer this AC voltage to the load (speaker). Your design should
also meet the specifications. Gain adjustment implementation
should also be clear, if not yet incorporated in the previous
milestone. If you modified the initial design from Milestone 1,
explain why and how you did it. No need to submit printed
documentation as of this time. Your goal is to get the instructors
approval so that you can start building the hardware on the same
laboratory meeting.
- Those who are unable to get an approval for their design may
submit outside the class with a certain deduction per day.
- Once you get an approval for your design, start working on it
immediately in the laboratory.
-REQUIRED ATTENDANCE!
- Deadline for DP Milestone 3 (in class): Finish hardware
implementation of your design and characterize it based on the
specifications. Do they meet the specs? If not, do you have to

Week 4: May 26 (T)/May 29 (F)

introduce minor tweaking in the component values? If you think it

is already working, characterize your circuit and gather data for
your final documentation.
- The goal is to demonstrate that your hardware is working and is
able to meet the required specifications (frequency response,
output voltage level, gain adjustment, etc.)
- Those who are unable to demonstrate a hardware that achieves
the required specifications may submit outside the class with a
certain deduction per day.
-ATTENDANCE NOT REQUIRED!
- Deadline of submission of final documentation. See the
description of the DP to know what details are necessary. Submit in
class or in my pigeon hole in admin office. Deadline of submission is
within class time (11:30 am for morning class and 5:30 pm for
afternoon class)
-Can be used for checking unfinished groups.
