ActiveSync or Mobile Mail or MfE


Pre-Requisites

NSN Network Account (aka NSN AD Account)


NSN Personal Mailbox
End Device having access to Internet
Request for Mobile Mail via IT Shop
Mobile Mail Intranet Page
Basic knowledge of operating the device running Google Android
Instructions in this guide refer to the default Mail Application only
Setup New Email Account (Slides 3-9)
Modify Email Account (Slides 10-11)
Delete Email Account (Slides 12-13)

Android device User Interface varies depending on the device manufacturer, and do not follow a unified approach of
setting up ActiveSync. Always refer to your device manual or end user guide for exact instructions.

Android Generic Instructions
Add New Email Account
-

All Apps-> Settings -> Add Account (account type Exchange or Corporate or ActiveSync)

Email ID = <NSN Email Address>


Password = <NSN Network Account Password>
Server Name = sync.nsn.com
Domain\username = nsn-intra\<NSN Network Account> or Domain = nsn-intra and Username = <NSN Network Account>
Use secure connection (SSL) Enabled or On
Accept all SSL Certificates Disabled or Off
Client certificate = None and/or Use Client certificate is Disabled or Off.

If all the information provided during account setup is correct and the device is able to communicate with the server, it should prompt to
choose what to sync, accept defaults or choose based on your work needs. You would also be prompted about device administration and
also to set a password if your device does not meet the device password lock policy. Only after setting the password, your device will start
to sync with server.

Setup Email Account Samsung (4.1.2)
Press Home key button, tap Apps,
swipe left or right to see other screens
tap Settings, or Press Home Key,
Press Option key, Settings (scroll down
to reach Accounts), tap Add Account,
tap Microsoft Exchange ActiveSync.
Provide the following details
Email:<NSN Email Address>
Password:<NSN Network Account Password>

Tap Next or Manual setup

Domain\username = nsn-intra\<NSN Network


Account>

Exchange server = sync.nsn.com

Use secure connection (SSL) = checked/enabled


Use client certificate = unchecked/disabled

Tap Next

Setup Email Account Samsung (4.1.2)

If all the information provided is correct and


device is able to contact the server, you will be
prompted about Activation & Remote security
administration dialogs, tap OK to accept.
Account options screen, lets to you configure
schedule, period of email, email size, period of
calendar, what contents to sync, choose what
suits you work needs or accept defaults.

Tap Next

Setup Email Account Samsung (4.1.2)

ActiveSync server enforces security policy on the


device with respect to device lock, accept the
Activate device administrator dialog by tapping
Activate.
Based on whether the device already meets the
policy enforced by the server, you would be
prompted to set a PIN or Password, choose PIN
or Password based on your needs and follow
on screen instructions.
If your device already meets the policy enforced
by the server, you would not be prompted to set
PIN or Password.
On the final screen, you are prompted to name
the account (optional) step, give a name of your
choice or accept the defaults.
Open the Email App to access the mailbox.

Setup Email Account Nexus (4.3)
Press Home button, tap All Apps,
from the Favorites tray, swipe left
or right to see other screens
tap Settings, (scroll down to reach Accounts),
tap Add Account, tap Corporate
Provide the following details

Email:<NSN Email Address>


Password:<NSN Network Account Password>

Tap Next

Domain\username = nsn-intra\<NSN
Network Account>

Exchange server = sync.nsn.com

Use secure connection (SSL) = Enabled


Accept all SSL certificates = Not Enabled
Use client certificate = none

Tap Next

Setup Email Account Nexus (4.3)

If all the information provided is correct &


the device is able to contact the server,
you will be prompted about Remote
security administration dialog, tap OK to
accept.
Account settings screen, lets to you to
customize inbox checking frequency, days
to sync, what contents to sync, choose what
suits you work needs or accept defaults.

Tap Next

Give a name to your account or accept the


default value.

Tap OK to accept the Security update,

Setup Email Account Nexus (4.3)

Email Account Settings Samsung (4.1.2)

Press Home key button, tap Apps, swipe left


or right to see other screens tap Settings, or
Press Home Key, Press Option key,
Settings (scroll down to reach Accounts), tap
Microsoft Exchange ActiveSync.
Tap Settings (Common settings), allows to set
General preferences or Account specific
options.
Account specific settings allow you to set
Signature, Sync schedule, how many days of
mail to Sync, Out of Office, what content to
sync (mail, contacts, calendar, task, SMS),
change exchange server name or password
associated with account.

Email Account Settings Nexus (4.3)

Press Home button, tap All Apps,


from the Favorites tray, swipe left
or right to see other screens
tap Settings, (scroll down to reach Accounts),
tap Corporate
Tap Account Settings to set
General or Account specific options.
Account specific settings allow you
to set Signature, Sync schedule,
how many days of mail to Sync, what

Delete Email Account Samsung (4.1.2)

Important When you delete an email account all


associated data (Email, Contacts, Calendar,
Tasks, Notes) with email account will be removed
from the Phone.
Please complete this step only if you have
completely understood the consequences of the
doing this action.

Press Home key button, tap Apps,


swipe left or right to see other screens
tap Settings, or Press Home Key,
Press Option key, Settings (scroll down
to reach Accounts), tap Microsoft
Exchange ActiveSync.
Tap Account with @nsn.com email address,
Tap Remove account & Tap Remove account
once again to delete the Email Account.

Delete Email Account Nexus (4.3)

Important When you delete an email account all associated data (Email,
Contacts, Calendar) with email account will be removed from the Phone.
Please complete this step only if you have completely understood the
consequences of the doing this action.

Press Home button, tap All Apps, from the Favorites tray, swipe
left or right to see other screens tap Settings, (scroll down to reach
Accounts), tap Corporate
Tap Account with @nsn.com email address, Tap Menu icon, Tap
Remove account & Tap Remove account once again to delete the
Email Account.

Contacts Samsung (4.1.2)

Searching Contacts in Corporate Directory

Press Home Key button, tap All Apps, swipe left or right to see other
screens tap Contacts App, tap search icon
Start Typing some part of first or last name, if found matching entries
they would be displayed. Tap the contact to show additional details.
It is also possible to search contacts in Corporate directory while
working with Email and Calendar Apps.

Contacts Nexus (4.3)

Start Typing some part of first or last name, if found matching entries
they would be displayed. Tap the contact to show additional details.
It is also possible to search contacts in Corporate directory while
