Purpose
This guide has sample data sheet about skill option that is
required to make raw water treatment, potable water treatment,
demineralized water treatment data sheet. it provide design base
about each skill option.
1.2
Supplementary Article
Major equipment and capacity should be entered on a base of
data accumulated in job. data about chemicals and basic
equipment is followed up by contact with vendor or gathering
data.
1.3
Making Method
Serial numbers is given about changeable articles by water
condition and job characteristic, design base and application
range is indicated in making guide.
General Description

Clarifier Unit
Raw water will be transferred from Sam-Bong lake and
Dae-Ho lake via 23 km pipeline and be received in the
raw water pond located in the east side of utility center,
which will have the capacity of 150,000 m3. raw water will
be pumped up from the raw water pond to the clarifier
unit to reduce the turbidity with injection of coagulants
and coagulant aids. Ph is adjusted by injecting NaOH
solution in order to reduce organic matter, chlorine shall
be also injected. The clarified water shall be feed to the
sand filter unit.

General description
2.9.1.1 Clarifier unit
1) Raw Water Source: It indicates namely river,
sea, pond etc.
2) Raw water pond capacity : Generally it is
designed on a basis of 2 day (48 hrs) capacity. If
fire fighting water is stored together, the fire
fighting water capacity should be added and
designed.
3) Coagulants: The natural water has suspended
matters charging negative, they exist safely,
but if positive charged coagulants is added, they
are neutralized electrically, particles collide each
other, and precipitation is created easily.
4) Coagulant aid: It is used to promote floc.
reaction and to reduce coagulant amount used at
the early start up, the rainy season, drought.
5) NaOH: Generally a coagulant injection
increased acidity, so NaOH should be added to
neutralize.
6) Chlorine: Chlorination is executed, because
organic material disturb clarification.

General Description
3.7.1.1 R/O Unit
It is composed of high pressure pump, module, a
measuring instrument. main activity is to remove
Nacl ,colloidal matter, organism, other organic
matter in water. 90% of nacl is removed, life of ion
exchanger resin is increased 10 times and
regeneration of ion exchanger resin is reduced.
so time and cost is reduced and discharging
equipment disposal cost is reduced one-tenth.
3.7.1.2 Demineralizer Unit (2 B 3 T)
This unit is used when many hco3- ion exist in
water. this unit consume lower anion exchanger
resin and NaOH than 2 bed 3 tower, because co2
is removed in de gasifier.
3.7.1.3 Regeneration and Neutralization Unit
It is the process that activates ion exchange resin
by injecting regeneration agent. Sulfuric acid and
caustic soda is diluted to fixed concentration
(2~5%) by ejector or pump, they are injected at
ion exchanger resin tower tail.

3.7.2.2 Demineralizer Unit
(1)
Counter-current
Regeneration method: -It consume lower
regeneration agent than co-current and
amount of waste water regenerated is
low.
(2)
De gasifier Set Up
- When HCO3- is high concentration in
water
(i) m-alkalinity + co 20 ppm as caco3
100 ppm as caco3 (by flour)
(ii) HCO3- concentration
30% of
total anion (flour)
De gasifier should be set up.
- The amount used of anion exchange
resin is low and so,Naoh consumption is
reduced.
- 9095 % of CO2 is deleted.
- In boiler water over 60 kg/cm2g boiler,
vacuum decarbonator is used.
- De gasfier can be used commonly in
multi-train.

General Description
Clarified and filtered water from the raw water treatment facilities
(filtered water) is stored in the filtered water tank. Pump is
installed for transferring feed water to the potable water unit.
NaOCl solution is injected by metering pumps for chlorination
and the concentration is controlled to maintain more than 0.2
ppm as free residual chlorine. Before chlorination, activated
carbon filter is to be installed to remove mainly color and BOD.
