FMCs Ball Valves: High-pressure p

Valve design shown illustrates two methods for butt-weld flanged ends:
1. One piece weld neck flange.
2. Swivel flange with butt-weld nipple and half rings.

Bonnet and stem easily

remove through top for inline stem seal replacement.

Handle easily repositions to

move in any quadrant.

Handle immediately reads as

open or closed. Design accepts
factory or field-installed actuators.

Fitting allows easy routine grease

packing of ball cavity for longer life
and low turning torque.

Fire test certifications (API 6FA and

BS6755) confirm negligible leakage
even when resilient seals are totally
destroyed.
New patented design equalizes
pressure across the seats without
expensive L-seals to prevent seal
blowout when valve is opened.

All fasteners are plastic coated for

corrosion resistance and easy
maintenance in offshore and
hostile environments.
Capscrew thread
corrosion is virtually
eliminated by the use of
EPDM sponge gaskets to
fill the gap between flange
and body.

Valve is fully repairable on-site. Design requires

minimum line spread for removal and permits
quick, economical disassembly.

End connections weld

directly into the flowline
for maximum
compactness.

Extra large ball-to-seat contact area promotes

positive sealing and distributes loads for
reduced wear and longer service.
Stainless-steel valve stem absolutely
prevents stem blowout.
Metal-to-metal primary face seal at
body connections is both leak proof
and fire safe.

Internal shoulder at one end of body retains ball

and seats under full rated pressure to allow flange
removal for servicing downstream flowline
equipment.

performance in a compact package

FMC
s Ball Valves give you highpressure performance backed by more than
20 years of oil and gas service in literally
hundreds of drilling, production, injection,
and well servicing applications. Available
in 1/2-inch to 10-inch sizes, these compact
quarter-turn valves provide positive shutoff
at working pressures to 15,000 psi. You
get the reliability of a gate valve with
advantages only a ball valve can give you:
Up to 60 percent weight and space
savings for reduced transportation and
structural costs
Faster, easier operation saves time
Simpler assembly and repair for reduced
maintenance time and costs
Easy reconfiguration for new applications

Features & Benefits

Dynamic sealing FMCs Ball Valves
use a patented design with dual floating
seats and a floating ball to dynamically
apply line pressure thereby increasing the
sealing advantage. With flow in either
direction, the ball is preloaded between the
seats. The ball moves minutely under
pressure to seal tighter against the seats as
pressure increases. Preloading assures
tight shut-off from 0 psi to maximum
operating pressure.
Fewer moving parts Because FMC
Ball Valves have fewer moving parts than
other ball valves there are fewer things to
go wrong. No springs or ratchets are
required for sealing as with most competitive ball valves.
Extra large ball-to-seat contact
area Proven design promotes
positive sealing, long life, and
low turning torque under the
worst conditions.
Metal-to-metal sealing
Proven metal-to-metal seal
design prevents leakage at the
stem, seat, and end connections, even when resilient
seals are destroyed. You get
fire-safe trim and certification

to API 6FA and BS6755 by third-party

witness as a standard feature, not an extracost option.
End connections With the unique 3piece design (2 ends and body), virtually
any size, type, and combination of end
connection is available. Possible connections include butt-weld companion flanges
beveled to match pipe, threaded, socket
weld, and spools to match API or ANSI
flanges and FMCs Dynetor connectors.
Fast access fasteners All FMC Ball
Valves use 12-point external wrenching
cap screws which are readily tightened
with conventional 12-point box-end or
ratchet wrenches. Because the cap screw
sizes are smaller than studs and nuts on
similar API flange sizes, the torque
requirements are less. This feature
reduces the effort and time for maintenance. Cap screw thread corrosion is
virtually eliminated by the use of EPDM
gaskets to fill the gap between flange and
body.
Easy maintenance FMC Ball Valves
are easily repaired on-site with no special
tools required. By contrast, permanently
sealed competitor ball valves allow only
injection of additional sealant against
leaks. When not effective, the entire valve
must be replaced. Unlike conventional
flanged valves which are equipped with
ring joints that require line spreading (and/
or disassembly of other manifold components) to remove the valves for
servicing, FMC Ball Valves move in
and out of the system easily, usually
without disassembling any
other part of the manifold.
Engineered for simple
automation FMC Ball
Valves accept electric,
pneumatic, or hydraulic
actuators for remote
operation. The actuator
readily mounts to the
bolted valve bonnet for

FMCs Model B3260 Ball Valve

with hydraulic actuator.

FMCs Ball Valves are easily incorporated into FMC

production, well servicing, and other high-pressure
manifold systems.

factory or field installation. Provisions for

manual valve operation can be provided
with most actuators.
Worldwide parts and service FMCs
global network of service facilities assures a
local inventory of parts. Technical assistance, installation, and field service are all
available to get your system up and running
and keep it that way.
FMC maintains a complete range of Fluid
Control Systems products at its facilities
worldwide.

Stem seals and O-rings are available in a wide variety of materials for special applications.
Seat seals are available in PEEK or Arlon material.
Please refer to seat rating curves for working pressures verses temperature.

The material table illustrates the two

most common trim selections: Standard
NACE C.S. for non-corrosive fluids and
NACE S.S. for mild corrosion or fluids
containing hydrogen sulfide. A wide
selection of other materials are available
such as full 316 S.S. bodies and trim,
Duplex, or Inconel for the most difficult
environments.
