Advertisement for National Postgraduate Scholarship Scheme under BG
Tanzania for the 2015/16 Academic Year
The British Council is administering the National Postgraduate Scholarship Scheme funded by
BG Tanzania for Tanzanian students pursuing postgraduate education at selected Tanzanian
Higher Learning Institutions, focusing on selected energy-sector related engineering courses and
related courses in the 2015/16 Academic year. The Nelson Mandela African Institution of
Science and Technology is one of the Higher Education Institutions selected to participate in
Scholarship Scheme by offering the following masters programmes:
(i) Masters in Environmental Science and Engineering
(ii) Masters in Materials Science and Engineering
(iii) Masters in Sustainable Energy Science and Engineering
How to apply
Step 1: University admission
Interested candidates need to apply for admission to one- of the NM-AIST Masters
programmes mentioned above. The advertisement for degree the programmes and
application forms for the 2015/16 admission can be found on NM-AIST website
(www.nm-aist.ac.tz).
Step 2: Download application
Once you have received an offer for admission at NM-AIST in one of the above
programme, you can apply for the Scholarship Scheme by downloading an application
form from the British Council website http://www.britishcouncil.or.tz/studyuk/scholarships-funding/bg-scholarships. If you do not have admission, you will have to
apply admission in one of the above programmes.
Step 3: Application submission
Submit your completed scholarship application pack to the British Council Tanzania
through post office as per below postal address:

Council, Samora Avenue/Ohio Street,
P.O. Box 9100,
Dar es Salaam - Tanzania.

Coverage of the Scheme


The Scholarship Scheme covers the following:
(i)

Scholarship Awards are granted for full-time programmes starting in September/October


2015, and will cover the full period of study for the respective courses;

(ii)

Awards cover (1) academic tuition fees, (2) research costs, and (3) direct student costs,
including accommodation, living allowance etc., as agreed with NM-AIST; and

(iii) Applicants should note that the awards may not cover all costs associated with their
studies and that they may require additional funding (private or from other third parties).
Application Deadline
The deadline for applying for a scholarship award under this Scheme is 31st July 2015. By this
date, completed scholarship applications should have reached the British Council Office in Dar
es Salaam.
Applicants will be shortlisted and invited for interviews, and the final selection of scholars will
be announced by 15th September 2015.
