Multi-disciplinary Collaboration
Team- and Role-based Development
App projects demand acollaborative approach to facilitate
multi-disciplinary roles, in-house and/or outsourced, working
on multiple apps across multiple environments. Role-based
development allows separate client-side development
and backend integration with additional DevOps-enabled
functionality for cloud deployment. Coordination is enabled
and code is shared and re-used using Git repositories
both online and local, as apowerful version control and
collaboration tool.
Git
FeedHenry 3 introduces project-based app creation and
management. By giving every app and cloud backend within
a project its own Git repository, coordinated workflow
is areality. Git supports source code version control and
collaboration allowing for multiple developers to work on
the same code in parallel.
App Migration
With easy step-by-step on-boarding, existing mobile apps
can be migrated and centrally managed in the platform.

Whether itsan existing native, HTML5 or hybrid app,

the code is not lost, credentials and certificates are
centralized, and updates can be transferred from one
team to another.

BYOT Bring-your-own-Tools
Open Toolkits
FeedHenry 3 supports development your way whether
native, hybrid, HTML5 or web apps. Toolkits include native
SDKs, hybrid Apache Cordova, HTML5 and Appcelerator
Titanum as well as frameworks like Xamarin, Sencha,
Backbone.js, Angular.js. and Ember.js. For hybrid apps, the
platform gives the option to build, not only for multi-platform
mobile devices, but also as web apps. The development
of native apps is supported with SDKs for iOS, Android
and Windows Phone 8 with full access to other platform
functionality.
Online /Offline Workflow
Developers are free to work locally in their own environment
or online through the hosted IDE. FHC, the command
line interface (CLI) to the platform, allows developers to
code locally with their favorite editor and debuggers while

remaining connected to the project, the team and all

platform features. Working through the CLI or through
the online IDE developers can collaborate using Git,
leverage the MBaaS features and re-useable code, and
self-discover new cloud APIs and shared services.
Multi-platform Build Farm
The hosted Build Farm service provides builds for native
and hybrid apps for iOS, Android, Windows Phone and
Blackberry, generating the build and digitally signing the
apps. This eliminates the need to maintain device-specific
hardware/software environments. Digital certificates and
credentials are stored centrally so can be easily managed
and discovered by teams throughout the app lifetime.
Build Farm supports the latest version of Apache Cordova
with the option to create simple hybrid or advanced hybrid
apps that include any chosen Cordova plugins.

Backend Integration gets even easier

Out-of-the-box Connectors and Node.js Plugins
FeedHenry 3 comes with ready-to-use connectors to common
backend systems such as Salesforce, SAP and Oracle. IT
administrators can centrally provision and administer these
services, configure the customer-specific parameters, and
authorize usage at app and project level. MBaaS developers
can modify these APIs, all of which are written in Node.js.
They are also free to create new services using the 50+
Node.js plugins that the platform has curated and tested
examples include remote databases and storage, Amazon
Web Services, messaging, and push notifications as well as
other popular services like New Relic, Twillio and more or
by accessing the over 50,000+ module and code snippets
that the Node.js community has contributed.
Create and Share server-side APIs across projects
RESTful APIs are the building blocks of backend services and
can be created and managed from the platform. Developers
can create their own backend APIs in Node.js and share

them across multiple projects. A flexible service-based

architecture makes these APIs available for self-discovery
and re-use across multiple apps, greatly improving the
economics of mobility projects. The APIs are centrally
managed from the platform and administrators can
report on usage, performance and use avariety of builtin tools to troubleshoot problems.

Centralized Control of Security & Policy Management

Encryption and Endpoint Security
The managed proxy layer provides security between
device and backend systems, protecting endpoint data
from direct access to and from the mobile device. Security
begins on the device with the optional use of AES/RSA
client-side APIs for encryption of locally cached data,
followed by HTTPS from the app to the MBaaS and full
endpoint security. The platform allows the addition of
an API key per app to be enabled as arequirement for
the calls. Aset of authentication APIs makes it easy to
implement authentication with session management.
The use of Node.js gives access to awide range of crypto
functionality and enables developers to implement their
own level of security for agiven app.
Protecting Access to Enterprise Systems
Access from the MBaaS to backend systems can be secured
in accordance with the organizationsown security policies..
This can include the use of IP address punch through,
fully configured site-to-site VPNs, strong firewalls, DMZs,

approved data centers, approved data center locations

and more.
User Authentication & Authorization
User security and authentication can be managed using
FeedHenry credentials or ausersown LDAP/Active
Directory system. OAuth integration is also available for
third party services that provide this. SSO with vendorspecific offerings like Oracle Access Manager can also
be implemented. The platform supports the creation of
security policies associated with groups of users that can
be tied to either enterprise app store access, or to in-app
user authentication.
Single Click EMM Integration
FeedHenry 3 also now provides seamless integration into
Enterprise Mobility Management (EMM) platforms such
as AirWatch and MobileIron. Developers simply have to
tick abox and the app is integrated into the EMM, ready
to be distributed.
