FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
PR Log (Press Release) – Feb 17, 2010 – PALMER LAKE, COLO., February 17, 2010 – If you often find
yourself exhausted and depleted by the daily bombardment of unrelenting information and constant mental
stimulation, Satiama.com, a Web site that supports a spiritually integrated lifestyle, can offer you relief.
Satiama offers a new meditation course, entitled Deepen Your Meditation Using Sound Tools: Toning,
Mantra, Chanting and Affirmations, authored by sound healing pioneers Dean and Dudley Evenson. The
course, available at www.Satiama.com, offers a variety of ways to use sound to cultivate an inner oasis of
calm and stillness of mind that is established in meditative moments.

Students of Deepen Your Meditation Using Sound Tools: Toning, Mantra, Chanting and Affirmations will
receive a workbook, the Evensons’ Meditation Moment CD, three videos and an OM mp3 file. The
Evensons share some basic principles of meditation along with sound tools that can be used to take one’s
self deeper. “Sometimes the rational mind can get in the way of living a peaceful, contemplative existence,”
Dudley says. “The mind is getting carried away and trying to order us around.” The techniques and tools
used by the Evensons involve the use of sound, mantra, and music that flows with nature at a rhythm of
around 60 beats per minute, the range of a healthy heart rate. As a result, the mind does not engage in any
expectation of melody or refrain, a distraction to the “monkey mind.”

In this concise yet comprehensive course the Evensons impart wisdom and experience acquired through
four decades of meditation and yoga practice in which they have engaged in their ongoing quest for
spiritual peace and inner balance. Dean and Dudley are honored to share some of their life experiences and
insights for the benefit of students of this highly experiential course.

The course also seeks to answer common questions about meditation, including:

• Differentiating between prayer and meditation, and the practical use of meditation
• The goal of inner contemplation
• Creating a personal sanctuary for meditation practice
• Ideal body and hand positioning
• The role of breath in focusing the mind to release thoughts
• Creation and use of personal affirmations or mantras
• How one can use Tibetan bowls and bells
• How walking meditation differs from sitting meditation
• Choosing music that enhances meditation
• Benefits of a regular meditation practice
Sound meditation spans many cultures over thousands of years and has been used to quiet the mind, calm
emotions, expand awareness and establish a sanctuary of peace within the moment. The Evensons, whose
healing sounds and music also cultivates inner peace in daily existence, have made “peace through music”
a lifetime quest. Whether you are an experienced meditator or just learning the practice, the course equally
offers tools and techniques to help you go deeper into a place of inner silence and mental stillness where
stress and anxiety are left behind.

Stress-related illness and anxiety often lead to chronic physical and mental illness. Scientific research
illustrates the health benefits of sound meditation, including slowed breathing, lowered blood pressure, and
a decrease in stress hormone levels. Leaders in the field of mind/body medicine, including Dr. Deepak
Chopra, Joan Borysenko, Ph.D., Dr. Larry Dossey and Grammy award winner Naomi Judd, who used the
Evensons’ music to heal herself from life-threatening liver disease, endorse the Evensons’ work. “We
wanted to create music that would be useful in the meditation process,” Dudley explains of their first sound
recordings. “We heard from so many people who had used it in different times of their lives in dealing with
chronic pain or cancer, or certainly the birth process, and even in the dying process.” Dean continues, “We
delved into creating music that was appropriate for people to hear, that would bring together the energy of
the earth and the Native people as best we could, in a musical way, as well as the environmental sounds.”

“This class aligns perfectly with Satiama’s vision to foster each individual’s personal growth and
transformation,” says Karen Stuth, one of the founders of Satiama, LLC. “Dean and Dudley’s tools provide
the catalyst for inner peace that so many students of meditation seek.”

DEAN AND DUDLEY EVENSON’S ROAD TO PEACE

Dean and Dudley Evenson are pioneers in the field of healing music, having produced over 60 albums
since 1979 through their own record label, Soundings of the Planet. Dean has a Masters’ Degree in
Molecular Biology and half a century of flute playing. He has been able to combine his scientific
background with his artistic talents to explore and develop the principles of sound healing. Dudley’s
background is in art history, community relations and social activism.

During the 1970s, the Evensons were living in a half-size school bus in Aspen, Colo., raising their children
and traveling in the U.S. They spent the decade documenting the emerging consciousness, participating in
the ceremonies of Native American Elders. “We had this endless project of documenting,” Dudley
explains. “We were doing music, also, along with the video,” she continues.

Their motto, “Peace Through Music”, is reflected in their inspiring music of flute, harp and natural sounds.
Their recordings have been used in hospitals, healing centers, prisons, schools and spiritual centers to
support personal healing or life process work. With over two million albums sold, numerous hits on the
Billboard charts such as Ocean Dreams and Forest Rain, and their Sound Healing and Music for the
Healing Arts series, the Evensons remain on the cutting edge of healing and uplifting music, consistently
transporting people to a space where peace prevails. The Evensons teach meditation and sound healing
workshops nationwide, and have met several times with His Holiness the Dalai Lama.
