    I had a chance to hear Lamar Smith speak in person a few days’ ago about how things are going in Washington. He was visiting New Braunfels and stopped by my office for a visit. Well, not my office, but you know what I mean. I am excited Lamar is representing my district in Washington. He speaks the kinds of values I embrace. Lamar stated Obama has invited a select group of Senators and Congressmen to the Blair house for a bipartisan meeting on health reform to be held on February 25th (a few days away). Listed below is the announcement from the White House: http://is.gd/8COwm The following is a link to the official invitation announcement: http://is.gd/8COil The following is a link to the Senators and Congressmen who have been selectively invited to this event: http://is.gd/8CO0h What is our responsibility, as active participants in the voting process, regarding this meeting? If you have any ideas, feel free to let me know. One thing I think we need to do is contact those Congressmen going to this meeting to let them know what we want Washington to do regarding National Health Care. Some of the ideas I like are: • Congress needs to start all over again: clean the slate and start over people! o 61% Say Congress Should Start All Over Again on Health Care (http://is.gd/8CUdg) o Lamar Smith is all for this idea, and I am too. o Many in Congress don’t see things this way. • Serious Tort Reform addressed. o $240 billion in health expenditures were the result of doctors ordering unnecessary procedures to protect against the risk of lawsuits. (http://is.gd/8CYUS) o Lamar Smith is all for this idea, and I am too. o Many in Congress don’t see things this way. Other good ideas are located here (http://is.gd/8CUo6) I would like to see these two primary ideas brought to the Bipartisan Meeting on February 25th. Lamar is not invited to the meeting otherwise he would most likely bring these up. We need to get the word out to our Congressmen to let them know what we want them to bring to the table on this topic; otherwise, we may have to put up with whatever Washington chooses to ram down our throats without us having a voice. We are talking about our health! We have the best health care in the world, for now. If we don’t step up to the plate, when we get older and start needing to visit the doctors more often, guess what? We may be put on a long waiting list to see a doctor we don’t necessarily have any faith in seeing to begin with. We may not be authorized, or afforded, opportunities for simple procedures because the Federal government will choose what procedures are deemed worthwhile and which ones are not. I don’t want Washington telling my doctors how to do business. If they do, our doctors may (can and will) retire and be replaced with incompetent ones who received social scholarships to go to school on the curve. There are 21 names on this invitation list: 12 Democrats, 9 Republicans. It would be nice to contact each one of them and let them know what we want them to take to the table. http://is.gd/8CXr3 I’ll keep working on this topic. In the mean time, I’m challenging you to step up to the plate on this issue and do something. If we don't do anything, we don't deserve the freedom to complain about what they do to us. If we at least try to do something about it, we will have every right to complain LOUDLY if we choose to do so.

    I understand you are invited to attend the Bipartisan Meeting on Health Reform on February 25 .

    None of my senators are invited or I would contact them directly.

    Since healthcare affects me directly, I am choosing to communicate with you directly.

    As a taxpaying voter in America, I want to let you know my values regarding national healthcare reform:
    • First off, I would like Congress to start over from scratch and allow the bill to be written by a Bipartisan Team from both
    sides of the aisle.
    • Secondly, I would like the bill to directly address the desperate need for tort reform within the entire health care network.
    As long as these two points are successfully addressed, I will be a happy voter, prepared to support anyone who is supporting these
    two things.

    I have heard word from Kathleen Sebelius, the President will make public a single pre-written plan for healthcare to be the final bill.
    I’m not sure how that equates to a bill created by a bipartisan committee as it has already been written.

    As a concerned citizen I am prepared to do whatever I can to help our country get back in line.

    Thank you for your consideration.
