Brochure
Description:
A two sided gate-fold brochure.

Date:
July 10, 2015

Course:
Comm130 Section 17
Jason Stucki

Programs:
Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Photoshop, Adobe InDesign

Objectives:
Set up and correctly align a gate-fold.
Create an original design for a logo in the brochure.
Incorporate at least four quality images in the brochure and use Photoshop to
trim images to form.
Write at least 250 words of original copy in at least three paragraphs, headers,
and sub-headers.
Trim for full bleed and matching gate must be even.

Process:
I started off by seeing how many quality photographs I had of the sky and sunset.
After not finding the exact match, I combined a stormy sky with a beautiful sunset
image. Being a huge admirer of the Logan Utah Temple, I added the temple and
family to an image in the sky to reflect the eternal significance of the temple work.
I created a logo that I believe symbolizes the importance of a family structured in
accordance to the teachings of all prophets back to the foundation of the earth. I
then did the needed math and created a beautiful brochure to express the eternal
significance of a properly created family.

Web Page
Description:
The web page was designed to present an original logo. I actually design the logo
to be a rollover image because it catches the users attention and shows my ability
and knowledge of complex page design.

Date:
June 27,2015

Course:
Comm130 Section 17
Jason Stucki

Programs:
Netbeans, Photoshop, W3C Validator

Objectives:
Create an original logo as a .png 300 500 pixels.
Increase knowledge of HTML5. I limited the interactive aspect of the site to be
more appropriate for communication 130. I advanced my use of CSS3 compliance.
I gained valuable insight into the use of hexadecimal color reference. Identify hex
colors to match logo, using Photoshop color picker.
Open the HTML page in a web browser and capture a quality screen shot with .5
inch margins for printing.

Process:
Because of my college background, I have been put on an intense path while
completing my four year major in about two years. I have met a majority of
the core classes and have worked a great deal with DOM manipulation. I
created a rollover over effect so there is a mouse out and a mouse over version
of the page. This was a beginning level and simply page to showcase a small
fraction of my web knowledge.

Picture below is from mouse rollover

Imaging (Revised)
Description:
The original imaging was completely re-made with the addition of a second rabbit
to give depth and two slightly mismatched patterns of softer colors to create a
feeling of unity. I also now know how to blend images so the images have been
repaired and blended.

Date:
July 17, 2015

Course:
Comm130 Section 17
Jason Stucki

Programs:
Canon Camera Software, Adobe Photoshop,
https://color.adobe.com/create/color-wheel/

Objectives:

Improve the original color scheme and calm it down.

Incorporate more repitition to give unity to the layout..
Use Typography and Simple shapes to create a whole.
Use NDE to adjust the images.
Size and crop the images to fit.

Process:
Use Adobe Photoshop to make non-destructive editing. This is the major advantage
of Photoshop and is great as long as you have large images., Often in developing
images for the web, the size is limited by the view port. As a web developer I try to
create both simple, light, and complete works.

Flier
Description:
This was a simple design for a flier in order to gain a better working knowledge of
InDesign. I was particularly excited about experimenting with shapes.

Date:
May 9, 2015

Course:
Comm130 Section 17
Jason Stucki

Programs:
Adobe InDesign, Paint, and Adobe Illustrator.

Objectives:

Apply correct typography in accordance to design principles..

Use basic InDesign skills to improve basic flier layout.
Retrieve images and photos from a web page.
Learn to maintain links using InDesign.

Process:
This was not a difficult project but it is a great example of gestalt which is being
more heavily explored in the world of web development. The ability for the mind
to complete a structure is becoming more critical to the world of web development.
The less pixel density results in better transfer and less page weight. It is because of
the completeness of this work to stand alone with less on pixels creating an easy to
convert to a web layout type of design.

Logo
Description:
This logo was designed to symbolize our Native Habit Restoration Project here in
Middleton, ID. This logo was created to reduce page weight and increase clarity for
our mission.

Date:
June 6,2015

Course:
Comm130 Section 17
Jason Stucki

Programs:
Adobe Illustrator

Objectives:

Create three original logos for an organization to appeal to a particular audience.

Do market research and collect at least ten opinions.
Use only adobe illustrator to create the product.
Refine the best logo (shown) using color variations.

Process:
The logo was drawn using extensively the pen tool in Adobe Illustrator. I am not a
great freehand artist but I can create great works using relatively simple shapes.
Because I am a web development major, I always try to stay focused on increased
retrieval speed and reduced page weight. With the use of mobile devices, designers
of logos must be considerate of the demands of the web browser and the printed
media, both.

Event Ad
Description:
This was a pretend fund raiser to showcase my ability to use a common word
processor like Microsoft word to create an attractive and fluent advertisement.

Date:
May 14,2015

Course:
Comm130 Section 17
Jason Stucki

Programs:
EPSON Scan, Microsoft Word (I was required)

Objectives:

Learn how image sizing and pixel density is related.

Use a scanner to import a high quality image.
Create a full bleed design.
Choose color scheme and typefaces to appeal and lure a particular audience.
Learn how to use Microsoft word to create the design.

Process:
InDesign was used to create a simple layout and color scheme to promote a fake
plant sale. The colors were chosen because of their relationship to grass, land, and
sky. People are all about going green so the dominant color for a native plant
sale should be a green. If other colors like brown, or gray, were dominant then the
viewer may have imagined dead plants and a wasted environment. The greens
allowed me to symbolize living plants and create a feel of a growing and healthy
environment.

Montage
Description:
The image was inspired through prayer. I was seeking knowledge of the strait
and narrow path. Because First Corinthians discusses the degrees of glory as being
of different elements, I have included the moon, the sun, and the darkness as seen
here from earth while gleaming at the immense energy of the Aurora Borealis.

Date:

Course:
Comm130 Section 17
Jason Stucki

Programs:
Adobe Photoshop

Objectives:

Use FOCUS to show strong focal point and flow.

Create a uniform layout.
Blend two or more images together gradually, using masks
Perfect advanced Photoshop skills.
Use masks to apply multiple filters to the image.
Apply the concepts of typography and tell the theme.
Learn to select great quality images.

Process:
After contemplating all I had read in the scriptures, I wanted to create a montage
which started out as a sunset in the desert. Then I laid the ocean over the desert.
Then I used masking and various sizes and opacities with the brush tool to blend the
Northern Lights, the night sky, a dock, and a stone pathway. I used the lasso tool
and various size feathers to remove the images from the original image. I used the
quick select tool for the moon.

Business Card
Description:
I created a business card for an aquaponic supply company I would love to start here
in Idaho dealing in aquaponics. This logo will also be used in other class projects for
a Favicon.

Date:
June 13,2015

Course:
Comm130 Section 17
Jason Stucki

Programs:
Adobe Illustrator and InDesign.

Objectives:

Create a new and original logo to fit a company or personal image.

Create consistent layouts for a business card and letterhead.
Use photos as additional design elements.
Business card should be 3.5 x 2 and printed above center on vertical page.
Apply typography rules, keeping small copy.

Design simple with light watermark, drop shadow, and use white space.

Process:
The business card and logo are designed to reflect the idea of environment
consciousness and conservation. The fin is actually the State of Idaho. If I
could have, I would have tried filling the entire fish with overlaping Idaho
images to give scales. The watermark is made to give flow to the design and
bring the viewer to action.

Letterhead
Description:
This is designed to match the business card design on the previous page. This is
design to complete a stationary set.

Date:
June 13, 2015

Course:
Comm130 Section 17
Jason Stucki

Programs:
Adobe Illustrator and InDesign

Objectives:

Implement the logo on the Letterhead.

The letterhead is to complete the stationary set.
Use photos as additional design elements.
Apply typography rules, keeping small copy.
Letterhead should be 8.5 x 11, full-bleed optional, but trim only .125.
Simple design with light watermark and drop shadow and plenty of white space.
Use periods, bullets, or spaces in phone number; no parentheses/ hyphens.

Process:
InDesign was used to create an 8.5 by 11 letterhead to complete the stationary set
started with the business card above. The type between the two must be consistent
creating a complete set.

Imaging
Description:
This was an experiment in combining a photograph with a matching color scheme.
I went with harsh contrasts to try to develop a better layout. I will try to create a
better photo project to showcase my ability better.
