Holy Baptism is the basis of the whole Christian life, the gateway to life in the

of God; we become members of Christ, and are incorporated into the Church

Shepherd of Gods people

Today our attention is drawn toward shepherding Gods flock.
More so, the focus is Jesus the good shepherd who desires to
lead his faithful at all cost even to the point of shedding his
blood. What does it entail to be shepherd in our contemporary
communities and what are the expectations of a shepherd. First,
we look at the roles of the church leaders who are in the
forefront caring for their faithful. For example, if we look at the
Bishops crozier, it is like the shepherds crook which is used to
guide the flock. It means therefore that the first role of the
shepherd is to guide the flock as well as protect them from
wolves.
However, being shepherd is by no means limited to the clergy.
Parents have the responsibilities of being the first shepherds of
their home. Then we have the teachers at school I do not mean
that teachers should become a kind of big brother to children
but they have the duty like parents to teach pupils to imbibe the
right conduct of the society as enshrined in the immutable truth
of God. This is where the Lord becomes the good shepherd who
will never starve His flock of the right menu of life. We too are
invited to imitate the Lord in providing the right answers which
our society so earnestly desires.
