The Solar New Year Date (2/21/2013 yellow square) is considered the first day of a 365 day solar year calendar. Since the Maya count every day including
leap year, these dates change every 4 years. NOJ, IK KIEJ & E are the time keepers and creator of calendars. 8 BATZ DAYS (03/27/2012 AND 12/12/2012
blue squares) are considered the beginning of a sacred 260 day prophetic calendar. Huge celebrations take place in Guatemala on 8 Batz days every 260 days.
The Kiche consider the center point of the calendar to be the beginning of time. Everything begins at the center. They believe that they need 20 days/suns to recreate the calendar. It is a little like God created Heaven and Earth in 7 days and on the 7th day he rested... The Kiche rest on day 21, after 20 days of
meditation prayer, purification and ceremony.
