Propagation Model Calibration
The propagation model is a statistical formula based on empirical measurement data. So,
the results predicted by the general propagation model generally do not coincide with real
radio environments exactly. The propagation model could be modified to obtain a more
precise result, which would be closer to real radio environments.

Simulation
The main purpose of designing the Mobile Telecommunications System is to determine the
optimal site location which would provide the best quality of service to a specific service area.
With advanced CDMA technological expertise and operating know-how, Seoul Commtech. is
currently providing top quality CDMA network engineering services to operators not only in
domestic but in overseas.

Simulation
AnyPlan is a PC-based simulator for wireless radio network design and is used to determine
the optimal sites location to provide good service quality before the radio network is implemented
23
Simulation
Apply the RF characteristics with radio parameter and
Analyze the signal level with different way of
RF link.
24
Simulation
Signal Power
The signal power is a total received signal power of the point that mobile station is located.
Total received signal power means a total received power passing through the antenna of
the CDMA phone. And this power is calculated by summing the signal power received from
the each base stations existing within the analysis radius
25
Simulation
Pilot Ec/Io
In CDMA system, the Pilot Ec/Io is analysis item to determine the forward link coverage.
As a Pilot Ec/Io is a ratio of pilot channels chip energy from serving cell to total received
power spectral density, it is used to divide service area of each site.
26
Simulation
Hand off
A unique feature of the CDMA system is the make before break soft handoff, which improves
the performance of mobile stations in handoff areas. From the MS point of view, there is no
difference between the soft handoff and the softer handoff. From the network point of view,
however, additional hardware overhead is required to soft handoff. Therefore, users have to
determine the proper handoff area for the efficiencies of channel resource and performance of
mobile station.
27
Simulation
Mobile EIRP & Mobile Data EIRP
The Mobile EIRP and Mobile Data EIRP are power transmitted through the antenna of
the CDMA phone. It is a power demanded to satisfy the reverse link performance of the
base stations receiver and is calculated by using the propagation loss and system parameters.
The Mobile EIRP and Mobile Data EIRP are used to analyze the reverse link coverage.

Simulation
Throughput
Throughput is the amount of work that a system can do in a given time period.Throughput
is a more qualitative term than data rate of bandwidth, meaning in general how much can
be accomplished or transmitted over a fixed time period. The air link throughput is calculated in AnyPlan.
Air link throughput represents the maximum data throughput at which a mobile station can receive.
The results of air link throughput include only the effect of the radio channel characteristics.
