FROM YOUR PASTOR

Mike Northcutt - ebc@eastmont.org

In 1972 a plane carrying a Uruguay Rugby
team crashed in the Andes Mountains. There were
45 passengers. For 72 days 16 of them survived
temperatures as low as 35 degrees below zero.
Food ran out. Search parties gave up. Cannibalism
occurred. Three men left the fuselage to find help. The
leader told the others, If we die, we will die walking.

In my 42 years of ministry Ive watched many
churches that God allowed to either relocate, merge
or close. Some closed because of sitting and doing
nothing. Refusing to minister to their community, but
many others closed walking. They served faithfully
until God moved them. Second Baptist Church
Montgomery was being surrounded by businesses.
Members moved to the suburbs. The dedicated
members kept walking and working. The result? One
of the best and most God honoring churches emerged
on the Atlanta Highway. We all sit in the shade of
trees we did not plant. Im grateful for those early
gardeners. Lets all keep walking and planting trees.

CHILDRENS MINISTRY
Jeremy Lynch - jlynch@eastmont.org

School is right around the corner and that means school

supplies are on sale. I would like to take a moment to
highlight this as a great opportunity to stock up on
Operation Christmas Child Shoebox items, especially
with these hot summer school sales at Target, Walmart,
Walgreens, and The Dollar Tree. Its like Christmas in July!

By the way, the sixteen Uruguay survivors met
for years in Montevideo. They all changed their birth
dates to December 22. The spring day on which they
were rescued. It occurred to me that we celebrate our
birthday together each Sunday.

Sunday School Teachers Needed

Willie Nelson once sang about a girl he never
forgot. Though miles away she was always on my
mind. Each day people and activities will preoccupy
your mind. You cant avoid that. Yet for those who love
the Lord Jesus, He is somehow always on our mind.
Our thoughts always return to His wonderful grace.
What a comfort!

7 Up Party

I have always believed worship should be a
happy experience. I sensed that more than ever last
Sunday. The music, the youth testimonies, the praying,
the orchestra, the choir, and the childrens time were
all anointed. Even the falling confetti reminded me of
the continued blessings of God. We have a glorious
past, but I believe our greatest days are ahead of us.

Ill see you Sunday,

WAM (Worship, Arts, & Music) FOR KIDS

WAM for Kids begins this year on

promotion Sunday, August 2 at 5:00 PM.
Children are in some of the most critical
years of faith formation. We believe that
music and the arts play a significant role in
helping them explore faith and learn about God. Partner
with us this year by helping reinforce at home what they
will be learning in their rehearsals on Sunday nights. Ask
questions about what they are learning. What we teach
them goes beyond just creative movement, playing an
instrument, or singing a song. We desire that they know
and experience the beauty of God by participating in His
beauty through music and the arts. We look forward to
another meaningful and fruitful year of learning, creating,
and singing.
We are in need of additional teachers/helpers in order
for this program to be successful. Will you prayerfully
consider working with our WAM FOR KIDS music
program this year? Please contact Gayla Reaves (4206311) for more information or to sign-up to work with
your/ our children. Without adult workers we cannot
offer the childrens music program.
