POLICY:
It is the policy of TUI HOTELS to apply common planning and design principles to the planning
of new hotels and hotel renovations in order to maintain guest quality and comfort and a
marketable image.
PROCEDURE:
This procedure establishes and outlines the handling of design and planning within a technical
services agreement between TUI HOTELS and the respective individual hotel.
COMMUNICATIONS
1.
Telephone System
This should be a private branch exchange system corresponding to the requirements of the
TUI HOTELS and to be provided in such a way as to allow expansion on each
of the facilities referred to below.
The following is an outline only of the basic requirement; a full detailed description will be issued
to each Project. A number of exchange lines for outgoing traffic only, a number of exchange
lines for two-way traffic with through dialing facility. The total number of each of the two above
may be but should be subject to discussion with TUI HOTELS re likely traffic.
Terminal extension sets for each of guest bedrooms plus extension sets in junior suites and
suites. Guest bedroom sets to be plug-in type with two points per guest bedroom, one at
bedside, and the other at the dressing table. Precise location will be determined for each
type of room.
A minimum..............maximum .............terminal sets for internal hotel service extensions.
The incorporation of maximum "service levels" for direct single number dialing from guest
bedrooms to designated outlets, switch able to Operator if unmanned.
Dial facility to maximum two-digit number from guest bedroom to computer interface for
room management system.
A guest message-recording device to be incorporated for replay to guest.
Guest "Message Waiting" light to be incorporated in terminal set.
Direct dial facility from one guest bedroom to another to be incorporated via single digit
service level code.
Bar to guest telephone system for external use, activated at reception.
Selective barring facilities to all service and administration telephone sets.
Conference call facilities to be provided within administration telephones.
All main administration offices to be fitted out with multi-link phones enabling full secretarial

Each guest bedroom to have TV set controlled from bedside with channel selection, on/off and
volume controls. Maximum four channels available for video film transmission. Facilities for:

Ballrooms and large conference rooms will each normally require the following:
Facility for closed circuit TV with transmission through to guest bedrooms including
recording facilities.
Suitable light span track for each area to be planned together with the interior designer.
Simultaneous translation equipment.
One motorized projection screen in each room.
Sound amplification system with ceiling mounted speakers.
Back projection TV.
Radio microphone facility (Rovers).
Standard microphones and stands.
Table - full height.
Full projection equipment.
Loop antennae for simultaneous translation.
Feed back facilities to the body of rooms.
Blackout screens motorized for both rooms.
Two mobile lecterns with controls for blackout, screen, lights and sound system complete
with microphone.
NOTE:
Full supply of telephone jacks sound input and output sockets lighting and
power to be provided around the perimeter of both rooms including panels
inset in floor subject to detailed discussions.
