INTRODUCTION
In era 2020, obesity has become a common problem among children. According to the statistical
report of the National Health Center (National Center for Health Statistics) 2002, a rough
estimate of obesity for children and adolescents is 15% of the total population in the USA.
Many people have the notion that obesity in adults will bring more negative effects either
physically or mentally than children. According to Kelishadi, WHO 2007, obesity become more
serious cases in children and adolescents in developing countries? Disease obesity is a major
factor resulting in the metabolic syndrome high among the adult population in Asia. The World
Health Organization (WHO) estimates that by 2015, approximately 2.3 billion people in the
world will have more weight and 700 million people will suffer from obesity. In Malaysia, the
increase of obesity among children aged 7-10 years is 6.6% for the age of seven years to 13.8%
for age 10 years. The children who are obese are at risk for becoming obese as adults, and this
situation will lead to the existence of other chronic problems in the future (Chee et al, 2008)
In fact, even the adults face obesity problem, they will try effective ways to lose weight. Whereas
for children, due to the young age and lack of maturity of mind and experience of obesity, they
will leave with unattended such problems but get advice and help from adults.
Obesity is the accumulation of excess fat build up inside the body of a person. It is now regarded
as a disease and occurs when fatty tissues become excessive. To make matters worse, obesity can
interfere with and harm the body organs and thus will lead to serious health problems. Apart
from limiting the physical and social activities, it also threatens the life expectancy of sufferers.
In 2002, Wang, Monteiro and Popkin have conducted a study in the United States, China, Brazil
and Russia on obesity. Results of their study showed that teenagers weight increased at 2 and 3
of the last century. In the Chinese state, for example, adolescent body weight increased by 7.7%,
Brazil 13.9% and the U.S. 25.6%. In fact, dietary habits have been formed since childhood. 80%

In addition, psychologists also show that the provision of a long amount of time to watch
television negative effects on health. Among these are the causes of obesity. Parents should
ensure their children do not watch television more than four hours a day to prevent obesity.
While watching television, children are just sitting and not moving. The effect will be more
significant if they are down to watch television while eating junk food.

Throughout all the activities which carried out during promoted healthy lifestyle week,
there are some strength and weaknesses was find out, the strength which find out during the
activities are, we got opportunity to find out so many talented children in sports activities and
other fields. In addition, we got opportunity to integrate all the parents, children and teachers
throughout this activity and its also helps to reduce work stress among parents and teachers.
Moreover, everyone happy and give their full support during health promotion day.
The weakness which was found out is not enough places for everyone to make activities
such as aerobic at same time. Even we cant make all the activities at same place because not
enough placements to do sports activities.
activities at town hall and fields to welcome all the students and parents in future.
In addition, some participator gets upset because not enough time to play and need to
wait until others play such football and netball. Their require us to add time for the sports
activities. So, our member suggests doing each time one sport activity. Moreover, they also
suggest giving variety of sports activity such as bowling, swimming and so on in future.
Further more, participation for explorace, jungle tracking, drama, dancing, singing and
health talk, fitness test and medical checkup were not achieving the target. Some parents are shy
to show their talent and fear to carry out medical checkup. So, what we suggest is we should
17

increase promoting not only using flyer, other than that using television, radio, throughout media
and internet to increase our participation.
Conclusion
Healthy lifestyle is important to prevent the occurrence of obesity. According to Davids "It's
about children's behavior, parents behavior, community behavior. Parents say their communities
don't have enough opportunities for physical activity. But that's not the kids' fault. Parents should
take their childrens. So parents should ensure that they limit the time their children spent on
watching television, make smarter choices of food, and improve their parenting style.
Youre sincerely
