Responds
to
Erv
Brinker
Arraignment
The
Attorney
General
of
Michigan
yesterday
charged
Erv
Brinker
with
three
felonies,
including
health
care
and
Medicaid
fraud,
and
embezzlement
from
Summit
Pointe,
and
he
was
arraigned
today.
Over
the
past
several
months,
Summit
Pointe
Board
leadership,
along
with
outside
counsel,
has
worked
closely
with
a
team
of
attorneys
and
investigators
from
the
Attorney
Generals
office
after
discovering
inappropriate
activity
by
former
CEO
Erv
Brinker.
With
that
investigation
complete
and
charges
having
now
been
filed,
the
Board
is
relieved
this
chapter
is
over,
and
continues
to
move
Summit
Pointe
forward.
When
our
Board
was
informed
of
employee
concerns
about
irregularities
in
contracting
and
expenditures,
we
engaged
Fraser
Trebilcock
as
independent
counsel
to
conduct
a
careful,
external
investigation.
What
we
found
through
that
process
increasingly
disappointed
and
alarmed
us
as
a
Board,
and
among
a
series
of
other
necessary
actions,
we
contacted
the
appropriate
authorities.
We
are
very
appreciative
of
the
efforts
of
the
Attorney
General,
and
the
Department
of
Health
and
Human
Services,
and
we
are
relieved
that
this
difficult
chapter
is
finally
over,
said
Trae
Allman,
Summit
Pointe
Board
Chair.
We
would
also
like
to
thank
the
incredible
team
here
at
Summit
Pointe.
Their
efforts
on
our
behalf
were
tireless,
and
they
were
always
mindful
of
the
families
of
Calhoun
County,
who
we
serve,
said
Mr.
Allman.
We
also
appreciate
the
patience
and
support
of
Summit
Pointes
customers,
and
the
citizens
of
Calhoun
County,
who
allowed
our
Board
to
work
on
their
behalf
through
this
series
of
challenges.
Summit
Pointe
is
always
about
human
care,
and
has
a
deserved
statewide
reputation
for
providing
excellent
mental
health
services,
said
Jeannie
Goodrich,
Interim
CEO.
Our
staff
is
among
the
finest
in
the
state,
and
they
deserve
the
high
regard
in
which
they
are
held.
Each
of
my
colleagues
at
Summit
Pointe
remains
focused,
as
always,
on
those
who
need
our
services.
Im
confident
that
we
will
continue
to
provide
superb
services,
and
continue
our
mission
of
Making
Life
Work."
