The Nogojiwanong Friendship (NFC) is seeking the right individual to lead our organization
towards a bright future.
Job Purpose
The Executive Director is responsible for the successful leadership and management of
Nogojiwanong Friendship Centre in accordance with the strategic direction established by the
Board of Directors. Reporting to the Board of Directors, the Executive Director will be responsible
for the management and direction of services and activities related to organizational and
program development ensuring that priority issues and concerns for the NFC Aboriginal
Community are designed to improve and enhance social well-being of Urban Aboriginal People.
Key Responsibilities

Assist in establishing and leading a team of qualified program staf


Participate and assist with the Board of Directors in implementing a vision, mission, values,
and strategic plan to guide the agency
Identify, assess, and inform the Board of Directors of internal and external issues that
afecting the agency
Act as a professional advisor to the Board of Directors on all aspects of the agency's
activities
Collaborate with stakeholders, the Board, and Staf to cultivate efective team work. Have
a working knowledge with the tools and practices integral to working with the Urban
Aboriginal Community
Act as a spokesperson for the agency in addition to the President of the Board
Familiar with and knowledgeable about the Friendship Centre Movement
Flexible and available to attend evening and or weekend meetings and events as required
The incumbent should have relevant formal training in the social services and
management sciences field normally acquired through the completion of a graduate
program (e.g. MSW, MBA, Business Administration in not-for-profit management) or
equivalent experience working in an Aboriginal Non-Profit organization.
Experience working in program planning, design, organization, implementation and
evaluation of community based programs for Aboriginal organizations and strategic
planning;
Experience and knowledge of the function of a Board of Directors
Proven track record in managing a multi-service agency, including creating and expanding
community presence, recognition, and opportunities for growth through branding
strategies, media and funder relations, networking, and strategic partnerships
