TUESDAYFOCUS ON CHRISTS MIRACLES

Chronological Bible Reading: Psalm 49-51; Romans 9
Tuesday, July 28

Luke 2:18 And all they that heard it wondered at those things which were told them by
the shepherds.

Mark 1:40 And there came a leper to him, beseeching him, and kneeling down to him,
and saying unto him, If thou wilt, thou canst make me clean.

2 Cor. 7:1 Having therefore these promises, dearly beloved, let us cleanse ourselves
from all filthiness of the flesh and spirit, perfecting holiness in the fear of God.

Majestic Lord:
Make it just like that! I want everyone I tell about Jesus during Outreach
August to be amazed at the marvelous works of God in our church. This is
important to my witnessing, because holy wonder is real close to true worship.
Overwhelm __________s soul with the majesty of your glory. Let even
__________ silently adore you!
You are to be witnessed about as Wonderful (Isa. 9:6). Why are you the
Wondrous One? Because you considered your marred creature instead of
throwing the clay away! Because you took it on yourself to be my Redeemer, and
paid a ransom price with your own blood. This indeed is marvelous. Make it
wondered-at among my friends and family who do not know you, because it is a
miracle of grace you would ever forsake your throne above to suffer so humbly
for me below. My soul loses itself in that very practical emotion: wonder.
I pray for that attitude to grow among my lost friends, because it will lead
them to grateful worship at the same time as it constrains me to godly
watchfulness. Make me be afraid to sin today against such a love as this, and to
help my lost friends feel the mighty presence of God in the gift of your dear Son!
Make us put the shoes off our feet together before you at camp and in church.
Give others the same hope I have. Since Jesus did such marvelous things
on my behalf, even heaven itself is not too much to expect. How can I be
astonished at anything less, once I have seen he gave all on the cross? What is
there wonderful left, after I see Jesus bleeding for me? Make me today imitate the
shepherds of Bethlehem, who told all they had heard and seen. Amen.

Merciful Savior and Master:

Just before this event I read how you had special prayer. You went out
alone to the mountainside to have communion with God. Today I am alone in
my heart, but wherever I kneel it is the mountain of the Lord to me, because I am
stepping before your throne of grace. I do so for All-Church Camp starting
tomorrow. Send me from here like you yourself wentcharged with power to
change others. You received it from heart-contact with the King. I can expect to
see wonders. May devils fear and fly at the presence of your Spirit through me!
Have I seen other peopleat work or in my neighborhoodcondemned
to live alone? Some people are so defiled they spread corruption wherever they
go. Give even them a confident faith in you because of my witness. You can
make them whole! Do so now, for glorious is your power to save.
I confess that you, Lord, have all power in heaven and on earth. For that
reason I ask you to use me as your tool to work on some hard case today. Is
there not someone I know to whom your grace can prove your all-power?
I know they want to be delivered! I know they are sick of themselves (and
hate themselves). With heart and soul they want to be free from guilt. Lord, help
them sense how depraved their heart iseven before I speak to them. By your
Holy Spirit, help them see their unholiness and how diseased they are with sin.
There is no medical or surgical treatment for being lost. Yet if the lost will
simply trust in the nature of your character, they can be cured of the cancer of
sin. Why should I not find such grand faith, even as you did after prayer? Let me
find it among my contacts today, because I ask for it just like Jesus did! Amen.

Holy Lord and Almighty Redeemer:

Holiness, holiness is what I long for! Make my talk, my walk, and my
thought all be holiness unto the Lord. Many people strive for moral virtue, but really
do not know Christ. I dont want to be like them, because only the righteousness
of Christ will suffice at your throne (and at the Judgment Seat of Christ).
Gen. 17:1 And when Abram was ninety years old and nine, the LORD appeared to
Abram, and said unto him, I am the Almighty God; walk before me, and be thou perfect.
I desire for my holiness not to come from me, but be unto the Lord. Enable
me by your grace to be perfectnot in myselfbut because I am walking by
your Spirit in integrity and sincerity. Help me to have no master but you, no law
but your will, and no delight but in your way. Maybe heres how:
Prov. 4:23 Keep thy heart with all diligence; for out of it are the issues of life.
Take my heart Lord, and keep it with you. Only if my heart is right will I be
guarded from going astray! Help me never dishonor my baptism, by which I
preached that I was dead and buried to worldly things and risen with Christ my
Lord. I give myself away for you to use me. Let me not become successful by
your grace and then deteriorate, and even disintegrate after Camp. Let me not
bear fruit and then become barren in the end, because
Prov. 4:18 the path of the just is as the shining light, that shineth more and more
unto the perfect day.
That is what my spirit craves. I dont want to just talk about it, but be
about it, because that is revival. Make my life start with Christ, end with Christ,
and bring increase to our church. Grant it for Jesus sake and glory. Amen.

A DAILY PATTERN FOR PRAYER & BIBLE READING

Chronological Bible Reading: Psalm 55-57; Romans 11
Thursday, July 30

Matt. 9:2 And, behold, they brought to him a man sick of the palsy, lying on a bed:
and Jesus seeing their faith said unto the sick of the palsy; Son, be of good cheer; thy sins be
forgiven thee.

MARVELOUS grace of our loving Lord, grace that exceeds our sin and our guilt!
Yonder on Calvarys mount outpoured, there where the blood of the Lamb was
spilled.
Sin and despair, like the sea waves cold, threaten the soul with infinite loss;
Grace that is greater, yes, grace untold, points to the refuge, the mighty cross.
Dark is the stain that we cannot hide. What can avail to wash it away?
Look! There is flowing a crimson tide, brighter than snow you may be today.
Marvelous, infinite, matchless grace, freely bestowed on all who believe!
You that are longing to see His face, will you this moment His grace receive?
Grace, grace, Gods grace, grace that will pardon and cleanse within;
Grace, grace, Gods grace, grace that is greater than all our sin.

Julia H. Johnston, 1911

Psa. 5:2 Hearken unto the voice of my cry, my King, and my God: for unto thee will I
pray.
Oh Lord, We Lift You Up:
Here us again while we cry. Our concern in Outreach August is your cause
in our community. We are often puzzled about it. Some days seem to be neither
darkness nor light, but mixed. Make the light overcome all darkness in our midst!
Raise-up in our church a generation that knows and teaches the truth
of your word. We have so much superficial Christianityso much profession
without true possession to back it up. Lord, may our church grow and be built
with precious living stones, and not with wood, hay and stubble!
Isa. 50:7 For the Lord GOD will help me; therefore shall I not be confounded:
therefore have I set my face like a flint, and I know that I shall not be ashamed.
Help us so know your word that no one can talk us (or beat us) out of it.
May we hold it so tightly our faces seem like flint, set against the errors of false
religion and counterfeit Christianity. Let us so practice your word, by the help of
your Spirit, that our lives are an argument no one can answer!
Along with this, be pleased to grant our church more power to preach the
gospel on Wednesday nights. Make us more fruitful in soulwinning (both here
and abroad with the apostles we send). Let us never rest without sowing good
seed beside all still waters. Forgive us our coldness and indifference in the past!
Help us to be alive while we are living. Free us from the graveclothes of the past.
We want to leave and mortify the old man, and really live unto you. Make us
Rom. 12:11 Not slothful in business; fervent in spirit; serving the Lord;
Do it Lord Jesus, through your Spirit, in our church your body, by grace, to
Gods eternal glory. And God, exalt your Son in our midst this summer. Amen.

Psa. 73:24 Thou shalt guide me with thy counsel, and afterward receive me to glory.
My God and King:
You have the hearts of all men in your hand. Form my heart according to
your will and into the image of your own Son. Be my light and my strength. Make
me run in the way of holiness. Let all the means of grace (Bible reading, prayer,
meditation, and worship) be continued in me, and made useful for the great
purposes you appointed them. Proclaim your gospel through me, and let all your
providences be sacred to me.
Let your mercies draw me nearer to you, as with the cords of love. Let the
several strokes of your afflicting hand wean me from sin, mortify me to this
world, and make me ready to depart and be with you forever. Guide me by your
counsels and secure me by your grace in all my travels through the dangerous
wilderness of this world. At last, give me triumph, and an abundant entrance into the
kingdom of your Son in glory.
But while I am here, I wear this body of flesh, and there are many things
necessary to support my life and make it easy and comfortable. I beg you to
bestow these conveniences and refreshments on me and my family (my family in
the world and my family in the faith). Do it so far as is consistent with your own
glory and the design of your grace. Let my health, strength and peace be
maintained. And let holiness to the Lord be inscribed on everything, so whatever I
receive from your hand can be improved to your honor and my own best
advantage. Heal my diseases and pardon my iniquities so my soul may ever bless
you. These things I ask in Jesus name and for his sake. Amen.
2 Pet. 1:11 For so an entrance shall be ministered unto you abundantly into the
everlasting kingdom of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.

TIMEWORSHIP

Mark 1:35 And in the morning, rising up a great while before day, he went out, and
departed into a solitary place, and there prayed.
GIVE GOD THE FIRST PART OF EVERY DAY. The first commitment is
to a daily quiet time with God. Our weekly Prayer Diary provides a template for daily
devotions.
2)!

TITHEWORK

1 Cor 16:2 Upon the first day of the week let every one of you lay by him in store, as God
hath prospered him, that there be no gatherings when I come.
GIVE GOD THE FIRST DIME OF EVERY DOLLARno questions
asked. Ten percent is a miniscule amount in our affluent society, but it must come
off the top in order to show that God is our priority. We want the blessing of the
firstfruits (first devotion, first dime and first day) to flow out to the rest of our
resources.

Baptists tend to ridicule liturgical churches that use "prepared prayers" because
they lack spontaneity. But for many Baptists, their prayers are so predictable they are
no more spontaneous than written-out prayers. The result is we end up praying the
same things over and over.

5:30P.M. WEDNESDAY-NOON SATURDAY

All Church Camp at Windermere near Camdenton, MO. Be praying for our
camp speaker, the adult, youth and kids teachers, and traveling mercies. Meet us
tonight at 5:30p.m. if you are one of The 300 going with us!

This daily Prayer Diary will prompt you on a wide range of prayer requests you
might not normally think of, while forcing you to articulate a deeper devotion to
God. We have included a daily Bible reading schedule. This plan will take you
through the Bible chronologically in a year.
Do not read ahead and do not try to catch up. Use each day as it comes. Then
you can know that on any given day, dozens of other people are lifting their hearts in
the same mind to God. Pray what is written, but use what is prayed as a springboard
for your own relationship with God. You learn to pray by praying.

Secret prayer is the secret of prayer, the soul of prayer, the seal of prayer, the
strength of prayer. If you do not pray alone you do not pray at all. Our Lord Jesus
Christ would go nowhere till He had prayed. He would attempt nothing till He had
prayed.
Oh, says one, I live in the spirit of prayer, and therefore I do not need times
and seasons for prayer. And do you think that Christ did not live in the spirit of
prayer? Yet He had to have his special time and place to pray. Do not fall under the
injurious notion that because your spirit cries to God in prayer all day long, therefore
there must not be some season for more immediately coming into Gods presence. If
you imagine this, I am afraid that it will prove a snare to your feet. The Lord Jesus
Christ, who knew better than you do that the main thing is the spirit of prayer rather
than the act of prayer, yet Himself retired into desert places to maintain the act and
exercise of prayer. Be spiritual. Be baptized into the spirit of prayer. But do not be
deceived by the enemy, who can steal a spirit away while we dream that we only
spiritualize it. We had better preserve the very bones of prayerthe posture, the
time, placerather than let it all ooze away into an impalpable mental condition.
God keep us prayerful. He will do so if He makes us like His dear Son.
Charles H. Spurgeon, 1834-92
