# cd /usr/openv/netbackup/bin
# ./vxlogcfg -a -p 51216 -o Default -s DebugLevel=5 -s DiagnosticLevel=5

Note: For servers with high logging levels and lots of activity, the vxlogview c

further back the query has to search.
To return to the default level of logging for all daemons run:
# cd /usr/openv/netbackup/bin
# ./vxlogcfg -a -p 51216 -o Default -s DebugLevel=1 -s DiagnosticLevel=1
To disable logging for all daemons run:
# cd /usr/openv/netbackup/bin
# ./vxlogcfg -a -p 51216 -o Default -s DebugLevel=0 -s DiagnosticLevel=0
After setting these options run vxlogcfg -p 51216 -o Default -l to verify the c

to take affect.

Oracle backups failing with error 6
Problem
STATUS CODE 6: NetBackup Oracle RMAN backups are failing with a NetBackup Status

Code 6 (the backup failed to back up the requested files) and an ORA-27028 erro
r message.

Error
the backup failed to back up the requested files

Solution
Overview:
Receiving ORA-27028 and NBU status code 6 when attempting Oracle Recovery Manage
r (RMAN) backup.
Troubleshooting:
Enable the dbclient log file from the Oracle server.
Log Files:
The dbclient log file on the Oracle server shows the following message:
<16> openProgressFile: ERR - can't make directory path: </usr/openv/netbackup/lo
gs/user_ops/dbext/logs>: 13
<16> CreateNewImage: ERR - openProgressFile() failed
<16> VxBSACreateObject: ERR - Could not create new image with file /bk_10_1_6165
80548.
<16> xbsa_CreateObject: ERR - VxBSACreateObject: Failed with error:
Server Status: Communication with the server has not been initiated or the ser
ver status has not been retrieved from the serve
<4> sbtend: INF - --- END of SESSION --The Oracle UNIX user account used for the backup did not have read/write privile
ges to the /usr/openv/netbackup/logs/user_ops/ directory or a subdirectory of th
at path.
Resolution:
Change the file modes of the following directories to 777 - "chmod 777 <path>" w
here <path> is:
/usr/openv/netbackup/logs/user_ops
/usr/openv/netbackup/logs/user_ops/dbext
/usr/openv/netbackup/logs/user_ops/dbext/logs
Read/write/execute permissions by user, group and other for these directories ar
e required for successful user initiated backups including Oracle RMAN backups.
