Write a short review of a film or TV programme you have enjoyed recently giving
reasons for your choice. (Sample 10 mark answer) (about 100 words)
Recently I saw the latest Harry Potter film, Harry Potter and the Half Blood
Prince. Its based on the sixth book about Harry Potter by J K Rowling and I
think its the best film so far. The last film was criticised for being too dark,
but this film is very funny in parts, especially when Ron accidentally takes a
love potion! It also has very dramatic moments, such as the death of one of
the main characters. The special effects are some of the best I have ever seen,
especially at the beginning when a bridge in London is destroyed by Death
Eaters. I recommend this film to everyone, although it is a bit scary for
small children.

Part 8 (10 marks)

Choose ONE of the following and write your answer in the space provided. (Write at
least 200 words)
Health or Wealth. Which is more important?
Or
Write a letter to a restaurant manager complaining about a terrible experience you had in
his/her restaurant.
Health or Wealth. Which is more important? (Sample 10 mark answer)
I think it is much more important to be healthy than wealthy because if you
have good health you can enjoy all the good things that life offers and not
all the important things in life cost money. Love and friendship are the
most important things in life and neither of these can be bought. Theres an
old song that says, I dont care too much for money, money cant buy me
love. I think that is true.
On the other hand, if you are wealthy you can afford the best health care,
but all the money in the world cannot make you better if you are really ill.
The millionaire Howard Hughes suffered from poor mental health all his
life and was a very unhappy man.

Of course it helps to have enough money to be able to live a healthy lifestyle,

to be able to afford a healthy diet and medical care. Very often ill health
and poverty go hand in hand. People all over the world die because they do
not have enough money to pay for the medicine they need.
In conclusion, I think that everyone should have enough money to be able
to look after their basic needs, but being very wealthy does not always make
you happy.

Write a letter to a restaurant manager complaining about a terrible experience you

had in his/her restaurant. (Sample 10 mark answer)
Dear Sir/Madam,
I am writing to complain about a terrible experience I had in your
restaurant which my wife and I visited yesterday evening to celebrate our
wedding anniversary.
First of all we had to wait for half an hour because our table wasnt ready,
and we werent even offered a seat! When we did eventually sit at our table,
the waitress was very rude and kept us waiting for another half an hour.
The people at the next table were very loud and were annoying all the other
customers, but none of your staff asked them to be quiet. I asked them to
stop using bad language but they still kept on insulting people.
The food was some of the worst I have ever eaten. My steak was very tough I
wouldnt give it to my dog and my wifes chicken smelt very strange. The
waitress didnt apologise and she didnt offer us a refund. The whole
evening was ruined.
If I had known the evening was going to be such a disaster, I would have
stayed at home I will not be recommending your restaurant to any of my
friends in fact, just the opposite! I enclose a copy of my bill and insist that
you refund the cost of the meal,
Yours sincerely,
