I read across many regulation of the local body and learnt through my senior design
members how these issues are to be tackled through efficient designing. At this very
moment I would like to quote from Ar. Lim, We are architects and we dont design
things for just fun by this he meant that every single line we design has a reason
behind it, be it the vastu or functional or energy related physical phenomenon.
An architect has to be aware about everything.

The important challenges that I faced while designing were service cores, parking
areas along with meeting the fire requirements and other government by laws and
at the same time maintaining balance between the commercial wishes of the client
and an architecture that is socially and environmentally sound.

I also realized that a proper market survey and feasibility report is prepared prior to
such a large scale commercial project
On any functional site the architect is the top chain in command (superintendent
officer) and he issues orders and corrections if any to be done while the
construction process is still on.

I now understand that in any project architectural design is not a single entity
performed by architects but an integrated team of experts and consultants whose
job is to actually implement the ideas and solution on site what we architects have
perceived and envisioned.

This internship experience provided me the opportunity of understanding, designing

and tackling for real life issues, which I guess as a student I was not sensitive enough
in my academic designs.

Communication skills including convincing a client or for that matter a team

member and also dealing with seniors (especially boss) are skills which are essential
as an architect and can only be developed through practical experience.

I also got an idea how a design firm operates and works, its administrative structure
and office infrastructure.

Working in a professional world was extremely different than my student life. We

were supposed to arrive at the office on time and work till late if deadlines were not
met, this something that I have not been strictly following but would certainly help
me in the future.
