TONIGHTS STARTING PITCHER: 24-year-old LHP Brent Suter makes his
20th appearance, 11th start today in the opener against Mobile. This is the
Cincinnati natives first start since 7/5 at MTG. As a starter, Suter is 2-3 with
a 2.30 ERA and 3-0 with a 1.19 ERA as a reliever. This is the lefties 3rd start
against the BayBears and is 0-2 with a 3.60 ERA, striking out 9 and walking 6
over the pair of starts.
LOPEZ DELIVERS THE SHUCKERS ANOTHER RUBBER MATCH WIN:
RHP Jorge Lopez matched a season-high with 8.0 innings pitched last
night, shutting out the Jackson Generals on 6 hits, 3 walks, 6 strikeouts in
the series finale and rubber match of the 5-game series. The Shuckers won
their 3rd-straight at MGM Park, 2-0 over the Generals, evening the overall
series at 5-5. RHP Damien Magnifico picked up his 13th save in 15 chances with a 13-pitch, 1-2-3 9th and Biloxi clinched their 3rd straight victory...3B
Brandon Macias added the only runs of the game with a 2 out, 2-run single
on an 0-2 pitch in the 7th inning, driving home 1B Nick Ramirez (2-2, 2 BB,
R) and LF Josh Fellhauer (1-3, 2B, R). The knock broke the scoreless tie
and was enough to win on Saturday...The shutout was the 11th posted this
season by the Shuckers and 2nd in 3 games...For the 2nd-straight series,
Biloxi dropped the first 2 games and rebounded to win the next 3.
STREAKS AND TRENDS:
RHP Jorge Lopez has won 10 games in back-to-back seasons after
reaching double digits with yesterdays victory. The 2nd round pick in the
2011 draft lowered his ERA to 2.52 (110.2 IP/31 ER) and has walked 41,
while striking out 104. In 7 starts after the All-Star break, Lopez is 5-2 with
a 1.88 ERA (48 IP/10 ER) with 15 walks and 46 strikeouts.
Victor Roache extended his on-base streak to 17 games (started 7/12) by

BILOXI BASEBALL HISTORY: Pro baseball is not totally new to the Gulf Coast, but it is the first since 1908. The
Gulfport-Biloxi Sand Crabs of the Cotton States League played half a season in Biloxi during the summer of 1908.
Many Major League and som Minor League teams held spring traing in the area. Even the 1920 Milwaukee Brewers
of the American Association (direct descendant of the current Brewers) trained in Gulfport. See below.

Harvard man won the Southern League Pitcher of the Week for the of June 15-21, going 1-0 in two starts
with 13 scoreless innings to go along with eight hits, two walks and 12 strikeouts.
Last Outing: Suter allowed two runs on seven hits, two walks and five strikeouts in 5.1 innings on July
5 against the Montgomery Biscuits. The lefty did not get a decision in the Shuckers 10-9 victory.

COACHING STAFF
Subero, 42, begins his second season in the Brewers organization as manager at the Double-A level. Subero led the Huntsville Managing Career
Team
Stars to a 77-63 record and a postseason berth last season.
GCL Rangers
Prior to joining the Brewers, Subero managed five seasons in
the Dodgers organization at Class-A Inland Empire (2009), Double-A Chattanooga (2010-12) and Class-A Rancho Cucamonga
(2013). He led the Lookouts to the playoffs in 2011 after clinching
the Southern Leagues second-half North Division title with a 4227 record after the All-Star break.
During his only season as a manager in the White Sox organization, Subero led Double-A
Birmingham to a 74-63 record and a Southern League playoff berth in 2008.
Subero began his coaching career in the Rangers organization, including two seasons as
hitting coach with the Rookie Gulf Coast League Rangers (1999-2000) and seven seasons
as manager with the GCL Rangers (2001-02), Class-A Clinton (2003-05) and Class-A Bakersfield (2006-07). His clubs reached the postseason in each of his three seasons with Clinton. Subero owns a 798-849 (.485) record over 13 seasons as a
minor-league manager.
