Surat Al-Baqarah: Ayah 30 to 34

Aal e Yaasin Scientific Jihad

And recall what time thine Lord said unto the angels: verily I am going to place a
vicegerent On the earth. They said: wilt Thou place therein one who will act
corruptly therein and shed blood While we hallow Thine praise and glorify Thee!
Allah said: verily I know that which ye know not.(30)
And He taught Adam the names, all of them; thereafter He set them before the
angles, and said declare unto Me the names of those if ye say sooth.(31)
They said: hallowed be Thou no knowledge is our save that which Thou hast taught
us, verily Thou! Thou art the Knower, Wise.(32)
Allah said: O Adam! declare thou unto them the names of those objects. Then when
he had declared unto them the names of those, He said: said I not unto you, verily I
know the hidden in the heavens and the earth, and know that which ye disclose and
that which ye are wont to conceal!(33)
And recall what time We said unto the angels: prostrate yourselves before Adam,
they prostrated themselves; but not Iblis he refused and was stiff - necked and
became of the infidels.(34)

1) Ja'far al-Sadiq said: God taught Adam his names. Then he sent the souls of
his names to angels and said: If you think that you are worthier than Adam
because of your prayers, say my names. Angels said: You are wise and
blameless. We have no knowledge but what you taught. God said: Adam! Say
the names. When he said the names, angels understood his superior position,
that he is worthy to be Gods vicegerent on the earth. Then he hid the souls
and called the angels to praise him because of their affection. Then he said to
them: Did not I tell you that I am wiser about the unseen and about what you
disclose or hide? (Kamaal-ud-din and tamam-un-nemah Sheykh Saduq
Pahlavis Translation - p28)

2) Ali Ibn Abu Talib said: After that a special tribe of Jinns and Inss lived on earth
for 7000 years, God ordered the angels to look at the earth from high skies.
When they saw their obscenity on earth, they told God: You are powerful!
They misuse your blessings like this but you do not take revenge! When God
heard this said: I put my vicegerent on the earth. They replied: Do you put
someone who sins? Jinns and Inss did so before him. So among us choose
your vicegerent so that we pray and sanctify you. God replied: I know
something that you do not. I willed to create guided-servants and put the
disobedient Jinns and Inss in skies and universe and curtain this gap off.
(Stories of prophets from Adam to Muhammad Nemaat-ul-lah Jazaeri
p64)

3) Ja'far al-Sadiq said: There are two types of jealousy. One is from sin, the
other from negligence. The one which is from negligence is like angels
speech to God: verily I am going to place a vicegerent On the earth. They
said: wilt Thou place therein one who will act corruptly therein and shed
blood While we hallow Thine praise and glorify Thee! Allah said: verily I know
that which ye know not. In fact they wanted to be chosen as vicegerent. They
did not say this from jealousy, sin or denial. The other type of jealousy is that
one which causes servant to disobey and disbelieve. Satans disobedience of
falling prostrate for Adam was of that kind. (Tohaf-ul-oghul An Al-e-Rasul
Abu Muhammad Hassan Harati Jafaris translation p 349)

4) Hussain Ibn Bash-shar asked Ali al-Ridha: Does God know how one thing
which does not exist would be if it existed? He replied: God knows anything
before its existence. We were writing down what you were doing (jasiah:29)
about hellish people God says They lie. They would do the prohibited jobs
again if they returned. (Anam:28) (In creation story) angels said: wilt Thou
place therein one who will act corruptly therein and shed blood While we
hallow Thine praise and glorify Thee! (Baqarah:30) and God said: verily I
know that which ye know not. So God always knew the things before their
creation. Blameless he is about what is said foolishly about him. Superior and
great he is. He has created things and had known about them. Receptive,
perspicacious and wise our God has ever been. (Oyoun Akhbar-er-Ridha
Sheykh Saduq Ghaffaris translation 1st Volume p236)

5) Hasan ibn Ali Al Askari said: Names refer to prophets names, Muhammads
names, Ali Ibn Abu Talibs names, Fatimahs names, Hassan Ibn Alis names
and Hussain Ibn Alis names, and those pure of their family. They also refer to
some Shiyahs, oppressors and disobedients among their enemies.
(Alborhan Fi Tafsir-ul-Quran Alammah Bahrani 1st Volume p164)

6) Musa ibn Jafar al-Kadhim said: Muhammad (s.a.a.w) saw in dream: some
from Umayyad Caliphate rise from his pulpit. He considered it so obscene. So
God sent a book by which he unwinds and that is We said unto the angels:
prostrate yourselves before Adam, they prostrated themselves; but not Iblis
he refused and was stiff - necked Then God said to Muhammad: Muhammad!
I ordered but I was not obeyed. So do not be impatient toward your listeners
if not obeyed. (Tuhfat-ul-Owlia Muhammad Ali Ardakani 2 nd Volume p
485)

7) Abu Ahmad Khorasani asked Ja'far al-Sadiq: Which one is prior?

Faithlessness or polytheism? He replied: faithlessness. First one who
disbelieved and became faithless was Satan. God says Iblis he refused and
was stiff - necked and became of the infidels. Faithlessness is one but
polytheism considers counterparts for one thing. (Tohaf-ul-Oghul An Ale
Rasul Harani Jafaris translation p388)
