CONCLUSION
Newtons second law of motion explains the behavior of objects for which all
existing forces are not balanced. This law states that the acceleration of an object is
dependent with two variables, the net force acting on the object and its mass. The
acceleration of the object is directly proportional to the net force acting on the
object and inversely proportional to the mass. The first objective of the experiment
is to verify the direct proportionality of acceleration and net force of the mass of the
body is constant. In our data the mass of the cart (0.5181kg) is constant the string
at the end of the cart is the net force that the weights will be hanging. The 1 st trial
has a net force of 0.196N and has an acceleration of 0.3642m/s2 for the 2 nd trial a
net force of 0.294N has an acceleration of 0.5364 so I daresay that the first
objective is achieved. While the second objective is to verify the inverse
proportionality of acceleration and mass if the net force is constant. In table no.2,
the constant net force has 0.98N while the mass of the cart plus 100g in each trial.
In 2nd trial the mass is (0.618Kg) while its acceleration is 1.3649m/s2 for the 3 rd trial
the mass is 0.718Kg and its acceleration is 1.1980m/s2 so as the mass increases
the acceleration becomes slower. So I can say the 2 nd objective is also achieved.
I learned that the equation F=ma. The Acceleration increases as force increases or
mass decreases, it is directly proportional to force but it also inversely proportional
to its mass. After performing the experiment I fully understand that the acceleration
due to gravity has a big role in getting the acceleration of horizontal objects.
One particular situation that uses the second law of motion is an Airplane going to
another place because the force acting on the plane making the plane to fly is equal
to its mass of the airplane times the right acceleration. If one of these variables did
not reach its right or correct data the Airplane will not fly and can have a
malfunction in the air.
