Mr. Cardwell has more than 39 years experience in petroleum refinery, petrochemical,
power, and offshore industries. His responsibilities have included plant layout, piping
design and drafting, checking, and supervision of other designers and drafters.

Representative assignments include (arranged by most recent then descending in order)

 Senior Field Piping Designer – Assigned by Technip to follow construction and solve
piping problems encountered in the construction of NOx reduction project at the
ExxonMobil Billings Montana Refinery. Units involved were a new SCR and CCOB
boiler revamp and installation of Soot Blowers.

 Senior Piping Designer – Technip Engineering - PDS IFC iso checker for Valero projects
Port Arthur, Texas. Utilized Smart Plant computer program to check PDS isos of a grass
roots modular Sour Gas Recovery unit and interconnecting pipe racks for major
expansion of the Valero Port Arthur refinery complex.

 Senior Piping Designer – Jacobs Engineering - PDS piping layout and design for
definitive estimate model of a ethanol to ethylene conversion facility for Dow Chemical
Company which was to be built in Brazil. Was responsible for PDS conceptual piping
layout and design of the ethylene and propylene compressors area, quench water area,
condensate stripper area, adjacent pipe rack and banks of air cooled exchangers.

 Senior Piping Designer/Checker - Jacobs Engineering - Small Capital Projects,


Equistar/Lyondell Alliance, Houston, Texas. Responsible for piping estimating and PDS
piping design on multiple small projects (less that $5million).

 Senior Piping Designer/ Checker - Jacobs Engineering - Premcor/Valero Port Arthur


Refinery Expansion Project. PDS Piping layout & design, checked PDS piping
isometrics utilizing Smart Plant Design, verified equipment accuracy for furnaces,
fractionating columns, heat exchangers, pumps, etc for vacuum unit vacuum unit.

Refinery. Diesel and gasoline systems upgrade and revamp to clean fuels. Locate
piping tie-ins, develop field route piping sketches for cost and engineering estimate.
 Senior Piping Designer/ Checker - Jacobs Engineering - Flare Gas Recovery system Deer
Park, Texas Refinery. Checked PSD piping models and isometrics utilizing Smart Plant
Review and approve for Issue for Construction

 Piping Team Leader - Park, Texas Refinery Asphalt Crude Unit Tower Replacement,
CITGO Asphalt Refining Company, Savannah, Georgia. Replace existing 75 year old
asphalt crude tower and add two new exchangers to existing unit utilizing Autocad &
flexcad.

 Senior Piping Design/Checker - Jacobs Engineering - Clean Fuels Project, Flint Hills
Resources, Corpus Christi, Texas. Checked PSD piping models and isometrics for 75%
of offsite piping and two ISBL units utilizing Smart Plant Design.

 Bayport Region Piping Team Leader - Jacobs Engineering - Small Capital Projects,
Equistar/Lyondell Alliance, Houston, Texas. Responsible for piping estimating and
design supervision on multiple small projects for five plants in the alliance. The projects
can be as small as one line or as large as a complete unit revamp.

 Area Piping Team Leader - Jacobs Engineering -Grass Root Polypropylene Facility,
Aristech Chemical Company, LaPorte,Texas. The process was based on Montell Loop
reactor technology. Duties included piping supervision for the feed prep, compressors,
degas structure, catalyst prep facility, loop reactors, and blow-down areas.

 Senior Piping Designer/Checker - Jacobs Engineering - Grass Root


Polypropylene/Copolymer Facility Train 9, Fina Oil and Chemical Company, LaPorte,
Texas. The process was based on Montell Loop Reactor technology. Project included
feed prep, reaction, degas structure, fluff storage, feeders, blenders, extruders, pellet
storage, blending and loadout. Duties included piping layout/design/checking of the loop
reactor, blow-down, and catalyst injection systems.

 Area Piping Team Leader -Jacobs Engineering - Polysilicon Project, Albemarle/MEMC,


Pasadena, Texas. Responsible for reactor building involving the production of ultra pure
polysilicon. Installed three chemical vapor deposition reactors and two dehydrogenator
reactors, hydrogen storage and compressors. Was involved in this project of 19 months
from estimating to completion.

 Lead Piping Designer - Jacobs Engineering - Ethylene Oxide Facilities Debottleneck


Project, OxyChem, Pasadena, Texas. Installed new knock-out drums, exchangers,
pumps, chillers, scrubbers, reworked reactor, tower, and compressors.

 Lead Piping Designer - Jacobs Engineering - Feasibility Studies/Cost Projections,


CITGO Petroleum, Lake Charles, Louisiana. Mostly involved with oil and product
storage, movement and NESHAP.

 Senior Piping Designer/Checker - Natural Gas Reformer Furnace, Coastal Chemical


Corporation, Cheyenne, Wyoming. Project included all related peripherals required for

the construction of methanol portion of MTBE project.

 Lead Piping Designer - Marine Vapor Recovery and Incineration System, Celanese
Marine Terminal, Bayport, Texas. Helped to develop engineering bid package.

 Lead Piping Designer - Multi-Maintenance Projects and NG Stations, El Paso Natural


Gas, El Paso, Texas.

 Senior Piping Designer/Checker - Co-Gen Facility, O’Brien Energy Systems, Salinas,


California. Responsible for piping design and mechanical details required for the
interface of a Stewart & Stevenson supplied skid-mounted LM 5000 gas turbine and
generator set and S.T.I.G., and ENTEC H.R.S.G. and a Hitachi S.C.R. for reducing NOx
emissions.

 Senior Piping Designer/Checker - Co-Gen Facility, Richmond Power Enterprise,


Richmond, Virginia. Project involved responsibility for piping design and mechanical
details for the interface of two ASEA BROWN BOVERI (ABB) 11N gas turbines, two
ENTEC H.R.S.G.s also with HATICHI S.C.R.s.

 Lead Piping Designer - Continuous Operation Pilot Plant Facility, Phillips Petroleum
Company, Houston Chemical Complex, Texas. This facility produced pharmaceutical
grade polyethylene and polypropylene pellets. Responsible for all piping and
mechanical design plans, section, elevations, and construction isometrics.

 CAD Piping Designer - New Compressor Station, Dunn, Arkansas. Used CAD system,
Hewlett Packard 10000 running HOLGUIN CEADS 2000 software.

 Worked in research and development on various aspects of design and fabrication of


skid-mounted cogeneration units which are powered by aircraft, derived gas and diesel
turbine engine General Electric LM 5000. Duties included preparing systems P&I
diagrams, piping layouts, piping isometrics, turbine and generator instrument consoles,
conduit routing and ventilation ducting, sheet metal fabrication drawings. Participated in
designing seven units, Shell Oil Company, Texaco Chemical, and Hawker-Siddeley.

 Worked on several environmental expansion projects. Duties included piping, design,


civil, and electrical work in designing toxic material truck and rail receiving facilities,
storage facilities, agitators, aerators, digesters, sludge dewatering, surface treatment,
deep well disposal, and incinerators.

 Piping Design, Catalyst Recovery System, Oxirane Chemical Company. Methylethyl


Glycol Facility.

 Participated in three different offshore projects. Duties included process piping systems
layout and design starting at the wellhead manifold, on through the dehydrator,
precipitator, condensate separator, acculator, glycol regenerator, compressors and final
connection to offshore to onshore pipeline, pressure relief vent systems, deck drain
system to skim pile, process drain system to and from sump and waste heat recovery
from electrical generator motor exhausts. Also was involved in final check in piping
fabrication isometrics to ensure that the piping involved had the proper material

components, dimensional accuracy, adequate supports and no structural or other


interference with pipe route, Exxon, ARCO and MESA.
