Rub, Peaches first album of new material in 6 years album is her most adventurous, audacious musical statement yet. It
continues on the bold, sexually progressive path she forged 15 years ago that's opened the door for countless others to follow. Rub
was recorded over the course of 2014 in Peaches Los Angeles garage studio collaborating with her longtime friend Vice Cooler.
"After six years, I was excited about my lyrics again, about what Peaches was," she explains. "I felt more comfortable living out any
idea I wanted to try. We spent ten hours a day making beats, and whatever stuck, I would write on and develop. The only agenda
was to make the best album we could."
Oozing with seductive rhythms and bedroom-rattling bass, the record opens with the semi-spoken hook of 'Close Up,' delivered with
an inimitable and impenetrable cool by Sonic Youth's Kim Gordon in just one take. Peaches' old collaborator Feist also returns on
album closer 'I Mean Something,' singing a hypnotic hook and lending a chillingly beautifully wordless melody. The album also has
two breakup songs, the dark and disturbing 'Free Drink Ticket' and the insanely catchy pop song 'Dumb Fuck,' which find Peaches
addressing issues far more personal than political. Peaches will once again direct and curate videos for each song on the album.
The past six years have been some of the busiest and most productive years in her artistic career. From her one-woman production
of 'Jesus Christ Superstar,' (renamed Peaches Christ Superstar), to 'Peaches Does Herself,' an electro-rock opera which morphed
into a film of the same name to singing the title role in a production of Monteverdi's epic 17th-century opera 'L'Orfeo' in Berlin and
collaborating with Yoko Ono, Major Lazer, Le Tigre, REM, and more.

Based in Montral, Canada, Flying Joes evoke the raw power of pure 70s rock, inspired by an authentic blues sensibility. In September 2015 Flying Joes

At the time this legendary Bob Dylan gig was performed, his
debut record had been in the shops just four months, and Dylan
was still a virtual unknown in circles outside of the Greenwich
Village folk community. But in the summer of 1962, Terri van
Ronk, wife of the late great Village folksinger Dave van Ronk,
began arranging a few out-of-town gigs for the fresh-faced young
Bob. He was brought in at short notice to perform at Moe
Feinberg's PotPourri Club, located at 1432 Stanley Street in
Montreal; Dylan was apparently paid $125 for a four-night
engagement there, which ran from June 28th to July 1st.
Unfortunately, those shows were not documented, but Dylan was
asked to stay on in Montreal and on July 2nd he performed at the
Finjan Club on Victoria Avenue.
In addition to the three originals, all newly minted by Dylan, he

covers songs by the likes of Hank Williams, Woody Guthrie and
Big Joe Williams, but interestingly does not perform any tracks
that would feature on his first record just weeks from release at
the time of this broadcast. 'Folksinger's Choice' also contains the
only known Dylan performances of Smokestack Lightning, Hard
Travelin' and Roll On, John' and features the first known outings
of The Death Of Emmett Till and Standing On The Highway The
11 songs performed are liberally interspersed with chat between
Bob and Cynthia, however, far from spoiling the show, this only
go to enhance one of the best early recordings we have of Bob
Dylan, making this CD an incredibly important early document.

Having become enamoured with the jazz-rock fusion movement,

the group entered the studio initially intent on recording an
instrumental-heavy jazz-influenced album, but reportedly, bassist
Peter Cetera and long-time producer William Guercio were both
sceptical about taking such a dramatic step. With an album's
worth of instrumental material too strong to ignore, and the group
also writing enough pop and rock material to fill another album in
the meantime, they decided to release all of it as yet another
double album, a format they hadn't pursued since their third. This
proved to be a wise decision. Despite the first disc being almost
exclusively jazz-influenced instrumentals, the album went to hit
the #1 spot on the billboard chart. This was a live band that was

FROM THE DEEP, also known as MONSTER overseas,
featuring music composed by James Horner (STAR TREK II &
III, KRULL, ALIENS, AVATAR) for the 1980 horror film produced
by the great Roger Corman. HUMANOIDS FROM THE DEEP
was an early effort from composer James Horner and
represented his first full sci-fi/horror complete score, his third
score for New World Pictures and producer Roger Corman. After
earning a Doctorate in Music Composition and Theory from
UCLA, where he studied with composer Paul Chihara, among
others, he discovered his passion for film music when he was
asked to score several short films for the American Film Institute.
This led to his employ at New World Pictures, where he worked
with a number of young directors, writers and producers, many of
whom would feature largely in his later career, including Ron
Howard, James Cameron, John Sayles and Gale Anne Hurd.
Previously released on a scarce compact disc by GNP Records
in 2001, we are including a suite of music prepared by composer
Christopher Lennertz (SUPERNATURAL, HOP, MEET THE
SPARTANS, ALVIN AND THE CHIPMUNKS) from the 1996
remake of the film, also produced by Roger Corman.

By 1970, Davis was performing before the largest audiences of

his career, often opening for popular rock bands of the era. He
had opened for The Band at the Hollywood Bowl, and on
Fillmore East bills for headliners Laura Nyro and Neil Young &
Crazy Horse. He also played a multi-night run in April '70
opening for the Grateful Dead at Fillmore West. These
performances brought Davis a new younger audience that might
not have understood the genesis of his music, but dug it just the
same. It's a telling comment on Miles' relentlessly forwardlooking vision that a mere sixteen months after recording Bitches
Brew, and barely eight months after releasing it to
unprecedented commercial success, he had effectively dropped
most of its material from his live repertoire. On this performance,
Davis focuses primarily on new compositions ("What I Say,"
"Honky Tonk," Funky Tonk," and "Yesternow"), with only eleven
minutes of the hour-plus performance exploring established cuts
"Bitches Brew" and "Sanctuary". "Yesternow," a ferocious track
Davis had recorded the previous April for the Tribute to Jack
Johnson film, is followed by the title track from Bitches Brew,
concluding with another new composition, "Funky Tonk." During
the nearly 35 minutes of music contained in these last three
pieces, the group's power and precision is nothing short of
astounding. Apart from the set-closing cue of "The Theme," little
of this music derives from Miles' jazz period, nor does it fall into
the free jazz category that it is so often mistakenly associated
with. This music is much funkier, often comprised of deep, one
chord, cyclical grooves that have little in common with jazz.

Pianist, bandleader and composer Claude Thornhill was one of

the most respected personalities in the swing and big band eras,
admired by his peers for the unique, distinctive and stylish
approach of his orchestras, as well as his skill and versatility as a
pianist within other leaders' orchestras, especially when
accompanying the top singers of the day. He came to
prominence in the mid-30s, playing with the bands of Benny
Goodman, Louis Prima, Ray Noble, Billie Holiday and Maxine
Sullivan before forming his own orchestra in 1937. His unusual
and original sound came from the fact that his musical textures
did not employ vibrato, with the colour coming from using
instruments often not associated with jazz. Working with arranger
Gil Evans in the '40s, he made some highly innovative recordings
which greatly influenced bebop artists like Miles Davis, and his
work stands apart from many of his contemporaries during those
years.
This excellent-value 46-track collection covers the two core
decades of his career, from his studio debut in 1934 through to
1953, by which time changing tastes and the economic climate
had seen the demise of most big bands.

Lief Liebmann believes you can't take second chances for

granted. The New York-based musician should know:
Liebmann's band A Love Like Pi, which formed in 2006, has
seen more than its share of bad luck over the past few years.
First, on the eve of releasing their debut album The Atlas And
The Oyster in 2009, the president of A Love Like Pi's record label
passed away in a plane crash. Then, just as the band joined the
roster of Roadrunner Records, the label merged with Atlantic and
A Love Like Pi recorded an album that was shelved. Band
members left, reducing the band to Liebmann himself. Tough
breaks to be sure, but nothing could stop the music. After the
success of the E.P., Lief went back into the studio with producer
Kenny Gioia (Head Automatica, American Authors, Hall and
Oates) in South Carolina over several sessions.

Part of the SyFy Channel's seemingly endless parade of killer

critters and mega monsters, SHARKTOPUS was unleashed in
2010, staking its claim as perhaps a new pinnacle in its series of
original monster mashes. To score SHARKTOPUS, producer
Roger Corman and director Declan O'Brien returned to composer
Tom Hiel, who had already established a creative relationship
after working together on ROCK MONSTER and CYCLOPS.
Hiel's score for SHARKTOPUS was produced using synthesizers
and sampled symphonic WAVE files, which allowed the
composer to closely replicate a live orchestral performance
without the expense, emphasizing the synthesizer's ability to
create unique musical sounds. Living and working in the Los
Angeles area, Tom Hiel is an award winning composer for film
and television. Hiel is originally from Minneapolis, Minnesota,
where he recorded and performed his original solo piano and
synthesizer introspections at clubs, galleries and college
campuses across the country. Hiel is best known for his
underscore work for the television show, THE PRACTICE, for
which he composed the music for 88 episodes from 2000 - 2004.
Hiel was the recipient of the BMI Awards recognizing excellence
in composing for film and television for the 2000 - 2001 and 2002
- 2003 seasons of THE PRACTICE.

Kronos, expert swordsman and vampire slayer, armed with a
samurai sword, along with John Cater (THE AVENGERS) as his
hunchbacked assistant, Professor Hieronymos Grost. They are
joined by the First Lady Of Fantasy, Caroline Munro (GOLDEN

the beginning of the film. Together, they must unravel the
mystery of a series of deaths in the countryside that has left once
young and beautiful girls old and withered in their demise.
Boasting exquisite Gothic set design, rich colorful photography,
impressive make-up effects, and a bevy of beautiful actresses,
all in typical Hammer fashion, CAPTAIN KRONOS is augmented
by a superb score by composer Laurie Johnson, featuring one of
the strongest main title themes that still commands the attention
decades later. Born in Hampstead, London, in 1927, Laurie
Johnson undertook his musical studies at the Royal College of
Music, where he would later return as a professor. He embarked
on a professional musical career at the age of 21, composing
and arranging for a variety of big bands, a love which continues
to this day with his jazz ensemble, The London Big Band.
Johnson began scoring films and television in 1956, and soon
proved to have an affinity for quirky and fantastic films with his
scores for Stanley Kubrick's DR. STRANGELOVE (1963) and
FIRST MEN IN THE MOON (1964). In addition, Johnson scored
episodes of THRILLER and THE AVENGERS for television.

In 1975 friends Garry Roberts, Simon Crowe, Johnnie Moylett,

Patrick Cusack and Gerry Cott formed a band in Dun Laoghaire,
Ireland. Bob Geldof was originally invited to be the band's
manager, but he soon found himself nominated to take on the
role of lead vocals by guitarist Garry Roberts, who originally had
that job and didn't want it. The band's early influences were Dr.
Feelgood, The Rolling Stones, The Who, The Doors and Bob
Marley, among many others. The Rats were soon causing a buzz
throughout the whole of Ireland. The Boomtown Rats played their
first ever UK gig on May 6th. 1977 at the Lodestar Club,
Ribchester, Blackburn, Lancashire. The Boomtown Rats made
history as the first Irish band to have a UK No.1 hit. "Rat Trap" is
also recognized as the first New Wave song that made No.1 in

John Scofield updates his early-90s quartet with drummer Bill Stewart and saxophonist Joe Lovano by recruiting bassist Larry
Grenadier for his fetching, appropriately titled impulse! debut, Past Present. Between 1990 and 1992, the celebrated guitarist
released three well-received discs Meant to Be, Time on My Hands and What We Do for the Blue Note label as the John
Scofield Quartet. On those records, either Marc Johnson or Dennis Irwin played bass. Nevertheless, Grenadier also has history
playing with Scofield; he toured with Scofield in support of the 1996 disc, Quiet.
The nine exciting tunes Scofield penned on Past Present also reflects his philosophy on playing jazz music. He stresses the
importance of being knowledgeable of the musics deep, complex roots while simultaneously being spontaneous and in the
moment while performing it. For an artist with such a multifaceted discography as Scofields, getting to the root of jazz means
channeling the blues, as demonstrated on the discs closing, titled-track.
