(1) Textbooks:
Heat and Mass Transfer, by Yunus Cengel (McGraw-Hill, 4e Edition)
Heat Transfer, by J.P. Holman and Souvik Bhattacharyya (McGraw Hill, 10th
Indian Edition)
Copies of these two books are in the reference section of the library.
(2) Class Time: M 8-9 AM, T 9-10 AM, F 8-9 AM in L10
There are 40 lectures in the semester.
(3) Marks distribution:
Lecture attendance: 5% (Must be greater than 70% to avoid deregistration from the course)
Assignments: 10%
Quiz (Best 3 out of 4): 20% (in Non-class hours with advance
notice)
Mid Sem Exam: 25% (+2%=27% for those not opting for course
presentation/project)
End-Sem Exam: 35% (+3%=38% for for those not opting for
course presentation/project)
Course presentation: 5% (Optional)
All examinations including the end semester examination will be closed book, closed
notes.
(4) Ethics: Cheating is rewarded with F grade. This also includes copying of
assignments.
(5) For students missing the quizzes, there will be a make-up quiz a week before the
end-semester examination only for one quiz. The concerned student(s) must
submit the necessary certificate regarding the absence within a week of the
absence from the quiz for administrative clearance. Make-up examination for the
mid-semester and end-semester examinations are administered through DOAA
office and the concerned student(s) should be aware of the rules.
