Since 1977, the name DGS has become synonymous with
service and value. Formed in the very early days of double
glazing technology, our focus on technical expertise and
customer satisfaction has lead to the development of
todays highly successful multi-million pound business.
There are 11 strategically placed branches, including over

120,000 square feet of manufacturing and warehouse space
at our head office in Derbyshire and across the country.
We have our own fleet of 40 vehicles out daily delivering
throughout the UK and Ireland.
As environmental and security matters have become

increasingly pressing and are enforced by legislation, a
prime focus of DGS is to carefully monitor legislative and
technical trends in the industry. We constantly work with
innovative suppliers throughout the UK, Europe and beyond

ISO 9001:2000 quality standard and are Secured by Design
registered. In house testing is routinely carried out on all
ranges up to 20,000 cycles (equivalent to 100 years use) and
performance is further endorsed by the BSI.
DGS is a supplier of friction stays to and is specified by many
local authorities. All DGS friction hinges are made to be fitted
with the minimum of effort and slotted fixing holes allow for
maximum adjustment. Window security, fire or emergency exit,
safety restriction, easy cleaning and anti-corrosion: all come
within the scope of DGS friction stays.

Trade Friction Stay - Integrated Restrictor
Opening windows carry the risk that a person might

fall out of them. A safety restrictor makes this much
more unlikely by initially restricting the opening to a
fixed position. Opening beyond this initial position
is achieved by operating the safety restrictor release
mechanism. It is strongly recommended that safety
restrictors are used in pairs.

and Secured by Design.
DGS Group Plc. received a coveted Secured by Design (SBD) Award for our range of Elite
Friction Stays in January 2013. Secured by Design is the initiative from the Association of Chief
Police Officers (ACPO) that aims to reduce crime through effective environmental design. The
scheme also calls for the installation of security products that meet police-approved standards.
Manufacturers and installers whose products have been certified by an accredited testing body
to the specified standards, can apply for SBD membership and licence to utilise the schemes
logo. Further information on the scheme can be obtained by visiting

The SBD logo is the only symbol that guarantees national Police approval of a product, providing
architects, planners, specifiers, builders and end customers with reassurance that it provides a
realistic level of resistance to criminal attack. It is widely recognised within the building industry
and is increasingly being listed as a mandatory requirement
in tenders. Utilising SBD accredited products helps meet
new planning requirements for developers to demonstrate
what they are doing to reduce crime. Planners recognise
the effectiveness of Secured by Design and creating a
development that is SBD compliant and/or utilises SBDaccredited building and security products is a quick and
simple way to ensure compliance with new guidelines.
Consumers and specifiers are also recognising that SBD
provides an easy route to help identify which of the many
technical standards indicates a product is an effective crime
prevention measure.
Gaining SBD approval for our range of Elite Friction Stays in conjunction with our window
intruder restrictor is a significant achievement, demonstrating our commitment to safety and

Egress windows provide emergency exits in case of fire. To

be designated a fire escape window, these windows must
comply with Building Regulations Approved Document B
for fire escape windows and British Standard BS 9991:2011.

to make windows in compliance with these regulations

When using DGS Friction Stays you can consider using the Elite DGS window intruder
restrictor. These are used in pairs, one piece on the frame and one on the sash. When the window
is closed, the two identical components interlock and restrict the opportunity to jemmy the
window open. Use of this product will enhance security and may help you
to achieve compliance with BSI 7950.
