Mental Health Act Accessible Code of Practice


Webinar
This webinar is to tell you all about the new materials we
have designed to help explain the updated Mental Health
Act Code of Practice.
This work was carried out by Inclusion North and the
National Development Team for Inclusion in partnership
with people with lived experience of the mental health
system. This project was funded by the Department of
Health.

Health Act and need support to understand their rights

You are interesting in promoting the rights of people


affected by the Mental Health Act
These materials were designed for people with learning
disabilities, autism or other people who may have other
communication and / or cultural needs.
They are so people and families know what the Code of
Practice for the Mental Health Act says should and must
happen

Join Our Board as Self Advocate Director


We are looking for a new Self Advocate Director to join our
Board of Directors
The Board of Directors are the group of people who check
the Company is doing a good job and following the law.
We are looking for a new Director because a Director has
got a job and is too busy now.
We welcome applications from any self advocate leaders
from Yorkshire, Humber and the North East.
We would really like a woman with a Learning Disability or
someone from a Black & Minority Ethnic (BME) community
to join our Board because at the moment these people are
not represented on our Board.

"What's it gonna take...?" Open Innovation Event


- Learning Disabilities
Inclusion North are working with NHS England and
Inclusion East to run an open innovation event on 16th &
17th October.
It is over 2 days in Leeds and will be about finding solutions
to problems and working out how to do them not just talk.

Transforming Care New Draft Service Model


NHS England, the Local Government Association (LGA),
and the Association of Directors of Adult Social Services
(ADASS) have published a new draft national framework
designed to improve the care of people with learning
disabilities
This is the latest piece of work to come from the
Transforming Care for People with Learning Disabilities
Programme.
The Service Model sets out nine principles which define
what good services should look like.

Deprivation of Liberty Consultation


The Law Commission is asking people about what they
think about their plans for a new framework to replace the
Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards (DoLS).

Report on Health of Children with Learning


Disabilities
This report looks at the reasons why children with learning
disabilities have poorer health than other children and what
can be done about this.

guide to help shops understand the law and ways to
encourage or support disabled people to use their shops.

The Intensive Interaction Weekend Workshop

This is a weekend for Intensive Interaction Practitioners.
It is about: Better Training for Better Quality Intensive
Interaction Practice
It will help practitioners to develop networks and for people
to work together to solve problems

Talking Together Handbook


The Foundation for People with Learning Disabilities have
made a handbook to help people with learning disabilities
have a greater sense of well-being as they grow older.
An important part of this is looking at positive ways of
supporting people who develop dementia as well as those
whose friends or housemates are living with dementia. The
handbook describes how to run facilitated peer support
groups where people use their understanding and
experiences to help each other.

Supporting Decision Making


This training is for people (staff/family carers) who support
people with learning difficulties in Leeds.
You will learn how to explore peoples capacity to make
decisions, a person centred approach to making best
interest decisions and how to support individuals with
learning difficulties to make big decisions and day to day
choices.
The training is free for people working in Leeds.

Change Focus Group Invite


Change are inviting people from Self Advocacy groups to
come along to their event.
They want to make healthcare better by using peoples
skills and knowledge.
The event is to look at what skills Self Advocacy groups
have and would like to have, to share best practice, and to
talk to representatives from Clinical Commissioning Groups
(CCGs) about how including people can make healthcare
better.
The event is on 16th September

Vacancy with Barnsley Advocacy Service


Barnsley Advocacy Service are looking for a Generic
Advocate to work 22 hours a week with them.
The post will involve working with clients on a 1-1 basis to
support people to express their wishes and feelings,
access health and social care services and other issues.
It will also include working within the Wellbeing &
Engagement team to promote peer to peer support for
people with disabilities across the Barnsley region.
