Give Artists Creating Together a Hand: Volunteer!

ACT is a non-profit organization that connects people with disabilities to the arts. To make our programs possible,
we rely on wonderful people like YOU who volunteer your time and abilities to encourage the growth of ALL artists.
Below you will find our volunteer opportunities for Fall 2015. Thank you for giving ACT a hand!

One-Time Volunteer Opportunities

Weekly Volunteer Opportunities


Adult Art Classes: ACT offers a number of opportunities

just for adults! Check out the diverse options offered and
volunteer with one that fits your interest!
ACTion Drummers 1 & 2: Each Monday from 5:156:15 and from 6:30-7:30 pm this performing drum
troupe rehearses at ACT. Sign up to help out with this
wonderful group of musicians for their rehearsals and
community performances (Aug 28-Dec 8).

ArtPrize Family Day: During ArtPrize 2015, ACT will


host a Family Day at the GR Downtown Market
where anyone can come participate in sensory art
activities. Volunteers are needed to assist with
activity areas like face painting, ping-pong ball
painting, and more! Sunday, Oct 4, 11am-3pm
ArtPrize Education Day: ACT will also host an
inclusive arts Education Day for classrooms at the
Downtown Market. Volunteers are needed to assist
with art activity areas. Monday, Oct 5, 9am-3pm
Open Studio Nights at ACT: Students will come to ACT
for an evening of art-making! They will have a plethora of
art materials to choose from and we are looking for
volunteers to help in the creative process.
Adult Open Studio Night: For students ages 16+.
Thursday, Oct 15 from 6:00-8:00pm.
Youth Open Studio Night: For students ages
5-15. Thursday, Oct 22 from 6:00-8:00pm.
Step Up for Down Syndrome: ACT will provide arts
and crafts activities at the Down Syndrome
Association of West Michigans annual Walk. Come
and paint faces, assist with crafts and more!
Saturday, Oct 10, 9am-12:30pm.
Auction 2015! Thursday, Nov 5, come and help at
ACTs 26th Annual Art Auction. The event will begin at
6:00pm and we will need volunteers at different times
throughout the day as well as during the event.

Tuesday Visual Art Classes: Tuesdays from 5:15-6:15


pm at ACT students will participate in a 10-week
Recycled Art class (Sept 1-Dec 8).*
Tuesday Non-Visual Art Classes: Tuesdays from 6:307:30pm at ACT students will participate in a 15-week
Urban Dance class (Sept 1-Dec 8).*
ACTion Choir: On Thursdays from 12:30-1:30pm,
singers gather at Kuyper College (3333 East Beltline Ave
NE, GR 49525) for choir practice. In choir, singers learn
new songs, work on chorale technique and meet new
people.

Arts and Mentoring: ACT a holds specialized art classes for


GRPS transition students (18-26 yrs) in a variety of art forms
including Hip-Hop music, Ceramics, Dance, Painting, and
more. Wednesdays and Fridays from 9:30-11:30am.
Classes begin in September and run throughout the
year.
