2 BEFORE RUNNING IUAT PROGRAM

Figure 6 IPSTAR User Terminal setup

1. Connect the User Terminal with the ODU (the TX port to the BUC and the RX port to
the LNB). When starting the installation, you will need to insert a TX attenuator in
between the BUC and the TX port as shown in Figure 6.
2. Connect the computer to the User Terminal using a UTP cross-cable through Ethernet
port on LAN card.
3. The default IP address of the User Terminal is 192.168.5.100. However, you may
check if new IP address (10.253.x.x) has been set from the sticker pasted on the UT
box.
4. Make sure that your computer ip address is set to the same network as the User
Terminal.

3 RUNNING IUAT PROGRAM FOR THE FIRST TIME

1. Double click on the iUAT icon on the desktop to start the program.
2. The Authentication page will appear as below. This Authentication page is not used for
installation in India and will not be shown if the frequency profile for India is loaded.
Proceed by clicking on Load Profile icon on the dialog.

4 RUNNING IUAT PROGRAM FOR UT INSTALLATION

Step 1: Authentication
When starting the iUAT program after the setting in Section 3, you will be asked to
enter the 6-digit Pin or ZIP code of the location where the UT will be installed.

Figure 11 Step 1: Authentication page

When the Pin code is entered, a list of locations in the ZIP code area will be shown in
the dialog box as in Figure 12. Click on the required location name where the User
Terminal will be installed, or the closest location if the installer is unable to find the
actual location name in the list. Click Next to continue.

If the location name entered does not match with the database of the current
Frequency Profile, an error message will appear as in Figure 13.

Figure 13 Selected location does not match with Frequency Profile

When this happens, check the table and maps in Appendix A for the correct frequency
profile to be used for that location and reload the new profile as described in Section 3
Running iUAT Program for the First Time starting from Step 3.
You may have to try a few different profiles if the location is in the state which is
covered by more than one frequency profile in Appendix A.
When the location name entered correctly matches with the Frequency Profile, the
popup dialog will ask for the Installation Mode you want to do (Figure 14).

Click No to proceed installation with the actual cable.

Step 2: Specify the ODU Informations

Specify the antenna and ODU information as required in the page. Then click Next
to continue (Figure 15).
If you are using LNB with Lo frequency different from 10.6 GHz, you will need to
uncheck Default box and change the LNB local frequency to match your LNB frequency.
If you install TX attenuator please specify the value.

Figure 15 ODU information page

Step 3: Terminal Connecting
Specify the User Terminal IP address and logon power, then click Next to continue
(Figure 16).

The UAT process will be started within 70 seconds. It will connect to the User
Terminal, save RF configuration and reboot the User Terminal (hardware initialization)
(Figure 17).

Figure 17 iUAT starting page

Step 4: Antenna Alignment
You will see the antenna alignment page (Figure 18). This dialog shows the current
TOLL signal strength (Rx Level), Maximum signal strength attained, TOLL Es/No , Beam ID
and Frequency ID. The Beam ID and Frequency ID indicate the selected beam and
frequency as specified in the frequency profile.

At the top of the dialog, the calculated Az, El, and Pol angles for antenna alignment
are provided along with Ref. EsNo (Reference Es/No in the database for the selected
location) which you should obtain a better value during installation.
At this point you should try to adjust the antenna alignment (Azimuth, Elevation,
Polarization) to reach the maximum TOLL EsNo. After complete, click Next to continue
to step 5. In some case depending on the situation you may not be able to achieve Ref
EsNo, please try to get the best value and proceed to next step.
Note: For better readability depending on the lighting environment, you may change
color of displayed text in this step by click Color icon at the bottom of the dialog box.
Step 5: Seaching for Available Frequency
The iUAT will search for the best available TOLL frequency (Figure 19).

Figure 19 TOLL scanning page

After that, the iUAT will try to synchronize with the selected TOLL frequency. This
process may take a few seconds to complete. Then the iUAT will search for the UAT
channel (Figure 20). If the iUAT reports No UAT channel or Found UAT channel and
stuck at this step for a long time, contact gateway operator
After the iUAT found the UAT channel, it will search for the logon frequency and
sending the logon message to the TIS server.

Step 7: Polarization Alignment

After the TX power calibration is completed, the program will continue to step 7
(Figure 22). At this step you need to adjust the antenna polarization to match with the
transmission from satellite. After finished, click Next to continue to step 8.

Figure 22 Polarization alignment page

Step 8: UAT Quality Control
At this point, you will be asked to submit the test results to the UAT QC process, click
Yes to submit the results to the QC (Figure 23).

Figure 23 UAT quality control dialog

After the submission of the results to the UAT QC, the program will prompt you to
confirm the result (Figure 24). You have 60 seconds to click on this button to confirm the
results.
The TOLL Pass result indicates that your achieved TOLL Es/No in comparison to Ref.
EsNo. However, you still need to confirm the result in order to proceed to the next step
eventhough you get TOLL Fail result.
