Coin toss

Ground rules

Conduct a coin toss with your opponent before the

start of the match.
If you win the toss, you get to choose whether to serve
or receive first, or whether to play first on one side of
the court or the other.
Whichever choice you make, your opponent gets to
make the other choice.

At no time during the game should the

player touch the net, with his racquet or his
body.
The shuttlecock should not be carried on or
come to rest on the racquet.
A player should not reach over the net to hit
the shuttlecock.
A serve must carry cross court (diagonally)
to be valid.
During the serve, a player should not touch
any of the lines of the court, until the server
strikes the shuttlecock. During the serve the
shuttlecock should always be hit from below
the waist.

Serving Side
Remember that you have two service courts:
one on the right, and one on the left.
When the servers score is an even number,
he/she serves from the right service court.
When his/her score is an odd number, he/she
serves from the left service court.

A point is added to a player's score as and

when he wins a rally.
A player wins a rally when he strikes the
shuttlecock and it touches the floor of the
opponent's side of the court or when the
opponent commits a fault. The most
common type of fault is when a player fails
to hit the shuttlecock over the net or it lands
outside the boundary of the court.
Each side can strike the shuttlecock only
once before it passes over the net. Once hit,
a player can't strike the shuttlecock in a new
movement or shot.
The shuttlecock hitting the ceiling is
counted as a fault.

Match Rules

Every time you win a rally, you get a point. Starting from zero,
Following are the rules followed for each of the categories,

Ladies Doubles:

Mens Doubles:

Round 1 and Quarter finals games will be held for 15 point matches
Semifinal and Finals match will be single set game held for 21 points

Family Doubles:

Round Robin Games will be held for 15 point matches

Quarter final, Semifinal and Finals match will be single set game held for 21 points

Mixed Doubles:

Round 1: Games will be held in round-robin manner with 15 points matches

Semifinals and Finals match will be held only for 1 game with 21 points

Round 1 and Quarter finals games will be held for 15 point matches
Semifinal and Finals match will be single set game held for 21 points

Whenever you win a rally, you also get the next serve. So if your opponent was serving in the last
rally, the serve passes to you; if you were serving, you keep on serving.
To win, you need a two-point lead

The side winning a rally shall add 1 point to its score. The new system is known as rally
point scoring and this means that the winner of each rally scores a point. In other words,
you do not have to be serving to add to your score but a player/pair retains the serve
until they drop a point (namely, the opposition scores a point against the serve and thus
wins the right to serve)

21 points Game (Quarter final, Semi final and Final)

You have to win the game by at least two points. If the score reaches 2020, then 21 points
are no longer enough to win the game. You need to win two clear points: two points in a
row, one after the other.
For example, 2220 would be a winning score, as would 2523. But 2120 would not be
enough, and neither would 2423.
If you reach 3029, youve won the game. 30 points is the upper limit.

15 points Game (Round Robin, Quarter final)

You have to win the game by at least two points. If the score reaches 1414, then 15 points
are no longer enough to win the game. You need to win two clear points: two points in a
row, one after the other.
For example, 1614 would be a winning score, as would 1917. But 1514 would not be
enough, and neither would 1716.
If you reach 2120, youve won the game. 21 points is the upper limit.
