The Executive Mayor of Greater Sekhukhune District Municipality (GSDM), Cllr
Mogobo David Magabe, urged Councillors, Community Development Workers (CDWs)
and Ward Committee Members to constantly engage communities on service delivery
issues.
Speaking during a meeting with Councillors, CDWs and Ward Committee Members
from all the five local municipalities in Sekhukhune on Monday to discuss service

to bakkie draw
Any politician’s dream would be to draw a crowd as large as the ‘Win a bakkie’
competition final did on Saturday, 21 February. This competition, now in its second year
is organised annually by Factory Shop as a way of rewarding their loyal customers.
When customers bought two or more of eight specific products on promotion, they could
register and enter the competition.
This year more than 20 000 cellphone numbers were registered in the competition and an
estimated 8 000 people attended the final draw at the Khadima Centre last weekend.
The lucky winner was Ms Jane Manemela of Riba Cross. Suppliers ensured that not only
the main winner walks away with a prize, but they handed out promotional products and

Sentenced for attack Be careful

From 20 February till 23 February cases of cupable homicide were
reported to the Burgersfort Police after accidents on the roads around
Steelpoort and Burgersfort.

On 19 February 201~ Yvonne Mokwashe Komane [24] was sentenced to two years
imprisonment or a fine of R2000 for assault with the purpose to inflict grievous bodily harm
in the Praktiseer Magistrate”s Court.
R1000 or one year imprisonment was suspended for a period five years on condition that the
accused does not commit the same offence during the period of suspension.
The sentence follows an incident on 12 June 2009 in Ga Madiseng . The accused poured
boiled cooking oil on a 26 year old man after they had an argument. On 18 June 2009 the
case was reported to the Police in T’ubatse and they managed to arrest the accused.
The Burgersfort Police says three people have died because of
accidents on these roads.
Inspector Godfrey Mohale of the Burgersfort Police issued a media
statement, appealing to the community around Burgersfort and
Steelpoort to obey road markings as well as roads signs and to drive at
the recommended speed.
It appears from the statement that it is not only the road between
Steelpoort and Burgersfort the Police are warning against reckless and
negligent driving, but also the road to Polokwane and the road between
Steelpoort and the Riba Cross junction towards Polokwane.

On 21 February 2010 the Police in Tubatse arrested a man aged 24 years in connection with
theft from a motor vehicle. It is alleged that the suspect stole two motor vehicles headlamps
on 20 February 2010 in Praktiseer. On 21 February 2010 the case was reported to the Police
in Tubatse and the man was arrested the same day. The suspect appeared in the Praktiseer
Magistrate”s Court on 22 February 2010 and he was released on warning. The case was
postponed to 22 April 2010.

On 21 February 2010 the Police in Tubatse arrested a 20 year old man for assault with the
purpose to inflict grievous bodily harm. It is alleged that the suspect struck a 15 year old
girl with a stone after they had some arguments on 20 February 2010 in Ga Mashamothane.
On 21 February the case was reported to the Police in Tubatse and they managed to arrest
the suspect same day.
The suspect appeared in the Praktiseer Magistrate’s Court on 22 February “2010 and he
was released on warning. The case was postponed to 29 March 2010.

Stadium Ready
for World Cup
The Peter Mokaba Stadium in Limpopo is ready to be handed over to FIFA, says
Premier Cassel Mathale.
Mathale made the announcement during his State of the Province Address on
Thursday.
The formal contractual handover was done in November last year and the final
handover to the City of Polokwane was on 14 January when the contractor moved
out of the site.
The City’s 2010 marketing and communications manager, Mantlako Sebaka
said that as far as their agreement and timeline they are going to officially hand
over the stadium to FIFA on 24 May.
Premier Mathale said the people of Limpopo are ready and fully prepared for
the soccer spectacular.
He said all security measures were properly resourced, capacitated and in a
state of readiness. The medical and emergency services have been improved in line
with the requirements of the tournament. “The Polokwane/Mankweng Hospital
Complex is ready and available to offer acceptable medical services during the
soccer show and beyond.
“Our hospitality facilities have also been improved with some of the lodges and
hotels already fully booked,” he said. The construction of the stadium, which
started in March 2007, took 32 months to complete. The 45 000 capacity stadium
opened its doors to top-flight football in January when local teams, Kaizer Chiefs,
Supersport United and Wits competed in a four-team tournament that also
included Danish side, Bronby IF. The new stadium has been built adjacent to the
old stadium to form the Peter Mokaba Sports Complex.
Peter Mokaba Stadium is one of the host stadia of the 2010 FIFA World Cup.
Greece, Argentina, Paraguay, New Zealand, France and Mexico will all play their
first round match at the new stadium.

3.The Municipality is under no obligation whatsoever to appoint any bidder and reserves
the right to appoint bidders individually and/or collectively to execute the contract and
negotiate further conditions and requirements with the appointed service provider(s)

4.In terms of the Nation Treasury’s regulation, no bid will be considered from persons in
the service of the State.
5.Only Bidders who have a CIDB contractor grading of 4 CE or higher, are eligible to

5. In terms of National Treasury’s Regulation, no bid will be accepted from the
persons in the service of the state and bidders failing to comply with the
requirements of the bid document will be submitting non-responsive bids. 90

6. Successful bidders who are outside the area of jurisdiction of the Greater
Tubatse Municipality shall be required to sub-contract at least 30% of the total

Top honours for Leboka

Modikwa Platinum Mine Marathon Club’s
athletes excelled at the Modern Autohause
BMW 4 in 1 race in Polokwane last
weekend.
This Comrades qualifier is a fast paced
race and athletes could set new best
personal times.
Leboka Noto, running in the colours of Mr.
Price took first place in the 42.2km
marathon. His time was 2h28min. He ran
a very tactical race and tired the other
runners on the flatter areas of the race. At
the uphill section of the race his superior
strength caught them, they could not keep
up with him and this ensured the win.
Peter Molapo, a Nedbank runner, ran a
time of 2h35min ensuring a fourth
position.
In the 21.1km race Albert Twala, the
team’s veteran, came third in the veteran
race and 12th overall. He ran a time of
1h26min.
Steven Moeng ran a time of 1h28min,
finishing in eighth position.
The good times from the athletes indicates
that they are on track with their
preparation for the Comrades Marathon
this year.
Justice Phokane - 01h30min and Sonia
Makuoa – 1h34min ensuring them each a
silver medal. Victor Maroga run in the
10km race and finished in a time of
42min13sec also a silver medal winner.
