Plan International invites highly competent, experienced and committed professionals to fill the
following position:

Communications and Advocacy Manager


The Communications and Advocacy Manager provides strategic and technical leadership for
Plan Internationals communication and advocacy work in the Philippines. This role will also work to
strengthen the overall capacity of Plan International Philippines to be prepared for, and respond to,
emergencies in accordance with accepted principles, practices and standards.
This role will lead an integrated team to develop and translate strategy into measurable action,
identifying and resolving problems as they arise. S/he will routinely provide sound strategic
recommendations to senior management at short notice amidst competing operational demands. This
requires a dynamic leader who can motivate and encourage staff to perform and provides vision and
leadership in communications and advocacy, and beyond. The position is based in Makati City and will
manage a minimum of three direct reports.

Qualifications:

Bachelors degree in Communication, Development Communication, Journalism or


any related discipline. Post graduate degree is an advantage

Has at least eight years experience working as a professional communicator including


substantive work on development and humanitarian issues affecting children and
families.
Has three years experience in a supervisory role.
Has experience in innovative and outcome-focused communication such as strategic
planning, implementation, monitoring and evaluation, media relations, issues
management, internal communications, branding, online communication, community
engagement, events management and budget management.
Has strong writing skills; photography and videography skills is an advantage.
Has in-depth knowledge of current communications issues and trends, particularly in
the humanitarian sector.
Has practical experience in the application of Sphere, HAP, INEE, NGO/Red Cross
Code of Conduct and other relevant standards preferred.
Fluency in written and spoken English is essential.

Media Relations and Campaign Officer


Plan International has a 3-year European Commission grant-funded project, entitled
Collective Action to Promote Non-Violent and Protective Society to Children in the
provinces of Ifugao, Eastern Samar, and Sarangani and the cities of Quezon City, Naga City
and Cebu City.
The incumbent is responsible for the development and implementation of communication and
advocacy plan of the project. He/She organizes media events, develop education strategies,

media and public relation initiatives that will lead to the buy-in of positive approaches to
discipline in home, school and in the communities. The role is based in Makati City.
Qualifications:

Bachelors degree in Development Communication, Mass communication or any


related course.
Minimum of three (3) years hands-on experience in PR, media and campaign work
required.
Has strongly demonstrated skills in public and media relations, policy advocacy,
verbal and written communication, and negotiation are required.
Has proven excellent critical and analytical thinking skills.
Has strong background in data banking and publication.
Has proven knowledge and experience in use of various information, communication
and technology tools
Experience working within an International NGO is an advantage.

Livelihood Specialist
Plan International is to implement a 24-month multi-sectoral project that will provide
access to emergency employment and livelihood support. The project aims to mitigate the
adverse social and economic impacts on the poor resulting from Typhoon Yolanda in selected
municipalities in the Eastern Visayas. The projected outcome is for the populations in 74 poor
municipalities affected by Typhoon Yolanda have access to emergency support and early
recovery systems, and be more resilient during future disasters.
The incumbent will be responsible for the food security and livelihood component of the
project which has a wide range of activities including Cash for Work, Unconditional Cash
Transfer, livelihood recovery, skills training and community based enterprise development. The
position will be based in Tacloban City.
Qualifications:

Bachelors degree in Social Science, Rural Development or any related discipline.


Post graduate degree is an advantage

Has at least five years work experience in implementing a food security and livelihood
program. Experience on rural livelihoods and cash for work programmes in the
Philippines would be an asset.
Has three years experience in a supervisory role.
Is able to demonstrate a high degree of professionalism and integrity.
Has ability to maintain strategic vision and link with everyday work.
Has practical experience in the application of Sphere, HAP, INEE, NGO/Red Cross
Code of Conduct and other relevant standards preferred.
Fluency in written and spoken English is essential.
