that it has been commonly found fomewhat diffi
cult to beat them out of the Road they have been ued
zo. The only Reafon I can imagine, why this Me
thod bas not been taken long before this, is the Dif
ficulty of Tranlating any Thing in Latin, literally,
and at the fame time tolerably, into our Englih
Tongue. A Literal Tranlation, it was thought,
would look ridiculous, and bring no great credit to
its Author; and therefore no Body was willing to
foop to a Piece of Drudgery; how ueful and nece
